I am very happy and warm in my new Carhartt Active Jac. I ordered navy blue, it is great shade of blue. The jacket is very warm, I spend long periods of time out in the elements and I am never cold. The size is true to fit, I do wish the hood was a little bit more flexible.
i usually wear a XXL when it comes to hoodies and stuff but figured carhartt runs pretty big so an XL would be fine - boy was i wrong, i guess i should have got a size large, this thing makes me feel like a human bowling ball. warm though.

Runs way too short in the arms. For a medium it runs on the larger side in terms of girth like most carhartt jackets but arm length is disproportionately short.

Nice and warm. I don't even consider wearing this if it's above 35 degrees out. A little stiff until it's broken in, but that's to be expected with Carhartt

Great jacket. Runs a little big though. I bought the Large Tall. Im 6'2, 230lbs. Large-XL is typically my size range but I probably could have got away with a medium regular with this particular jacket.

Good warm jacket. Needed an XL for my sleeve length as I am 6’4” so a bit roomy for me but as I wear extra sweatshirts underneath it’s not a problem.
Great coat. Does a great job blocking the wind and I didnt get too hot wearing it inside. I ordered a Medium mens because I couldnt find a womens version I liked. I wish the pockets were deeper and it had snap closures in addtion to the zipper

Vary warm and comfortable
This jacket is comfortable, warm, and feels substantial. It’s now my go-to jacket for most cold mornings. I think it will be a good jacket for layering when things get colder soon.
I can’t begin to explain how overly satisfied with this product. Long story short, but, I was in a motorcycle accident last night and this coat stood up to the road when the rest of my clothing didn’t. I would give this 100 stars if I could. Slight damage to my coat, however, no road rash on my upper body due to this!!! Love love love this jacket!!!!

It’s still a great jacket. I have two of them. One medium from when I was much lighter and a large. The only thing that’s different that I don’t love is the zipper changed. Great jacket still made in the USA. Hopefully they don’t take it overseas like the other jackets that are now much worse for it.

This Jacket from Carhartt is the last winter jacket i will ever have to purchase for myself. It's very heavy duty and extremely warm. Perfect for layering a sweatshirt or vest underneath for extra warmth. I bought the 2XLT and i am roughly 250ib and fits perfectly with a enough room to layer. <br />I bought this jacket knowing I will be moving back up north.
Ok, let me start by saying we all know Carhart is a wonderful brand of workwear that lasts and lasts and keeps you warm and safe. But did you also know it is not IN STYLE?? Yep, my 18 year old daughter and 21 year old son, both in college, informed me of this fact. This particular purchase was for my daughter, a 5'2" blond cutie, who will be sporting this around her Virginia campus.... So congrats, Carhart, you should be reaching a whole new market. I for one and happy for you. Your clothes have always been tops, and you deserve it.

The fourth one I have owned!<br />Throughly recommend the jacket.<br />Generally, I use it 0-40F, very warm.<br />Easy to get on and off and you can wear layers underneath.<br />The construction and material are tough.<br />Good in heavy rain, but you will have to dry it out; not waterproof.

For as long as I can remember, my dad has only ever worn this coat and will only wear this coat. He works outside all year in Minnesota, so he wears it 3/4 seasons. Needless to say, he has been through many. We get him a new one when he sun bleaches his coat to an off-white and the cuffs start fraying. It’s a sort of tradition that when he’s gifted a new coat, he gives us his old coat so we don’t have to ruin our coats that can’t handle dirty work/abuse. So those old coats still get used by us kids. The only thing he dislikes is breaking it in, but you’ll have that with any coat. He told me he got lots of compliments on it wearing it to work. The coat was delivered quickly. Great product.
I've had active jacs in the past, but my current was purchased a couple years ago as a general replacement. Best jacket in my lineup. Rugged, built to last, and not unfashionable by any stretch of the imagination. To my mind, a clean design that's easily recognizable.<br /><br />I purchased this USA-made J140 directly from the Carhartt website and, mercifully, it arrived in Toronto just in time for early winter weather. Within the week, if I recall correctly. Washed it once when the winter was over, which took out a bit of the roominess: fits perfect. Pockets are just right.<br /><br />While the J140 does what I need it to do, I may go for a Yukon active jac or parka for those super frigid winters that crop up from time to time. That said, the J140 with a heavy hoodie underneath is generally good enough for me in the dead of winter; and, on colder days, I wear bibs.

I love the jacket. Some of the stitching on the bottom was pretty rough.. it looks bunched up and just wrong on one of the the sides. I think the bottom was stitched to something in the interior it wasn't supposed to so its kinda hung up. Other than that I love it :/

This is a quality jacket that requires a little time time to break in. It's quite stiff due to the fabric which is like a fire hose type of materials. Good quality construction and should last a life time if properly taken care of. The zipper was the only down fall for this jacket. Although the zipper is good, it's not as good as my previous jacket, seems as though the materials and manufacturing of some of the products ( which are made outside of US) are being made with cheap materials. After applying bees wax to the teeth of the zipper, and zipping and unzipping about 40 times it's starting to work better. The jacket is very warm and its good to use when the weather is below freezing. A good investment for a durable product.

I really like this coat; it is my second one. I was delighted to find one that was identical to the one I still have, with a new zipper slide. Sleeves a little frayed, now my tinker coat. Plowing snow for nine years, in and out of truck, never cold or wet. Great price for the quality and a big one for me, "Made in USA" For me it has always been a sense of pride to wear Carhartt gear.

I work in the electrical field in Canada and am constantly exposed to the elements. I really like Carhartt for the warmth and durability. I have had other work gear in the past and it has constantly disappointed me or fallen apart after a few months of heavy use. Once I tried Carhartt there was an immediate difference in quality and I’ll never go back. It has held up longer than any other brand and I look forward to many years of continued use.
Bought this for my 17 year old son. He has worn it for 5 days straight! It’s very warm and comfortable. It’s durable enough to be able to withstand the wear and tear of a very active, and let’s face it, messy 17 year old boy. Runs big, but I’m happy for that.
The jacket is "too" loose. I will be returning it and instead getting a REGULAR FIT in Large.

This jacket is very warm!
Bought a coat that could withstand wind and still be durable working in brush without being overly warm when working. Bought it in Tall as I'm 6'3" tall and like to bend over without getting a breeze down my backside. This jacket is perfect for outdoor chores like wood splitting and stacking. The hood takes some getting used to as it is stiff and filled, too. A couple of washes may take some of the stiffness out of it. The elastic cuffs and waist keep it sealed nice and snug.
Very satisfied , came in very handy this Ohio winter. Color is amazing.No issue with shipping , came actually a day or so early , was nice.

This jacket is warm but super stiff! Other reviews said the material was stiff but I didn’t expect it to practically stand up on its own. I’ve washed it a few times and still stiff. It takes up so much closet space bc so big bulky and stiff. I wouldn’t but it again.

I definitely would’ve been fine buying a smaller size, so just remember it says “loose fit” for a reason. But I’d rather have it too big than too small, so no worries.<br /><br />It’s SO comfortable. In the winter wind, it feels like a shield that just prevents anything cold from hitting you. 10/10 new favorite winter item!

Pretty good jacket and USA made. It was not quite as warm as I thought it would be, but fine in Minnesota with a fleece base layer underneath. It is generously cut and actually may run just a little big. For a “Tall” size I wish the sleeves had another inch on them. The elastic cuff material is my only complaint. It is not as heavy duty as I would expect and as such has a tendency to roll inside on the sleeves and does not hold the waist up. If it wasn’t for that, I would give it 5 stars.
No complaints. Everything is amply sized and proportioned. You don't feel like you are wrapped like a mummy, but there is enough protection to keep warm and move around.

Jacket is well made and will keep you warm during the cold winter months. Only real issue with the jacket is how bulky it is. The bulkiness makes it hard to drive comfortably in my truck with the jacket on.

Way too large! I understand “Loose Fit” is in the name but that was an understatement. My wife could fit in the jacket with me! The thin cuffs at the end of the sleeves were very uncomfortable on the wrist. The duck canvas and flannel lining was very thin and unable to keep me warm. The bottom of the jacket is supposed to hold tight to the hip to prevent airflow but it failed miserably at that task. This was my first time purchasing Carhartt brand and I’m underwhelmed. I’m returning it now that I’ve purchased a Wolverine jacket with stronger cuffs, thicker material/insulation, that fits.

Runs a little large but after the first wash it’s true to size. Bought this for cold weather fishing as I got tired of freezing for 8 hours on the water each week. Way better than expected, plenty warm with just a short sleeve shirt on under it in 40 degree weather. With a flannel and a long sleeve I think I’d be just fine in anything. Great and durable and probably the best jacket I’ve ever bought

This jacket replaced a Carhartt I've been wearing for 15yrs. I was a little worried about how stiff it was at first but after washing it once and wearing a few dozen times it's softened up nice.

This jacket fits and looks great. We’re experiencing a very windy and cold winter and this jacket blocks out almost all of the wind chill. The arms are a little long but it doesn’t bother me much. My only real complaint is that the hood does not lay down at all, it constantly hits the back of my head, and falls over my head completely when I bend down.

Arrived quickly, time was estimated at six to eight days but arrived in three. Fit well. It can get cold at night out here in the desert Southwest, especially during the winter months. And as I regularly have to stock, and sometimes have to clean, our freezers at work, that was an unexpected added benefit, that it works for that job as well. It does run a little bit large, but is mostly true to size, and is highly rated for cold prevention. It is true to ratings, works very well. I Recommend.

I really like this jacket. I was worried it would be too heavy, but its really isn't. It feel light but keeps me very warm in central Illinois winters. <br /><br />I am 5'7 and a bit chubby at 170 lbs, and a Medium fits me perfectly. A small is pretty snug and uncomfortable and I am drowning in a large. <br /><br />I think the only thing I wish was different is that I wish there was a zippered vertical chest pocket on the outside of the coat, as you find in the full swing jackets and many other Carhartt models. If it had that I would consider it the perfect jacket.

These jackets are great keeps me warm on these cold winter days that I work outside for work.
I've had a Walls coat for a good 10 years now. I got it in a large and the sleeves were kind of short and it doesn't really cover all the way down my back. It made me unsure what size to get with this. I used the sizing chart and it said to go with a small regular in the loose fit. I was skeptical and figured I'd have to exchange it but it was right on the money. Fits great, looks great, nice and warm. Hood does seem a little short as far as how much it extends out over your head but no big deal. Little stiff but just needs to be broke in. Love the 2 inner pockets especially 1 velcro and other with zipper. Major upgrade and know it will last. Overall very happy with it.

This jacket is so stiff that it is uncomfortable to wear. The zipper is almost impossible to start and very difficult to zip up. VERY disappointed!
My first Carhartt and I may a fantastic choice. Use the size chart; it nailed my fit perfectly. I am 63 and I am positive that this jacket will be handed down to one of my grandchildren after I no longer need it. After three washings, the outer shell is still somewhat stiff. Wearing it often will assist the break-in. Now this is my one, and only cold weather work jacket. 5 STARS!

It's work, and does a good gob of shedding water from melting snow, etc. The zipper is heavy-duty and easy to close even when wearing gloves.<br /><br />My ONLY complaint about the coat is the hood. The material of the hood is quite stiff. That's good when wearing it because it stays in place. But when you want to just put the hood down and now use it, it really resists this. IT doesn't want to just fold down and hang on your back, and often gets bunched up behind my head and the headrest of my truck's seats. Can I live with this? Yes. Is it a deal breaker or would it stop me from buying another one on the future? No. I do wish the material would fold better though.

I love this jacket. I am a woman, about 5’ 8” tall and of fairly slender build. I purchased the Men’s Small, as the women’s version in my size is actually bigger around but not as long in the sleeves, so not as good a fit. The color is nice. The Men’s is also Made in the USA, which matters to me. The jacket is warm and though it is heavy, it does not feel heavy when wearing it. Very satisfied. Shipping was as promised, and it arrived well-packaged.

Carhartt Duck Jackets are legendary. I expect the same quality from this one as the one I bought over 20 years ago. The material is stiff and takes some time to become pliable. The zipper is stiff and I trust it to will become easier to use as time passes. You can buy other brands that will same you a few (or many is some cases) dollars but you will NEVER find a better jacket.
My husband loves his jacket, the only reason we gave it 4 stars is because the hood is too stiff and gets in the way! We tried ordering a jacket without the hood, but it was not warm enough! This jacket is perfect for our cold Chicago winters, he just would like this exact jacket without the hood!

Typically great Carhart quality....... very warm and very durable. The only negative comment I can make is in regards to the attached hood. It does not lay flat against your back when not wearing it. Continuously poking you in the back of the head. The hood should be less bulky or removeable. Other than that its a great winter coat.

It is a great jacket. Just as comfortable and warm as my old one. The grey is a perfect color replacement for my old tan jacket. I was also happy that the cost was less than any Carhartt's I found at local stores. Plus my new jacket like my old was made here in the USA.

Jacket itself is great. Nice and warm. My problem is with the fit. Everything else carhartt I'm a large or large tall. I used the sixing chart and it said to get an xl tall. I knew that would be too large so I went with a large tall. I'm 6'2" 230 pounds. I'm swimming in this jacket. It's too big. I have an armstong jacket that is large tall aswell as a j130 both fit great at large tall. The j140 is way larger than those two in the same size. Won't be using it much but I'll lose 25% of the total cost if I return it because the shipping to Canada.

The one thing I don’t like about this jacket, but also do like is the hood. The hood is a little bit of a pain. It doesn’t fall/lay down like other jacket hoods do. When driving the hood is always pushing against my neck. When you do use the hood it keeps your head and ears nice and warm. When we got that last cold weather snap this jacket worked well at keeping me warm.

This thing is so warm. I got it to wear outside for walks and when snowshoveling and it's almost too warm (not a bad problem to have). My only critiques are that the hood is a little too stiff and the proportions are a little off for me, so it fits a bit awkward. That may relax as time goes on, I don't know. Nice coat with a lousy zipper. Inspected by Jenny. This zipper does not easily attach at the bottom and it is difficult to zip esp. at the bottom and halfway up at the seam. I sent it back.
He loves everything about it. The beginning of the zipper is still hard to zip. Hopefully that goes away with use.

I ordered my coat on Monday 7am and I received it this morning (Friday). I was a bit confused as to what size I should order. I'm 6'1" and 200 lbs. I have more of an athletic build (shoulders wider then waist) but I have a medium gut. I ordered the Large in Regular. <br />I tried it on and it's the perfect fit. Shoulders are good, sleeve length is good, waist is good and I also tried it with a heavy sweatshirt and it's good.<br />The material was stiff as well as the zipper. I washed in in cold water and tumbled dry. The sleeves are still slightly damp but it is probably 40-50% softer. A long time ago my aunt had shown me a trick about waxing zippers. I took a candle and waxed the teeth on both sides of the zipper. I ran the zipper up and down like 10-15 times and it's much smoother now.<br />So far I'm pleased and I just ordered another in coffee .. they used to call it Chestnut Brown many years ago. I hope this helps others. I gave 4 stars on durability because I don't know yet.

Jacket fits really well, and it is very warm right out of the box. Zipper takes some breaking in though. Get a size down from what you normally wear in your shirt size, unless you have a gut

The sizing calculator on Carhartt’s website said I needed a large tall, and it was pretty spot on. Its a bit loose but that’s the style( loose fit). Plenty of room for shrinkage and layering.By the way I’m 6’4” and 200 pounds. Awesome coat so far.

Runs BIG I am 5’8” 185 and a hoodie under in a size Medium is no problem at all. As 99% of folks have said size down 1 size. The firm duck hood is very stiff at first and pretty much just stays up… but that is what it is…
I usually get tall sizes, but all too often the sleeves are still short. Happily, the coat I received fits well and the sleeves are just long enough. I am very happy with the coat especially when the temperature is around 33 degrees and it is raining. The coat and hood get me warm and dry.
I had a Carhartt coat (I think it was the Detroit style) 30 years ago when I was a teen. All these years I’ve been missing out. I LOVE this firm loose duck jacket. I guess you can always come back home

Originally bought this jacket for the sole fact that comfort and warmth that it provides for the price is one hell of a deal. An investment made to be sure but after about a month of working in the warehouse and doing work outside I can say that this jacket means business. Would recommend going true to size as sizing up for me lead me to having a bit too much room .<br />Only downside I can possibly think of which isn’t really that much of an issue is when you initially gets the jacket it might seem a bit stiff but after some breaking in and usage it feels and looks marvelous.

Well if you don’t mind a HOOD on the back of your neck, or in my short experience with this coat , the hood is on your head. Had this coat <br />With a collar and still wear it. Called Carharrt and asked if they make one with a hood. My still is no longer made and you’ll be lucky if you find the size or color you like. Not sure whose in charge. One coat with, one without?
Overall, I'm very happy with my new coat. There are only a couple of things that stopped this from being a 5-star product.<br /><br />- the hood on the coat is very stiff and doesn't fold back against the coat all the way. This makes it uncomfortable when driving.<br />- The stitching at the bottom of the zipper is wrong, which is causing the coat to bunch at the bottom and not line up smoothly when zipping it up. I don't think this is a design issue; seems like someone messed up while sewing the coat and it made it past the QA check. Not enough that I would send the coat back, but still worth mentioning.

It's a larger fit, which makes it great if you like to wear added layers for extra warmth. You won't need extra layers unless you're in extreme cold because it is plenty warm. It's extremely comfortable for all day wear and is very resilient to wear and tears. I've been working in heavy rainfall off and on for an hour or so at a time and the outside of the jacket would be soaked but I never once felt it on the inside. Definitely a worth while investment.

Top notch product! Carhartt reliability and durability. I normally wear a 3XL and it was a bit big on me (and that's a pretty rare event). I exchanged it for a 2XL and it fits wonderfully!<br /><br />My last Carhartt lasted me almost 30 years - and this has the same tough and durable features. I'm 62 years old and this is probably the last jacket that I will ever need to purchase in my life - and will probably be wanted as a hand-me-down.<br /><br />For Christmas this year, it'll be all new Carhartt's for the entire extended family!

The sizes run a bit large. Where I normally would wear a Large in most other Carhartt jackets, the Large for the duck jacket left the shoulder seam about 3 inches below my shoulder and the sleeves fairly long. <br />Switched to the Medium and it fit well, but will take some breaking in on the top of the sleeve as it binds when reaching forward.
I own two of them because they are so warm and comfortable. Literally the only work jacket for the winter all the others dont compare.

I would highly recommend this jacket. It fits just right with room to layer if need be. I could use a little more warmth, but worked in 30deg F just fine. I would suggest to manufacturer to add a flap covering the pocket, this would prevent water from running into the pocket. It was worth spending a few extra dollars over other jackets. Very happy with this product.

I've wanted to purchase a Carhartt coat for many years but hesitated because I thought the price was high. This year I "bit the bullet" and purchased one during the extreme cold we had this year. I tried to find one at local retailers but all I could find was xl or larger. I purchased from the Carhartt estimating the size I would need. I purchased a large. I feel that the price I paid for the coat was well worth it based on the quality of coat I received. I also like that it was made in the US. The only issue I had was not being able to try on a large before purchasing. The large is a little big for me but I'm going to keep it. Maybe it will shrink a little after washing. Otherwise I love the coat!

A well-made in USA product. Warmer than it looks. Comfortable and rugged. It is very loose though. Get a size smaller than usual. I wish it didn’t have a hood—I prefer knit hats and the hood just gets in the way.
The coat I just purchased was to replace my old Carhart coat that was close to 20 years old. It was showing it’s age, fading and wear on the cuffs of the sleeves and such. Otherwise it held up very well. I would highly recommend Carhart products for longevity and comfort. A true bargain

It was a gift for my boyfriend who works outside all day. He loves it and it looks great on! You may want to check the sizes though to be sure of the fit. I got a large because he wears lots of layers and it worked great. He is kind of thin- seems to enjoy just a bit large.

True to size. Heavy Duty metal zippers and not the cheap plastic zippers that break so easily. A little stiff at first because of the heavy duty material but it is breaking in nicely. One drawback is would have been nice to have a zippered pocket on front of the jacket or to have the option on the top large hand pockets on the front.
I chose this Carhartt coat because I own a pair of Carhartt jeans which I love. This coat tends to run large in size, so benign of large size myself, I went with X Large and found I could fit all my underlying garments, sweater, hoodie, etc easily within its ampleness. Highly recommended for outdoor winter activities..

Its warm and durable but its like wearing a stiff piece if canvas. The hood won't even lay flat it is so stiff.
I love the jacket but I’m concerned about the material lining and how well it will hold up. I first took note of that concern when I hung the jacket up.
I've had this jacket for about 4 years now. In that time it has been the best, most comfortable and capable that I've had. It's extremely tough. I've caught barbed wire, nails, and scrap metal and it still hasn't torn. I'll honestly never buy a different brand again. This is an absolute must if your often outdoors im the cold.

I love Carhartt so much I went on their website to order a jacket as the one I wear from work is showing damage from age. I bought a new coat in black and loved the look but it was too large for me. Excellent customer service as I contacted Carhartt to return the coat but later gave it to my son who is happy to have it. I'll have to buy a smaller size.

This jacket is one that will last a long long time, at first it comes stiff but once you wear it and work in it everything loosens up and it molds to you. I can't wait to put this to use on my freezing camping trips and my hunting and fishing trips. I was a youtube video that said "when you put on this jacket, its time to go to work" and that exactly how I feel every time I put on this jacket. Its just a quality and amazing jacket.
Size-wise, the jacket runs a little big, but I'd rather have it a little larger than small. It's very warm and appealing. I've been out in the snow, shoveling, cleaning off cars and even sled riding, never got cold a bit!
Love the look and fit of this jacket. The only issue I have is how stiff the zipper is to use. Hoping the more I use the zipper, the easier it will get to use.

A very durable jacket. I had this jacket for 2 years and it's finally getting broke in. I like the multiple pockets and the hood does a great job in the cold wind. I would recommend waring a hoody underneath for maximum warmth.

I ordered a mens small, having had more or less the same one for years and years (I’m a woman, by the way). Love my old one as it’s broken in, soft and comfy. Sure do hope this one gets broken in soon but time will tell; it is warm, I give it that and I do love the inside pockets, just like the old one. Once the stiffness is worked out of it, it should be fine. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs warmth, a hood and the knowledge it’s going to last quite a while.

I’ve carhartt jackets for years and I’ve never been disappointed with any of them.
Bought 2 in different colors. Absolutely loved them on a snow trip and temps of 30 degrees stayed nice and warm. Quality is good, but one had a few small snags on it upon receiving them. I figured I’d abuse them at some point so didn’t want to wait fir an exchange. As far as sizing Carhartt Jackets are always one size larger so purchase depending on your style and desired layering preferences.

I haVE REAL PROBLEMS WITH CARHARTT. First I bought a jacket in Medium. It was so big, it looked like a XL. I return dit and bought a jacket in Small. This jacket was so small I couldn’t even zipper it up

So far it is fine. It looks good and is warm My only concern is how stiff the zipper is. Extremely difficult to zip up and down. I hope it does not start pulling the fabric apart . Time will tell. In the meantime I would give it a very good rating.

Runs bigger than expected but it is a quality product.
While it took me a year and a half to finally convince myself I needed one of these, it was the best decision I made when I decided to get one. I was told it would've been 7-10 days to get it, but it arrived in 2. While it is stiff for the first few times you wear it, if you wash it a time or two, it begins to work in better. 10/10 would recommend!

I have two of these Black and Tan i’ve had them both well in for 10 years and they definitely hold up. Definitely worth the price they have kept me warm every time. Being that I’m over 6’ spending the extra money for the tall version is definitely worth it.
Work outside a lot and these coats are hard to find . The ribbing at the cuffs and waist band keeps the wind out . Good quality
It’s a very warm jacket despite how thin it is. I recommend layering if it is below 30 degrees outside. The zipper is a little tough to use but will likely be smoother once broken in.

My husband loved his Carhartt Jacket. The quality, the look, and the style were great. Unfortunately, because of 2 strokes, the jacket was too heavy for him. We used to have a lawncare and snowplowing business. This jacket would have been perfect for him at that time.

This jacket is super warm and fits great. I use it for work and for staying warm when I camp. It is not very waterproof but does provide some resistance to a light drizzle.

Recieved jacket fast but is too tight. I measured myself per the sizing chart and definitely off a size. The zipper is also very hard to zip so I bought some zipper wax to help lube everything up but that did not help. Overall I'm kind of disappointed in how far downhill carhartt quality has become. Bought as an Xmas present for myself, wanting a warm-yet-durable winter jacket for outdoor activities. Arrived quickly, but after one wash - and following washing instructions - fabric discolored in many places and wrinkled all over. The wrinkles kinda came out after some sweating outside, but the discoloration remained.; it looks like someone snotted over a good portion of the jacket, and I don’t mean that as an artsy compliment. Tried twice emailing Carhartt photos of these problems, but never got a reply. Kinda bummed, because everything else about the jacket is perfect.

I bought two of these for my sons because they were always wearing mine. They love how much it keeps them warm when the temperatures and conditions usually require double layering. We can wear this jacket and stay warm while hunting and working outdoors.
Comfortable, warm, durable
Normally, I wear a 3X shirt or jacket, but I ordered the 2X-Long. A perfect fit with plenty of room for two or three layers underneath. This is one of a few garments I have ever owned with sleeves long enough to actually fit me. It is heavy-duty and very well made.<br /><br />The zipper is the heaviest I have ever seen. It was, initially, difficult to opperate, but after rubbing the teeth with a bar of soap it is smooth as silk. I can't see this zipper ever failing.<br /><br />As mentioned before, the hood could be a tad longer. When I flip it up, I can feel the weight of the jacket on top of my head. Wearing a cap makes it a little worse, but this is minor and I quickly got used to it.<br /><br />The front pockets would be better if they were flannel lined, but they are roomy enough for gloved hands.<br /><br />The jacket handles snow and freezing rain very well. None soaked through.<br /><br />How warm? With just a T-shirt under it, comfortable down to mid 30s. T-shirt and flannel shirt, to the mid 20s.<br /><br />Definitely recommend!

Washed coat in cold water then tumbled dry and the coat came out of the dryer with black marks from the lining of the coat. It was washed separately.

The jacket is awesome! I've been wearing it with a layer or two underneath and it's plenty warm for an Indiana winter. It does come stiff and it's a little big as I got a Large Tall (6'3" 215 lbs). Overall it's an awesome jacket and I'm glad I went with Carhartt rather than another off brand.

I have made purchases over 45 years with this product. It seems that the past 10 years, the quality has gone down. I use to get 5-7 years now at best with light use I get 2 years out of the Jacket.
I got one of these jackets when I was 16 for my birthday, and it lasted for almost 10 years. After the year that 2020 was I figured it was time to get another! I'm so glad I did. It is just like I remember and I look forward to wearing it this winter!

I BOUGHT THIS COAT AT CABELA'S IN SIZE LARGE REG. ALL THE COATS THAT I TRIED ON THEE ZIPPER ON ALL OF THEM WAS LIKE A CHAIN-SAW BLADE. AFTER THE 2nd. ONE I TRIED ON I HAD TO PUT A PAIR OF GLOVES ON. MY FINGERS HAD LITTLE CUTS ON THEM FROM THE ZIPPER. SOME COATS I COULD NOT ZIP UP.---TOO HARD. THE ONE I BOUGHT WAS HARD TO ZIP-UP. I FIGURED I COULD SAND PAPER IT SMOOTH THEN APPLY OIL. NOT MUCH BETTER. I COULD NOT RETURN IT, DUE TO THE SANDING AND OILING. I HAVE OWNED CARHARTTS FOR MANY, MANY YEARS, WITH NO PROBLEMS. YOUR QUALITY HAS GONE DOWN THE TUBES.

I keep this jacket in my garage putting it on cold it warms instantly and is great for when my wolfhound jumps all over me.

This is an awesome jacket! Gathered bottom, sleeves keep air out. Light rain/snow is not a problem for the material, the lining retains heat; keeps you dry and warm, very warm all day.

What I expected. Sturdy, warm, flexible. I really appreciate the sturdy fabric. I had an orange jacket that lasted 10 years. Last 4 years, boxer dog played tug-of-war with the sleeves, while I was wearing the jacket. It took her 4 years to shred the sleeves.

This jacket is heavy duty and withstands the cold weather. I had to do aerial work in Big Bear and it kept me warm from the cold weather and strong winds. But it’s also light weight enough that I can wear it casually in the city of Los Angeles on a chilly day. I’m no trend setter but my co-workers have also purchased this jacket after they saw me with it and that’s saying a lot due to the rugged work environment we’re in.

I bought this to replace an 18 year old Carhartt Jac that I had worn out. Looks every bit as good as the old one, feels warm and comfortable. I like the fact that it is USA made, and you still make clothes in Estill County Kentucky where my wife's grandmother used to work for Carhartt.

Overall great well built jacket. If you work outside in cold weather it is perfect. Just beware, I am 5’9 240 pounds and I am usually a 2XL. I ordered a 2XL and the jacket was huge so it runs very big. I ended up downsizing twice and the large fits me perfectly. Would definitely recommend.

Definitely bulky and stiff. If you are slim it puffs out on the stomach. Typical Mens Large and always order Medium in Carhartt because everything runs as if it's for larger than average people. Quality is awesome per usual but wish it would sit nicer.
Love the jacket! It keeps you warm and keeps the wind out too. They really last forever, last one lasted twenty years before I needed another. The only one thing that I didn’t like was the color, coffee. My last one was a darker brown, but not as dark as the other choice now. I like the Carhartt brown too.

There's a lot to love about this jacket: It's Union made in the USA, the material and construction are excellent, it's very warm, and it looks great.<br /><br />Unfortunately, a poorly designed hood makes this jacket very frustrating to wear. The hood is too short and too shallow to be useful. When I pull the hood on, it presses uncomfortably against the top of my head and doesn't even extend to my hairline. Obviously, these issues are exaggerated if I wear a hat. <br /><br />I bought this jacket from a great small business in my Brooklyn neighborhood. I don't have the heart to return it given the harsh economic climate, though under normal circumstances, I likely would.

It’s perfect
It’s a great jacket, I love that it was made in the USA, but it’s a little short in the arms. I’m 5’10” , 280lbs and I’m thinking I should of gotten the 2xl tall instead of the 2xl. <br />Also the zipper is uncomfortable and seems to catch my neck and chin area when it’s almost fully zipped. I like the attached hood but it could be better designed when tightening the drawstrings. It’s definitely warm and will protect you, but if you can try one on first I would recommend you do that. I was going to return it but the return process was a bit draconian, so I didn’t bother. I was also surprised and disappointed that the two outer pockets aren’t lined, kind of rough if you don’t have gloves on.
Warm and comfortable, great for delivery guys and truckers. I like that it allows for movement. Sometimes my keys or phone will slip out of the pockets but I always double check before leaving the truck.

It's an ok coat. My husband has only wore it a handful of times and it looks extremely worn. This didn't hold up as well as the one I bought him 5 years ago did. I'm disappointed in the quality of this coat for the money it cost.

I live in the Pacific North west and we get a lot of rain, I have tried various rain jackets and most of them do not really keep you dry and warm. This Jacket is great, fits perfect, its warm, and best of all I now stay dry. Now I just need to keep wearing it so its not so stiff.

Great coat but I wish I would’ve stuck to my original sizing (xl). I was steered away from the reviews saying they run big. I’m 6’1”, 220lbs. so I got a Large Tall. It’s a bulky coat in the arms but fits fine across the shoulders. My only concern is that it’s a touch short. Just enough to bother me. The coat is stiff, so it’s going to take some wearing in. Everything else about it is great. Super warm and wind proof. Zipper is a little tough to work but I’m hoping that changes after some uses. Would recommend 100%. Stick to your size (if you’re my size) and disregard the reviews.

Great coat unfortunately I ordered a large based on my old coat. Had to exchange it for a medium but thats my fault. I checked to coat out thoroughly before returning it for a medium and the quality was vastly better the other coats I checked out in the local stores, most from Asia. Can't wait for my replacement.

Incredible winter jacket for keeping warm. The ribbed cuffs and bottom keep the cold out. The quilted flannel lining keeps the warm in. Though the lining isn't very thick, the jacket is very poofy. Plenty of room for another layer if needed. The zipper is heavy duty, but mine was a bit hard to get going when I first got it. Got easier over time, but not smooth, and it still likes to get stuck at the seam marking the top of the outer pockets. 6' 3" 260. xl tall fits great.

Really needed a good coat/jacket. So far I am very satisfied. Very warm, thick, well made. Only complaints are the cuffs on the sleeves always want to tuck inside, instead of staying out. And that it is very stiff. Guess I just need to break it in more, considering I haven't had it long. <br />Any tips on how to make it less stiff??

This jacket/coat speaks for itself. Extremely durable. Been buying the j140 for years and never a letdown in the cold Pittsburgh winters. Be nice if the j140 came in the dark green. Have (2) black j140's. One for work and casual wear.
Great jacket. I just suggest you down size atleast 1 size. I normally wear an XL so I bought an XL but it fits pretty big.

Needed an upgrade, got 4yrs out of the last 1. Its still in good shapes just a little faded.
All I can say is this jacket is so stiff and ridged that I'm not wearing it. I have washed it with fabric softener hoping to soften it up but it made no difference. Not happy with it at all

It doesn't fit
Can’t give it an accurate rating since I haven’t worn it yet. Used the true fit guide to figure out what size and ordered accordingly. I’m not a big guy by any means but I ordered an XL and it’s HUGE! I can fit my wife and I in the jacket. Glad Carhartt has a simple return policy. Will be ordering a size smaller and give another review.
I live here in Michigan and have always seen Carhartt but never owned any. While I don't have an outdoor job I do spend plenty of time doing yard work in spring/summer fall/winter. It is very warm and will serve as a coat for blowing snow and just a general winter coat. It is very well made. To me it runs a bit big. I purchased a large and I am 5'11 210 lbs and still have plenty of room. While I am larger across the shoulders the XL was just too big. The large fits great.

Normally wear a medium but a small fits perfect. Cuff of sleeve recesses in because sleeve is a little long but not uncomfortable. Better too long than short. Good jacket.

Those are important for me because that's actually where I put my important belongings but the front pockets are like "hoodie" pockets so its very comfy. And i love that its not fem cut. Returned. During the past decade, the quality and consistency of carhartt products has been rapidly declining. Purchased this jacket ten years ago and wear it daily. Decided it was time to get a new one and use the older version as a back up. When it arrived I could tell immediately the entire thing was off. The fabric is completely different. The fit is not the same. I understand that there is considerable break in time on this jacket, but believe when I say the newer one was not worth the time or effort.
I like the thermal lining better than the quilted lining It seems to hold lint and hair and things like that
This is a really great jacket. This thing is windproof and incredibly warm. It's a little stiff at first, but after washing it according to the directions on the tag and a short break in period it's very comfortable. You get your money's worth with this jacket. They last for years.

I haven't worn it yet because it's not cold outside yet but the quality is top notch. I can tell this jacket will last a very long time. It fits a little loose but I'm in between a small and a medium so I will say it's true to size.

I ordered this J140 as a replacement for my J21 which I have had for years. It is now discontinued.<br />The J140 is a well made jacket/coat, but as the description states is made a little larger to accommodate clothing layers. So I strongly recommend following the sizing instructions as I did although it worked out being the same size.<br />Although I would have preferred the quilted lining I had prior, I am happy with the flannel lining of the new model.<br />Overall, I am very happy with the new coat.

I love this jacket and I tell my friends
Good quality jacket however I find it fits kind of short and wide. I’m 6’2” and 220lbs. I wear a size 43 suit jacket so judging by the size guide I went with a large. Jacket barely hits my waist and even with a hoodie on under it there’s still planets of room/looseness through the torso. Would be more ideal in my opinion if it was a little more fitted/not so roomy.

I am still working on getting it broke in. Let me start by saying I am a bigger man so had to go with a bigger size. It has plenty of room if not a little big for me. My only complaint is it seems really short and not only that the waist is really over sized so it doesnt hold around my waist. So much so I might have to have someone alter the jacket.

Often times people forget the crowd carhartt was created to cater to. So most people do not take into consideration all of their products run much larger than any other brand you typically will buy. I suggest really measuring your self and looking at the size guide. I often like to wear things oversized so i typically go for a large in most brands but however oversized is a medium for me in carhartt. Hope this helps :)

My husband says it is perfect. He had one a long time ago and has wanted another one. Now he has this one and I told him it would last longer than he does. LOL. He agreed. Other than the sleeves being too long (he has short arms since he is only 5' 3" tall), it fits him well.
I don't really care about the look, but trust me is very functional I can wear it in cold weather to keep me warm and in hot days to keep me cool, is kinda waterproof too because it can get wet in rainy days but keeps you dry
The Duck Quilted Flannel Lined Active Jacket was a solid purchase.<br />Pricing is very fair, quality is high, the sizing runs a little big, but overall I am happy with the jacket. I'd prefer if it had some additional pockets.

This is trash im sorry ive been a Carhartt fan have had 3 coats multiple hoodies even tshirts and socks. I even buy your coats for my sons and gave my father one for his birthday this year. But i ordereda coat off line J131 and there is zero insulation in this coat i live in Buffalo New York how am i ever gonna keep warm. Its a shame when i legit have spent over a thousand dollars on your products this year alone and have to buy another coat when i jist bought one i can never use.
