Purchased as a gift for a friend who traditionally wears a medium in other brands outerwear, I was very happy that the relaxed fit vest fit him. Perfect! It is very durable, the pockets very roomy which is a major plus.

Only problem I have with it is that it is very stiff. I am sure it will loosen up as it gets worn, but for now it is very stiff.

We had to order a bigger size it was a little tight across the shoulders. Ordered a 4xltall instead of a 3xltall. Now it fits great.

I’m 6’2” and I got an XL. Probably could have gotten a tall. It’s not the same quality as my jacket but I still like it.

The "Tall" size is a little too long for me (I'm 5'10") but you were "out of stock" on 2X "Regular" so I ordered it anyway. It's perfect for leaving the arms free while still keeping my body warm. I recommend this product. The one I had before was stolen

I'm not a vest guy. Never have been. Until I began wearing this garment of awesomeness!! By itself it is warm and comfortable. I'm 5' 6" and 185lbs so a medium is way to tight and a large fits my shoulders and chest perfectly but hangs a little low but not awkwardly so. When the temperatures have dipped this winter season I've worn this vest over my rain defender hoody and it's like wrapping myself in an upper body sleeping bag. I've been warm, not cooking mind you, but warm when woods loafing in the single digits and teens for several hours. I'm looking forward to many years of service out of this vest.

Made winter more comfortable

I have never owned a Carhartt vest, but I am glad that I finally purchased one. I was not sure about the fit and I used the guide on the Carhartt website. The fit is perfect with a t-shirt or if it’s really cold out I can pair it with my Carhartt crewneck sweatshirt. The quality of the material and construction means you are definitely getting a great value, but also something you Will have for many years.

I’m 5’-8” in height, 150 - 155 lbs in weight I bought a small and could not be more happier with the fit. I wanted a vest to wear in layers, to help keep me warm outdoors as well as indoors and this vest did not disappoint. The build quality is made to last.

I find the vest very stiff. When driving I have to unzip it. I hope it will soften over time. An exterior chest pocket would be good to carry one cell phone. I’m short but stocky and the medium was too tight and the large is a bit loose.

Bought it for my husband for work. Fits hum great and it’s water resistant too.

Firm outer takes about 10-15 washes and it will be the best. wares like iron. my second one. other one is 13 years old and i use it for work and it looks almost new.

I'll start out with sizing and then talk about the features. I am 5'11, 170lbs, 30" waist. Very lean/athletic build. I ordered the Medium. Chest and stomach fit well with a thin to medium layer underneath, such as a hoody. It fits okay in the length, but if there was a Medium Long it would have been perfect for me. If it covered my belt I think it would look a little less geeky. I actually tried a Large and a Large Long but they were WAY to loose. Made for fat boys. <br /><br />The material is stiff and sturdy. It is warm and durable. I think the one complaint is the collar. The material is heavy duty and can be abrasive if it is on skin and you are turning your head a lot. It also rides up if you are sitting down and it is zipped up, such as driving in the car. So I find myself unzipping it if I sit. <br /><br />Still a great product, I just wear it in more limited situations than I was hoping.

This is one of my favorite things to wear. Great in cold weather with a Carhartt hoodie. Durable and comfortable with pockets for tools and gloves.

The medium is a perfect fit, layering with both heavy and light sweatshirts. Still a good fit with a t-shirt. I wouldn't size up unless you got a beer belly.

I love it!! Great fit and very comfy. I plan on getting the black one as well. Only complaint is those are the only two colors to get in this style. Wish there were as many color options as the jackets. We'll see if it holds up as well as they do.

Perfect fit and super warm. Went out in NYC with just this and a hoodie in 40 degrees and felt super warm. I sized down my usual wearing size as I usually do with regular carhartt.

I should of purchase an XL instead of a Large

These vests fit smaller than I thought. Originally ordered a medium which was too slim and short. I’m 5’9” and 175 pounds and usually Carhartt jackets and stuff fit pretty big on me. But returned the vest and got a size Large Tall and fits perfect. Super good quality and very warm.

The vest is warm and fully sized. My only criticisms are that it’s quite stiff, tends to bunch up around my neck when sitting, and feels more like body armor which probably would prevent workplace tears and abrasion. It may loosen up with wear. I would prefer a chest level zippered pocket in addition to the single inside pocket but it’s not a deal breaker. I’d buy it again.

I love the product, I’ve owned one for over 20 years and still wear it. It’s beat up but I still use it. The new vest is even better than the old one mainly because it’s new, but it has a inside pocket that my old vest did not have. It’s a great garment, rugged and warm. Love this vest! Perfect for driving around all day in the winter. Insulation is great for working out doors (10 C to -2 C) with the right under layers and pretty good for keeping water out.

The vest was reasonably priced, in good shape when delivered, and delivered more quickly than I thought at this time of year. I think this is a little small for a 3XL. I have items from Duluth Trading where the 3XL is bit bigger than here. I bought it to fit over some think shirts and it does fit, but is a snug fit--not too small. Also, given the duck canvas exterior and the quilted lining, I thought it would be a bit warmer than it has proven to be so far. But I would still recommend this for others who might be a bit smaller than me--just not for warmth as an outer layer, which is how I like to wear my vests.

I purchased this vest to replace one I purchased roughly 15 years ago. My old vest was showing some wear but I still loved it. The new vest is perfect for cold Vermont days but I won't part with my old vest. I ware it on chilly days when I'm working in the barn or garden. Wonderful, well made, sturdy vest!

I’ve worn it nearly every day since I got it. Riding and working. Super comfortable and well made. I have the duck bib overalls and the quilt lined overalls as well and this gets the most wear hands down.

Fits ok but could’ve been longer in front

Awesome vest! Am 6'5" / 205 lbs and the large tall fits perfectly. I swam in the XL tall and had to return it. Solid quality, sturdy zipper and good look. Have worn it as a base layer over a long sleeve t-shirt under a light coat grouse hunting in <30 degree weather and was comfortable.

it is much larger than the last XL I purchased, even though the only difference was this time I purchased a tall version.

I buy the men's vests even though I'm a woman. I wish this style was made for women. My old one I loved but it is so tattered I was looking to replace it. The large outer pockets used to be lined in a nylon type of fabric, now they're lined in a fleece type of fabric. When you're feeding livestock hay gets in your pockets, with the fleece I'll have hay stuck in the fleece which is annoying and it also does not wash out. With nylon there is no issue. My old vest was made in the USA, this one is made in Mexico which is better than China, but the quality is not there of my old vest. I'm not sure what to do, I've been waiting all summer for the new vests to arrive for the winter season and now I'm out of luck. I'll be returning the one I bought. Also fewer colors than there used to be. Majorly disappointed.

I bought this after another company took over two months to send a vest so I canceled the order. I purchased this vest from the carhartt site and it was delivered the NEXT DAY. Well a week later I actually laid my bike down at 50mph and slid 40 ft. This duck vest saved my back and somehow still looks almost brand new. I could not believe how little the vest was damaged after that. I am carhartt for life.

I'm 5' 8" 220 lbs, I felt the "Tall Large" fits my style best, tried the XL (as I usually wear XL) but that was way too much space for me. Especially when driving, it was ridiculous.<br />The Large regular was too short for me as well.<br />Large Tall with 2" more on the bottom extension is perfect on this vest. Stoked!!!

I was very happy I love the brand...

I bought this vest in December for a new ranch hand job. Come February it was time to wash it. The instructions on the care tag say to steam iron the wrinkles in the shell. I aired on the side of caution and set my iron to the lowest setting with steam. After ironing the loft was entirely gone and the vest is no longer insulating. I contacted Carhartt and they told me to fill out a form they would send me and we would work on getting me a new one. I received and filled out the form and then never heard from them again. I don't know if they forgot about me or what but this was a pretty dissapointing customer service experience

Vest is great as all other carhartt products. I definitely suggest the tall version if u have a longer torso. The extra two inches helps it fit and look a lot better. Overall im def satisfied with this vest for those chilly mornings and night

Vest is great in appearance, and looks very durable. I usually wear size M in all Carhartt shirts and sweaters, but, size M in this vest was too small for me. I returned said item for a L size.

My job involves working outside in the cold. When I work outside, I can usually stay warm because I am moving. The other part of my job involves working on a computer in a cool environment - the vest is perfect for keeping me warm yet allowing me to work without having to wear a lot of extra restrictive clothing. I would recommend purchasing this vest.

I gifted this as a Christmas gift for my fiancé and he suggested I buy an XL for layering purposes. Even when weighing under 200 lbs he has always been in a large so being at 6’2 and 215, we went with XL which was way too big. He gave it to his daddy and it fit him perfectly. His daddy is about 6 ft I suppose and about 240. Hope this helps others!

I bought this vest for his Christmas and it was the perfect choice. The fit, the look, the warmth, what's not to love.

The zipper sticks and is nearly impossible to get zipped up each time my son puts it on. It is super frustrating that he has wanted this for so long and now he can barely wear it because of the quality of the zipper.

It’s good, but I actually preferred my old one that had fleece lining and a stand up canvas collar.

Every thing I expected

I love this vest! My only reason for a star reduction is that when seated the back rides up your neck. This decreases as it gets broken in, but it is a hassle on the front end. Mind you, it also covers your lower back when working. Thanks for the great product!

A little issue with zipper but I’ve figured out how to make it work. Really like the vest as a jacket or as a interior layer for colder weather. Would recommend and already got one with a jacket for a grandson. He loves them both - lives in Minnesota.

Awesome best. Follow drying instructions carefully because mine shrunk significantly. Luckily it shrunk to an ok size so I’m not too bummed about it. The collar is flexible so it hugs your neck while wearing a Hoodie underneath or just a long sleeve T-shirt. Warm enough with just a T-Shirt.

My go to vest no matter what time of year. Warm and useful during the winter, while also being extremely functional and breezy in the summer. Large front pockets fit just about any tool/accessory and interior pocket is great for bits and pieces as well as a security stash spot.

I pick up the vest for my guys every year. Then I bring them in and get the company branding put on them with the guys names. The guys always love them and it looks professional on site. Only issue is they’re always sold out everywhere and I have to resort to buying them online. Even online I still have trouble finding all the sizes and quantities that I need. Carhartt! Time to ramp up production!

This is my 3rd artic quilt vest ,all 3 have been great .Not sure why everyone doesn't buy this vest! Warm ,easy to care for ,many ,many people ask me about it .Tried a few other vest and I keep coming back to this one .b

I’ve owned these vests before. I don’t remember the zipper being so rough in its operation. Also the tab at the bottom is rather small and not easy to feed into the zip part.<br />An easier bigger zipper would be an improvement.

It fits true to size, nice weight and it keeps you warm.

This vest I've had for a long time now. It goes well with almost anything casual. I wear it in the summer, fall and winter. It's great for work or going out. It is comfortable and durable.

Got it as a gift for my dad and it’s bulletproof and can go through any climate in North eastern Pennsylvania. It also looks nice as well and has roomy pockets for tools, gloves, etc. Really recommend it

This vest provides added warmth while leaving my arms free to work. I wouldn't be without one in the fall or winter. They are very durable and comfortable.

I think a broken in option should be available , need to wash vest like 10 times before it even starts to conform with shape . After break in period these vests are fantastic and a must for persons working hard out doors with there hands

Looks cool and feels great. You can put a hoodie on underneath for added warmth. I weight 133lb. And normally wear 28x30 in another brand or 28x30 double knee Carhartt pants.

I have had a black Carhartt vest for years. It was time to get another color carhartt vest (same quality).

I've lived and worked an outdoor job in the high Rockies all my life and very rarely needed a long sleeve coat. All I ever needed was a good Carhartt sweater (which,sadly, they don't make anymore.) and a Carhartt vest. My old vest was 20-25 years old before I retired it. Man! they're durable. Bob in Colo.

Great fit , I bought a small, I have a 36 chest 5’7 155 , I’m able to wear a flannel and tee underneath, Warm , well made , bought it for when I’m riding my Harley-Davidson, works great!

Another quality product from Carhartt. I’ve owned many of there items over the years. Ranging from insulated pants, bibs, t-shirts and vests. I put the them through the ringer with my line of work and they always out live my expectations. I work in the south lands of Montana building log homes and being outside for half a day battling snow, rain. wind and sun day in and day out. By the time I am done with an item from them it’s usually in shreds and could last longer If I wanted it too. I’m a life long customer and have never had a single issue with them. Long live Carhartt !

I have been wearing Carhartt clothing for all my off duty clothing for years. I own numerous outerwear items so I pretty much know what size I take. This is the first time the item both ran short and small. Unfortunately I am at the end of the scale and could not go larger.

Amazing fit and quality with enough room for layering!

Well built and warm vest. Very stiff fabric and runs a tad large. Tends to ride up on the torso when sitting or driving due to the stiffness of the canvas. I washed mine hot with fabric softener and dried and it shrunk enough to fit okay as well as loosen up the stiffness

Real solid vest. Super comfortable and warm. I’m 6’3”, about 225, got the XL tall and fits perfectly. It’s a little stiff when brand new, but I’m sure after some good use and a few washes it will soften up nicely! I’ll probably by another in the near future!

I love this vest, its super warm and still leaves me good mobility. I'm 6'2" and 160 lbs and I originally ordered a medium and it was too big but the small fits great. My only complaint is that it is rigid but I'm sure with time it will break in really well.

Made to be worn over a hoody or light jacket, so don't expect a fitted vest. Love it so much that I have one in brown and one in black.<br /><br />*I had to return my first brown one - the Arctic fill wasn't even at all (one side basically had none), and the zipper was sewn lop sided, so the bottom of the vest was off by .5" and the zipper hung up. The second one was perfect like my black vest!

Had to return three different sizes. Apparently everything they make for vests is for fat people. I need a medium tall (generally I am a large, but not with Carhartt) and that doesn’t exist with them. Bought another brand, and it’s wonderful.

Cant go wrong with Cathartts! And they last forever! I would recommend the tall size covers more.

Great product, I wear it under my welding jacket where I can't fit a full coat. Large pockets fit body warmers for the really cold days. Heavy duty brass zipper is smooth. Comfortable to wear even before broken in.

Great for the cooler fall temps with a over a flannel or sweatshirt ,or under a coat come winter. Only complaint I wish they made it with some type of water repellent material like the older nylon style.

It’s runs small. Has no stretch to it. Warm. Super short in the front. Wish it was a little longer. Overall, I’m still undecided on what my husband wants to do with it. Either return it for a different style. Or keep it !! My reason for the 3 stars.

I like the look of vests and this is no exception. It looks good, feels comfortable and does very well at keeping you warm even in colder temperatures. It is the duck material though so give it time to break in as it will be a little stiff at the beginning. Well worth the money, will purchase another one in the future.

This vest is extremely warm, especially in the pockets. Also, its extremely tough and durable. The only thing I would note is that the "tall" version is not much longer than the regular size. If you usually wear a tall I would recommend trying it on in person

I've got a big neck, and the elastic in the collar squeezes with a choke hold. I just leave the zipper down, but then my neck gets cold, and I zip it up and complain about the elastic. Other than that, its a really tough, warm vest.

I wear it over a lightweight jacket on sunny winter days in the high Rockies. Provides the added warmth I was looking for.

I love this vest! It is super wam and fits great. I am tall and got a large tall, and that is a good fit for a tall skinny guy. Keeps me nice and warm with a flannel or hoodie. I work in it and just wear it doing everything. I would definitely suggest one of these to a friend.

Hoping for more colors in the future

Not sure what’s happened with the quality over the years. One of these vest used to last a few years until the edges started wearing out. Now the inside liner shreds within a week of wear, and the bottom edge is worn within months. If you want a hard working vest this is no longer it! Will be looking at other brands possibly engle-Bert Strauss, I wish they shipped to North America.

I really like this vest. Great for when the weathers to warm for my Carhartt coat but cool enough for more than a lite sweater. I wear this over my sweaters to keep me warm in the mornings and can take it off later as it warms up. Being 5’11” I do suggest getting the “tall” as they run short.

It is currently being tailored to fit me. None of your outerwear is slim enough and long enough to fit me properly, so every piece I buy from you requires 1-3 hours of tailoring, which adds an additional $20-$60 of cost to your garment unless I do the work myself. So until you create a tall slim pattern that fits people that are over 6’ tall and under 225lbs I won’t every be very satisfied with your product.

I seriously like this vest. It is warm. It fits well. It looks good. It is only a week old, and so is a little stiff. Actually, it is like wearing cast iron, but, like my other Carhartt garments, it is getting better by the day as it breaks in. I have a longish torso, and other down vests that I have owned always felt short on me. Not this vest. It is just long enough to feel like it is staying where it is supposed to be instead of riding up on my waist. The pockets are deep and well placed, also with the quilted lining that keeps them warm. All in all, a great vest at a fair price. I will use it for years.

It was exactly what I needed

The best is exactly what I wanted. A tough do everything layer for the cold weather. The sizing seemed hard to pin down though. I initially ordered a 3xl but was swimming in it so I replaced it with a 2xl which only just fits. The disparity between the two size feels like a jump of two sizes not one. 3xl is very generously cut while the 2xl is on the smaller side relatively speaking.

I got a 4xl even though the site said to get 3xl and I’m glad. I have a big belly and it fits my belly well but there is a bit too much room in the chest area. Leading the zipper area to bunch and doesn’t look too nice. The vest is also super stiff but I imagine in time that will change.

As a mechanical contractor, been wearing Carhartt for 44 yrs. The black vest hides the oil, carbon and grease stains . I assume the brown would be better for the carpentry/ excavating crews. The online ordering from the great state of Kentucky went down flawless, shipping to Michigan.

It runs small but mostly it runs short. Especially for a bigger size man 4xl barely hit top of jeans waistband. Nice looking vest excellent quality but not made for big guy.

Looks just like the one in the picture. Very strong material, slightly less quilted than the last one (it was 15 years old) but still toasty warm. I work outside all year round and this keeps me warm all day and it provides mobility for my arms.

My husband is MR. Carhart...NOT KIDDING! We even bought a new red tshirt for Christmas! He has products in shipping packages for "rainy days". Never checked care instructions on recent vest because we've purchased many over time. WOW what a shock to find tall xl shrinkage, he can't wear it, far too tight. Compared old and newest care label to see the guidelines changed. Very disappointed but too busy to drive to Portland for exchange or hassle with shipping back. Careful to fellow CarHart fans! I purchased this to layer under a Carhartt coat so I understand the collar design. However I find the collar design to fit tightly around my neck enough to be irritating. I would love to see a version of this vest with a standard coat collar.

My husband has worn one of these vests for 20 years. He loves them. Tough and cimfortable he won't consider anything else. I get him a new one about every 4 years when I can no longer get the work stains out. He's never "worn" one out.

Your sizing is way off the charts. XXL tall is to small and shortXXL tall is way to big.

Quality was good and it looked nice and warm. However, this is a Christmas gift for oldest grandson and he has not gotten it yet.

Very comfortable and last a long time

I ordered 12 of these for my carpenters. We used the Carhartt sizing chart and all of them fit the guys as intended. Due to our climate we usually layer with long sleeve t-shirts, hoodies, and the vests. They work great, are durable as hell and loved by the crew.

After reading the size chart, I ordered the Duck Vest. When it arrived, I was surprised that it fit like a shirt…no room for a thermal shirt. So a larger size was ordered and all was well. The return process was smooth and painless! I would recommend this Vest to anyone!!

Way too short in the front. I’ll be returning it. It’s cut kind of weird in that it’s longer in the back. If the length up front were the same as it is in the back it would be great.

This is a good vest, but for me it has one flaw which keeps me from calling it great. This vest would be greatly benefitted by having a two-way zipper. It would be highly desirable to be able to unzip it a few inches from the bottom when seated. Cotton duck is very stiff, especially when new, and this vest tends to push upward when you are seated. Anyone who has worn an arctic quilt lined Duck Traditional Coat (Carhartt style #C003) will know what a benefit being able to unzip the bottom is under certain conditions, such as being seated. This vest also really needs that capability--but it lacks the two-way zipper of the C003 (and some other Carhartt products). This vest could still be a nice purchase if you plan on wearing it mostly standing on your feet.
