I wear a size large in almost every shirt. These are definitely “loose fit.” I tried a medium and it was too tight. I am 5-11 205 lb. The large is a little baggy, which is ok in a hooded sweatshirt.

Looks great but it's uncomfortably tight/small. I'm 5'9 140 lbs and got the Small and it's way too tight in the shoulders/chest area and also the waist. The problem is that it LOOKS perfect - it's exactly how I would want a sweatshirt to look. But if I were to size up to a Medium, I think I would be swimming in it, and I think it would also be too long (the Small is already very long)
I've wore a Carhartt zip up sweat jackets for the past 25 years. This is my first order of loose fit hoodies. <br />I'm 6' n weigh 215lbs. Broad shoulders n lil bit of gut, not much. I wear large shirts. I ordered 3 large hoodies. They arrived today! Very fast shipping! These hoodies are snug putting them on and then they relax and feel and fit perfect. Perfect extra room in the arms, belly and sides but not to much that they feel to big. Great design. Love em and probably won't wear my nike or other hoodies often now. Medium qoulda been tight on me n XL would have been too big. So glad i went with Large! These are so comfortable as well. I am very happy I ordered Carhartt for my hoodies thie year. The colors, Carbon Grey is a dark grey, I love it. The Moss color is a olive drab green color. Perfect color, not to dark and not light green either. The New Navy is exactly that. Dark Navy blue. Not lighter blue like in the pic. So u will get the dark navy blue Carhartt has always pleasured us with. I'm naturally stocky built, so Large fit roomy n relaxed with a large tshirt on. Big hoods, which I like. Light weight yet warm and soft material. I hope this helps. N I always fold my waist band up, n it fits perfectly around my pants waist line. About halfway down the zipper wearing it straight down. I just prefer mine turned in n up. Feels great, and relaxed. N if like my Carhartt sweat jackets, the hoodies feel like they will last 6 r 7 years each also!! N I wear them everyday below 60°. For work, to town, etc. Tough n durable!

It's too big. your sizes are at least a size too big. still have one in the bag. want to ship them both back for another size please. need a return number ?? quality is superb, just need a size smaller.
Thick, comfy and warm. I just wish the brand catered to smaller frames. I ordered a small, but the hoodie was still a bit too big. I wear it for work though, so it's not much of a big deal. An extra small option would be great. Delivery was free and fast.

Great quality hoodie for a reasonable price. Only thing I don’t like is the fuzz inside of the sweatshirt and hood. A lot of loose fuzz gets all over my head and shirt when I wear it. Besides that I personally don’t have any other complaints.

I am 5’8’’, and weigh 180 lbs. The original fit in medium is normally perfect, but something is off with this shirt. The fit of the shirt up top is perfect, but it’s too long on bottom. There’s enough fabric to pull it down and cover my entire backside. I bought it to insulate my torso, not cover my rump. Obviously I don’t wear it that way, but it looks sloppy with all of the unnecessary fabric. Did y’all have an influx of requests for a hand warmer pocket big enough to carry a football, or are there that many men my size with LeBron James hands?

I love these hoodies for work as a carpenter. I get large and they fit perfectly. (I am 5-11 and 210 lbs.) I would say they run large for todays clothing. Most things i wear are XL.
I wouldn’t even look at another brand! From the size, figment, perfect size pocket, lining in the hood, thickness everything is perfect on this hoodie. I immediately ordered 4 more after getting my first. It runs a little bigger but that’s how I wear my hoodies so be aware. So when you bend over or sit you don’t have to worry about exposed love handles or cracks showing lol.

I actually do not like the two sweatshirts. Loose is one thing it’s way to long and way to wide. I’m 5’10, 200lbs and both fit as if they were a 3x. Not a fan of your sizing, I can’t wear them and didn’t save the packaging. So I’m stuck with them

These run very large, my son (6’00, 200) normally wears an XL sweatshirt but the Large Tall was perfect for the baggy look he likes. XL was way too big, salesguy said a Carhartt XL equals a 5.11 XXL for example. <br />Material is heavy but soft inside and the sweatshirt seems high quality.

Not as loose fitting as I thought it would be. Mine also didn’t come with a string for the hood. The hood is a bit small and doesn’t fit/stay on my head as well. I’m female so my head isn’t that big. Otherwise, nice and warm.

Good sweat shirt . I have worked for a railroad for 45 we used a lot of junk until we could get Carhart. Most railroaders use Carhart.<br />At midnight and you are walking the lead or serving units and it is 30 below Carhart is the cold weather gear to ware. We also use the rain defenders in the fall or spring. Now that Iam retired I was just out plowing snow with a 20 below wind chill with my old Carhart's.

Everything you would expect from Carhartt! I’m a bigger guy and the XL is still plenty roomy enough for me to wear a hoodie underneath and still swing hammers and load pipes with ease. Very comfortable, warm, and blocks wind like a concrete wall. Takes a bit to break in but worth it. I think this jacket is by far the best value from Carhartt.

This hoodie is pretty good however my big complaint is the hood on this hoodie is HUGE compared to the one on my heavyweight carhartt hoodie. because of this you have to use the draw strings to tighten it up when working outside in the wind if the hood was the same size as my heavyweight one itd get 5 stars.

I wear a Large in regular pull over hoodies, mediums are usually tight. You would think a loosefit medium would be perfect but it's closer to a xl than it is a medium. Quality is great as usual but sizing is terrible.

I’ve always like to fit and feel of these medium white Carhart sweatshirts. I wear them all winter long When it’s upper 20° or more. I do wish that they had zippers on the front pouch/pocket. That pouch gets full of hay when I’m hanging the horses, or sawdust if I milling. I wish I could keep them closed when doing those things.

The only part of this sweatshirt that is loose fitting is the sleeves. And not in a good way. I bought my typical size (I already own several carhartt hoodies) and it was too tight on the body and way too big on the sleeves. Honestly I think it’s a scaling issue for the bigger sizes. Since the sleeve cuffs are ‘loose fit’ they hang way down over my hands. Just overall so disappointed.
This sweatshirt is perfect for me. It is durable but not too heavy. Though the color brown was a little darker than I was expecting.
I saw a reviewer said they work in a freezer and this was perfect for them (I do too) so I ordered at that moment. I just got it and it is perfect, very thick, heavy, and warm. I ordered a small I’m 5’7 and 125lbs it fits me baggy, which I like. The only minor thing I will say is the hoodie doesn’t fit my head too good. I like big hoodies that cover my whole head, but unfortunately this one does not. I would still 100% recommend for anyone trying to stay warm and dry!

Alright, so, I love this sweater! The Brown one is such a nice color. I got an XL because I like oversized sweaters. Compared to my other XL sweaters, this one was a bit bigger but it’s a good thing. It feels very comfortable and the material is sturdy. I am a sweater wearer in the summer. And I’ve got to say, this sweater doesn’t make me feel hot, it gives the right amount of warmth. However, it does also provide warmth for colder temperatures.

I'm 6'2, 180lbs so I bought a large. The length is generous, about 9 inches below my belt line. The mid-section is loose and baggy. The interior is very soft and warm. Material seems durable. <br /><br />Things I'd change: <br />-Add 1-2 inches on the sleeve length; it currently comes to my wrist, but I prefer the sleeve a little long. <br />- Make the hood a little bigger and drawstrings a little longer. <br /><br />All in all it seems to be a great hoodie. Hoping it doesn't shrink after washing.

I have not worn it that much but it seems to be the perfect sweater for daily wear when the temps are not quite warm enough for a jacket. Like most Carhartt shirts it is designed to be loose fitting so a large will feel more like a x large. It feels well made

My Husband is 6'4", but the arm span of a 6'6" man. He's usually a 2XL T in most clothes because they run small. He has extra long arms and very broad shoulders, but trim in the waist and stomach. Carhartt is quality and made for him. The best fit in the torso was the XL, but the sleeves were too short. So, we ended up with the XLTall that is perfect in arm length, but a little longer in the torso than he likes. It's the best fit for him all around. Thank you Carhartt!

I love the weight and fit -you definitely need to order a size down from your normal size -however the back right shoulder has a small cut in it -looks like it was sliced about the size of a dime length

I like my hoodies to fit loose. I'm about 5'10 at 190 and order my hoodies X Large which fit loose enough, but not big enough I feel like I'm swimming in the shirt. I could probably get away with a large, but the XLs do the job. Plus with the extra room it gives me the chance to layer if needed.

Typically I find Carhartt to run large in size. This hoodie is true to size. I expect to have many years of use, same as all of my other Carhartt clothing.
I struggle to find hoodies with long enough arms and long enough torso for my skinny and tall 15 yr old, this one is the bomb. He loves it... It shrank literally the tiniest bit the first time, but thats it and it fit perfectly with that tiny bit of shrink. highly recommend for guys rough on their clothes!

From a working perspective, this medium hoodie moves comfortably and does not bind around the arms or shoulders.<br /><br />As for comfort? Can't beat it. The sizes are spot-on and the material, after a few washes, becomes soft and comfortable. Working from home, this has become my daily hoodie.<br /><br />Think I need a few more...

The fabric is soft but appears durable. I ordered the tall and that mean it when they say tall. I probably could have gone with a reg xl. Warm shirt for their medium rating. I dislike the pouch pockets as they tend to billow out and catch unwanted debris.

This is a great sweatshirt, but my son who normally wears xl . Sweatshirts are typically too short, so was excited to find a tall. He was swimming in this one. Maybe a large tall would have worked better. Sadly, must return it.

Purchased a navy blue and a black one size large tall. Returned the black one material was very thin and rough feeling. Already worn and washed held its shape did not put in the dryer so not sure if it would have shrunk. I would recommend the blue one

Bought the mid weight rain defender for my husband and he absolutely loves it! The only problem is that he can only wear brown to work and Carhartt has either stopped making brown or they’re not available anywhere except for in Tall.

The midweight hoodie is an all-around quality item for work or weekends. The weight is great, it feels like it will last for years to come. Very comfortable and warm.<br /><br />Sizing is my only issue. The overall design is just off. I am 5'11" and 185 lbs. Not an overly muscular guy, just in really good shape. A medium is perfect in the chest and upper arms. Sleeve cuffs are tight with no room to pull up the forearm. Also had to cut the neck a bit as well, as my large "dome" didn't fit through the neck hole without a struggle. Yet I have about 50 more pounds of room in the midsection.<br /><br />Oh well. He is an ironworker who works through -40 degree weather and this hoodie always has his back. I want one in every colour. Perfect for rough working conditions but comfortable enough to lounge in.

Sizes run a little big. Overall fits nice and I am able to wear shirts underneath it comfortably.
The Large is incredibly baggy and should be sold as an XL, I ordered one online and immediately returned it, but had to eat the cost of shipping and was given Credit to Carhartt's online store rather than a full refund. Being a student who barely has any money anyways I'm pretty dissatisfied with the entire experience which is disappointing because I really respect Carhartt's dedication to quality.

Always been a fan of carharts clothing. Working outside it keeps me dry, and allows me to layer for extra warmth. Never have I been dissatisfied or disappointed.
I've had a firstever midweight sweatshirt for a weeks now and it is holding up well after a few washes. It does hang lower than any other sweatshirt I've had, seems to be the fit? My kids say it is! The drawstrings is tough, the pockets is strong and the room ideal. All of my Carhartt clothes have outlasted anything else I own. It is as simple as that. Whether knees of workpants pants or stitching on a 20 yr old vest (really!), it is still with me and paid for itself over and over. Not comparison.

This is a well made sweatshirt. I was not aware that Carhartt was cut larger than most brands. Therefore, I ordered the wrong size. I ordered XLT for my son who is 6’5 and it was huge. If you’re tall with a short torso, don’t order “tall” shirts or sweatshirts. Most of my sons height is in his legs, so he wears “tall “ pants but regular tops. Just my advice for what it’s worth . <br />I think that even if I had ordered a regular XL, it would have been too roomy. <br />I’d say to size down for a regular fit or order your regular size for a roomy or relaxed fit. <br />I have 3 young men and a husband who all wear Carhartt and I like how durable their clothing is- very satisfied overall. Seems like it’s going to be a long lasting hoodie. Took a bit to figure out what size I was, but I’m really happy with how it fits and feels. My only wish (reason for 4 stars and not 5) would be that it was made in America. I love Carhartt’s story and that they still offer some garments still made in the US. I bought this sweatshirt in the color new navy for my boyfriend for Christmas and once arrived it was much darker then expected. About 4 shades darker than the picture. It may get lighter when washed but at the moment it looks black with the tiniest hint of blue. The size from looking at it is a bit big but it’s a sweatshirt so it’s supposed to fit loose. I’d order your normal size. Overall it’s very good quality with a thick outer layer and a soft inner layer. I think this is the perfect winter sweatshirt. I recommend.
It was sized huge for a 3 xl tall. It looks like a tent on. I thought maybe I could shrink it to fit better but it didn’t shrink at all. I know better for next time, a 2xl tall will do.

I ordered a Large Tall since I'm 5'10 and 220lbs. The length is perfect for me. Extends below my hip and the sleeve length is just right to where if I extend my arms out, my wrists don't show and if I raise my arms above my head it doesn't show my waist or anything. Love the cuffed bottom and it's not to tight and not to loose. Keeps me nice and warm in 35°F-70°F weather even with a t shirt on underneath. Pocket size is pretty roomy so I have space for my phone, earbuds case, and cigarettes and can still fit both my hands inside. I would highly recommend this hoodie to anyone looking for your standard hoodie.

I have worn hoodies my whole life. This is my 1st Carhartt hoodie. I am 5'9" 160lbs. I ordered an XL and it was to big for my liking kinda looked like I had my boyfriends hoodie on. So I returned it and ordered a Large and it is perfect. Still a little big but not swimming in it big. I got the Carbon Heather it is a very dark gray, great color! I will be ordering another one in Winter Moss Heather very soon. I definitely recommend this hoodie. It is very comfortable, very soft, keeps me warm and I can layer it under my Bartlett jacket too!

Not a big fan of this at all. It says mid weight but it’s really heavy. The length makes no sense. The bottom of the hoody wraps around my thighs almost. And the pockets are the worst part. They’re so big there’s no way anything would stay in there. Not to mention it just looks bad too. Would not recommend this to anyone.

I own 2 of these and they are by far my favorite hoodies. They are warm and durable and I love that I'm not afraid to get them dirty. The only complaint I have is that the waistband elastic is a bit tight causing the hoodie to ride up throughout the day. Other than that it is a great piece though I may be biased as Carhartt is all I wear nowadays!

The best quality sweatshirt I have, but I don't wear it much anymore. I usually get XL sweatshirts (my true size is L) because I like them to be roomy, and I've never had a problem with that until this sweatshirt. It's very very long, and will not fit the same as other sweatshirts you may have. If you are a normal size L, and like a roomy fit, do not get the XL, get the L.
I bought this hoodie to be an oversized hoodie for lounging, traveling, and staying warm in cold months. it’s very cozy, comfortable, and roomy! I chose the men’s hoodie for a more relaxed fit and I really enjoy it. I also chose Carhartt because I know they quality is there. I don’t have to worry about this piece of clothing falling apart on me in a year.

Returned the Medium I originally ordered so I could order a Small. I'm 6'0" 160 lbs, and the Medium was long in both the torso and arms, and had too much material to fit under a somewhat loose denim jacket. The small fits great, is impressively warm, is built to last, and looks great. My only gripe is that the neck hole is pretty snug around my head when I'm trying to get it on, but that also means it'll let less warm air out.

Extremely soft and comfortable. At 5’7” the sleeves were a little long but after the first wash they shortened a tad bit and it fits much better now.

Durable, easy to wear hoodie. It holds up to day-to-day wear without issue. It's easy to clean and the color stays vibrant despite being washed. Light enough to layer if needed but warm enough to wear on it's own too.

Like everything Carhartt, it's alright. Not particularly fashionable or anything (unless you are into the section of population that think Carhartt is a particular fashion statement, I know those people, too). As all Carhartt, a bit bigger than the size suggests, reminding me of an article of military cloth, "one size fit absolutely no one." And exactly what you expect from Carhartt, decently durable work cloth. I'd buy another when this one gets tattered, but only as a work cloth, but that's what it is.

This year I got everyone this one. It says mid-weight, but I would call it more of a heavy weight. I was impressed with the warmth and roomy-ness of this style. An all around great hoodie!!! I was also very impressed by the new blue colour available this year!!!!

The sweatshirt is quite warm and comfortable; however, I normally wear a large and this a roomy medium.
Love the sweater but it took a little longer to enjoy it due to the fact it does run larger than normal. I always wear a large and this large was like an XL. I bought two of these hoodies 6 years ago in 2014. I use it for work in the automotive field as a mechanic. It takes a beating during winter and not a single tear. Its really warm too during those cold garage days.

I work in Virginia where it’s 70 degrees one day and 30 degrees or lower the next. I also work in a very industrial and harmful (to clothes) environment. This hoodie holds up! Weather is no issue with a long sleeve under the hoodie. Holds up even when tie wire and rebar attempt to ware it down. Thanks!

The material is thick and warm and overall a great quality. I do have to exchange the size from a Large Tall to a regular large. Not too happy about Carhartt not offering exchanges and having to pay for return shipping but hey what are you going to do?

TRUE TO SIZE
I got my brother-in-law this for Christmas and he loves it! He has recently lost weight and this is the first sweatshirt that fits him since then and it fits perfectly!

The hoodie was huge! I read other reviews, and even referenced the measurement guide, but it was still gigantic. I ordered a M and it was equivalent to an XL, if not XXL in most other brands. I worked in clothing retail for years, so I’m pretty familiar with the variance in sizing between brands, but I’ve never seen anything quite this extreme. I had to return it. There are some discrepancies between the return instructions online and the ones that come with the order—thankfully, it’s extremely easy, with no additional cost. Exchanges are not allowed, so that’s a bummer. I sent it back a couple weeks ago and I just got an invitation to review my hoodie... the one I don’t have because I sent it back? Overall, I began my shopping experience with a positive impression of Carhartt and by degrees, I’ve grown more disappointed, which is so sad!! I think the products themselves are of great quality (despite the sizing issues), but the customer care process could use some fine tuning.

I wear a size large in almost every shirt. These are definitely “loose fit.” I tried a medium and it was too tight. I am 5-11 205 lb. The large is a little baggy, which is ok in a hooded sweatshirt.
