This coat is certainly sturdy enough and has great pockets. But it's not as warm as i'd hoped. I've bought men's jackets in the past because they had more inuslation than the women's. Working on a ranch, outdoors all winter, a warm coat is important. This wold probably be a great coat if you weren't dependent on it while working outdoors. Even with layers underneath, it's not doing the trick.

The last winter coat I will ever buy! I’m a pro dog walker in Austin, Texas. While winters here are mild compared to other places, it still gets very cold and rainy. First day wearing this coat to work it was freezing and raining all day. This cost keep me warm and totally dry without needing to layer or being too heavy. I love all the pockets and detail. Amazing quality! I could have gotten a L but the XL is still good if I ever feel like layering with a hoodie.
This is honestly the best coat I have ever owned!
I live in a winter wonderland state and needed a replacement winter coat that was not only stylish but functional for my outdoor lifestyle and job. I am currently a nursing mother and needed a jacket that could fit over the girls comfortably without being extremely baggy everywhere else. It's currently 21 degrees with snow on the ground and because I am still pumping I have to wear polos to work for my pump to fit. With only the thin layer on underneath this coat keeps me warm and blocks the wind. Another issue I normally run into with jackets is the shelves riding up, but not with this coat. I am not restricted at all when crossing my arms or lifting them over my head. On top of being an outdoor mom I am also a police officer and wanted a coat that would keep me warm when I am in a pain clothes assignment or on the range. This coat does just that! This coat helps me conceal easily and the side zippers allow me to easily access my gun. Overall great design and would highly recommend to every outdoor working mom or just any women for that matter. I am trying convince my department to buy us all these coats, they're absolutely amazing!
I love the coat. I just wish the sleeves were long enough. Mens sizes come in talls, but no womens talls???

Great fit. 5'7" and 145 pounds<br />Enough room for thicker layers underneath. It's got a bit of a stretch to it thos feels extra comfy. Hood comes down over the forehead so it'll be great for light rain and wind. Love the storm cuffs that will keep fingers warm if I done wear gloves on a quick walk. Haven't worn on a cold winter day but I have faith!! The purple is a deep color that I do really like.

I was very happy to see a spring coat in the Super-Dux fabric and ordered one right away. The insulated coat has been the best Carhartt coat I have owned for farm work. It doesn't snag on fencing, doesn't stain when covered in farm dirt/animal "dirt" and I was about to keep wearing it for chores despite not needing the insulation till I got this. This coat is perfect for spring/fall and like the other Super-Dux insulated Coat and Jacket I have gotten compliments on its look AND other farm gals very curious about the line. The Super-Dux fabric out performs my Woman's Storm Defender Jacket by leaps and bounds. My Storm Defender Jacket is soaked through in 30 min (of course my partners mens line Storm Defender keeps him dry as a bone but its a different fabric which is usually the unfortunate stunt with woman's wear...) the Super-Dux fabric has kept me dry and warm. Please keep this fabric in use and make more WOMANS products with it. A pair of storm pants in Super Dux would be AWESOME.

i got this coat when my old coat's (different brand) zipper broke after 12 years. there are some real functional problems with this coat: when i sit down, the side zippers unzip --they shouldn't do this. the hand pockets on the bottom front are too shallow -- i'm afraid things will fall out of the pocket (i'd never put my car keys in there for instance)-- which makes the pockets not as warm, and the only closure mechanism is one snap button, which doesn't really close it -- i'd prefer a zipper. these could have been designed better. the thinsulate material is VERY thin. i don't think it would keep me warm in very low temps, even if i layered clothing. i question if there is really any insulating material in the arms, which are even thinner than the main body of the coat. the drawcords for the hood can only be accessed by unzipping the coat which is another design flaw -- it is inconvenient and lets in cold air to do this. <br />pros: i like the color, it probably would deflect rain, the zipper works well on the front, despite design flaws the materials seem to be of good quality. <br />this feels more like a jacket than an "extreme warmth" coat. i should not have paid this much money for it.

Great coat for warmth. My only negative is I should have gotten size larger because the sleeves are a little short for me. Great fit everywhere else. Love the hood. It gives great protection from the wind. I’m over 5’8” and my arms are longer than most I guess. Still a great coat.
I was so looking forward to this coat -- I need a warm winter work coat and thought this would fit the bill. The fabric is good -- feels sturdy. Like the pockets and design overall. The hood attaches kind of like a scoop, so funnels wind down your core -- needs a drawstring there. And the arms are attached with kind of a bunchiness. But I could over look these things if it was "extreme warmth" as advertised. And this is why it lost the stars. I tried wearing it on a windy 18 degree day and was cold. This will not keep you warm if you need warmth below say 20 degrees. I live in northern Vermont, so this is a no go for me. Disappointed in Carhartt -- you should rate your coats by temps not vague considerations -- extreme warmth may mean something different to others.

I love it! It is super warm, not easily dirtied and the amount of pockets inside and out and the size of them are terrific for your hands, cellphone and anything else. <br />I didn’t think any coat could be a better than my old Carhartt coat, but this is!
Outstanding quality, great shopping experience
This coat looks sleek. It is warm and just about wind proof but very heavy. After wearing down jackets most of the time, it is always a shock to put this on. It is also very stiff. But I love it on a blustery rainy day. It does keep me warm and dry. But I wouldn’t call it comfy.

I love it, best coat i have ever bought!
It isn't very warm... it runs small... the sleeves are disproportionately short... the "beak" in the center of the front of the hood is very rigid and knocks the back of my head uncomfortably... I would not recommend it to someone looking for a warm winter coat and I would have returned it if I hadn't been desperate for a winter coat.

The material and color are very nice - smooth finish that does not collect dog hair or fuzz. But the very stiff hood brim pokes the back of the my head and is very uncomfortable. The only remedy is to turn the hood inside out which ruins the look of the coat. I would have returned it for this reason except that I needed it right away and didn't have time to look for another coat.
The warmth of this jacket has been great! There’s been some winter storms lately with subzero temperatures and this handled that well. The fit is great and allows for a full range of movement.

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She absolutely LOVES it! Purchased a medium. She normally gets a small tee shirt. Wanted room for under clothes. She walks in Cleveland and it is windy. Hood comes up and neck area is covered. She loves all the pockets. Recommend.

Its is exactly what I wanted- good length . I can still move and do all activities with coat on.. Love the hood with high zip neck in front as an option for covering lower face.

My new winter work coat for hauling wood and working outside in the snow. Love the longer length, adjustable hood, inner sleeve wrister to prevent cold going up the sleeves. Lots of pockets. Warm, but not too heavy. I expect this coat to last many years.
LOVE this coat. It’s warm, comfortable, feels durable without being heavy or stiff. It’s definitely not a fashion coat, but the blue/green grey color is pretty. All the pockets are great. <br /><br />Only criticisms are that one of the chest pockets has a Velcro closure, which is odd. And there is no interior zipper pocket, only one Velcro pocket. There’s so many other pockets, it’s a minor criticism. I’ll probably sew in my own zipper pocket for keys. <br /><br />The cut is meant for movement. I can reach up, down, drive, etc without any restriction of movement. <br /><br />I’m 5’7 145ish with an athletic build. A medium fits great with a mid weight sweater underneath. Most jackets are way too tight in the shoulders but this one is perfect.
This is my new favourite winter coat. I love it. I wear it as often as I can. Its warm and heavy duty without the weight. It looks great and I like the little longer length.
I LOVE this coat! It's super comfy, lots of pockets, great hood, and surprisingly flattering. Very well-made and rugged. Great wind/rain block, and just warm enough for the shoulder season into early winter, with plenty of room for layering as we get into deep winter. The only thing I don't like is that the zipper does not open from the bottom as well as the top. However, the side zippers do help to ameliorate that short-coming.
Don’t stand by a fire, the outside material will melt. I’ve NEVER had this happen with any other coat.
It was nice, but a little too dressier style for me. True to Size. But I needed more shoulder room. And so I had to send it back for a refund, and ended up getting a Men's Coat in Large.
Really warm, comfy jacket! I'm muscular, 5' 0", 130lbs and the extra small fits perfectly with room to layer a lighter jacket underneath. I live in Kentucky so I won't need to put much underneath this jacket to stay warm all winter. The zippers on the sides are awesome because it is a longer jacket and I'm short so they make it a little easier to move and sit. Abundance of pockets! I love and would highly recommend this jacket!!!
I bought this for my wife as she was needing a new coat. I bought this because I knew it was something she wouldn't have bought for herself and I'm glad I did because she absolutely loves it. I like carhartt's consistency in size between the garmet selection. I took her to a local retailer to have her try on some of the Carhartt coat selection they had to find out what size she wore. She's picky and not surprisingly the selection at the retailer was very limited but I know I could find her something at <a href="http://carhartt.com." target="_blank">carhartt.com.</a> Thanks Carhartt for providing a great product, you rarely disappoint.
Love this jacket! Ordered a large cause I wear lots of layers but I could've used a medium. Very comfortable and warm for working outside in those Canadian winters. Really like the zippers at the hips for that extra room when wearing thick coveralls.
