I expected a lot more from Carhartt. I purchased this jacket late in the winter of 2018/2019. The jacket is already at the end of it's life. This jacket received light use. And was never abused. It's it not even moisture resistant. My last coat was a different brand, cost half as much, was water proof and received very heavy use and lots of abuse. That coat lasted me 10 years. There is something seriously wrong when a budget coat radically outperforms Carhartt in every way possible. I am not a particular fan of the other brand. But in this case they beat the snot out of Carhartt.
It's way too big, but I didn't figure that out until I wore it to work (aka too late to return by my standards)<br /><br />The sleeves are too long (I may have went a size too big but either way, they would've been too big)<br /><br />The ribbed arm cuffs fit, but do not keep the jacket in place, it keeps sliding up.<br /><br />The waist ribbing is too loose, more than one size too loose. (Idk where I found the sizing guide I ended up on, but it said the size I picked and it was so very wrong).<br /><br />It is very warm though! I do give it that (Don't like the hood due to the outside material making it really stiff, but I couldn't wear the hood bc too hot then so it's warm!)

I love it. I ordered one larger enough I could wear a hoodie under it in the winter and the jacket is light enough on its own to wear in the spring and fall.

Last jacket was over 10 years old worn daily for farm work and needed replacement. Ordered a medium in the sandstone and is slightly bigger than my old one which was also a medium but firm duck. I feel like sizing has changed even with long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts too. Jacket fits well over bibs and a hoodie but loose alone.
This is my fourth J130. Works and fits great. I only wish they still had wine color .
Only black was available. Its warm though. Very roomy

I bought this as a christmas present for my boyfriend. He loves it! I ordered a regular XL, and although he is very tall, he said he likes the fit. I was worried I should have ordered a XL "tall", and offered to exchange it for him, but he said no, it's perfect!

I've worn these jackets for about 40 years all but the hot months of summer and parts of Spring and Fall that are still to hot for these jackets. Their performance and comfort for cold and windy Nebraska weather is outstanding. They do wear around the cuffs pretty fast. I usually get around 4 years from a jacket with that time extended by a trip to my shoe repair guy who has a machine that can mend the frayed areas. I highly recommend these jackets to everyone who want to be comfortable in the cold.

I recently bought the XL Tall fit of this jacket and it fits perfectly. The sleeves feel good and the jacket is as solid as any jacket I’ve ever had. Would love an aiddtional pocket on the inside but other than that great jacket.
this jacket was a surprise for my husband.... His old carhartt jacket was a 5 year old, blood stained and beaten up light tan... the cuffs and neck were frayed.... When he wore it I said he looked like a hobo, he said yeah but I'm a warm hobo... it was still his favorite work jacket.... Now I have no complaints when he leaves the house...I also got the vest and the no cuff knit cap.
My wife purchased this item for me. I loved it but I did feel that it wan a little short for my taste. I brought it to the store without a receipt or tags and they ordered me a new one in the tall size. It fits like a dream and gets even better with age.
I'm highly satisfied I won't look for another brand jacket after owning one of these.. This jacket is my priority one to wear. I like the dark brown, moss green, and midnight blue color options. I have a midnight blue already that you guys repaired my worn sleeves at no charge that I have about outgrown so I bought this dark brown in the next size up. I'm plannning on getting a moss green this fall to accent my wardrobe as well. I like how it's made and how the sizing is not to too large but relaxed allowing movement while still keeping in body heat. My midnight blue one has been rigorously tested and has exceeded expectations in harsh environments. The hoods are awesome to protect ears and neck from harsh conditions. Just an awesome product. I plan on purchasing another midnight blue one as well in the future. Customer Service is awesome as well. You exchanged my first J140 in coffee color for my preferred color of dark brown in the J130 with no hassles and I appreciate this. So very satisfied with everything overall. Nothing disappointing with this.
Runs a bit large. Would be great if their picture showed a sizing chart behind the guy. Very comfortable. Sleeves are a bit long. The cuffs by the wrists are already wearing out

This is my fifth carhartt coat. I purchased my first one in 1994. They average about 5 years of heavy punishment before they need to be replaced. once replaced, I use my old coat for really dirty jobs and get another year or two out of it. I don't mind paying the $110 for a quality durable coat, but like I said, this is my fifth coat and I have never received a loyalty or returning customer deal on any of my five purchases. Granted, Carhartt might not be aware of the number of coats I have purchased since this is the first through their website, but some consideration would be great.

Not Happy with Quality.......
I live in the interior where it's been bouncing between -20c and -40c for the last few weeks. I was dragging a chunk of a tree that went down in the wind over my shoulder with no worry of it tearing through the jacket and warm enough to be sweating in -30c snow.I'm a big guy, and went by the sizing of the shirt I was wearing when I ordered it, the size finder said 5XL like the shirt but it's big enough that I could easily have dropped a size and still had room for a sweater under it.I like that the pockets come up on the side so no worries about something falling out but they could be a little bigger.The material inside the arms is different than what's inside the body, so when I first put it on the arms feel cold but that only lasts a few seconds.
Keeps my boy warm. Can't get him to take it off. A bit too much room but that's expected from Carhartt.

5 stars. The coat that this one is replacing served me well after crawling around in dirt, oil, grease, you name it. The only thing that gave out were the front pockets, otherwise it would still be a great coat. I got every last penny out of that coat and the new one is just as great. I am so pleased with the jacket, color was exactly what I wanted and the fit is great. I really appreciate the elastic waist, it never binds and it never rides up leaving your back exposed to the cold. The hood is great when the wind and snow are determined to attack your face and neck. I have had other cold weather jackets and they can't compare to the comfort and quality of this one.

Great coat. The lining is thin and very warm. The coat is stiff but loosens up with wear. The XXL Regular is slightly short. Pockets are not lined but are warm.Tough coat, I recommend it to everyone I know.

It fits very well and is very warm. The only thing I have negative is the Zippers on all of my new purchases are hard to close. I had to put lubricant on them and work them a lot,and they are still rough to close. they will need a lot of working before they hopefully smooth out.

I bought this jacket to replace my old work jacket. It was a Wall’s brand. Whiched lasted me over 15 years. So I wanted something similar. This jack fits true to size. Doesn’t feel bulky wearing it. A bit stuff still. I’m sure it will break in over time. The only complaint I have about the jacket is. The waist could be tighter at the bottom of the jacket. I’ve tried a couple carhartt jackets and they all run to short and wide. I’m 6’1” and 175lbs and the medium long is a perfect fit. Slim enough to not feel like I’m swimming in it, and long enough so I stayed covered while in uncomfortable positions

The jacket was just what I ordered, it was warm but it was too big...had to send it back. I will be reordering the correct size once my return is processed.
I am rating this on service only. We received this very quickly from the date of order, I think within a week. This is a Christmas present for our son, so I cannot give a rating for other areas. However, I will say that my husband has had various Carhartt items and he’s been extremely pleased with all of them.
Im 22 now but i want to say 10-12 years ago or more my dad bought me one that was a size too big and told me i would grow into it and never need another one again. And to my surprise, he was right! I still have the coat and its still keeping me warm every winter and will continue to for a very long time. And if it ever does need replacing i know where to find another well made and long lasting coat

6-7 years ago I bought this jacket with the Wisconsin "W" logo on it. It was the first one I ever had, not only was it comfortable but I received compliments on it everywhere I went (I live near Madison, WI) I wear it all the time, around the garden, shed, wood cutting, snow removal etc and it is finally starting to fray around the edges. I was hoping I could still get one with the Wisconsin logo on it, but it doesn't look like they are available, so I just ordered another in classic brown. Can't say enough good stuff about the quality of this jacket!

Awesome jacket had my last one for two years and loved it. Was warm as heck and kept me dry. But after about two yrs of having it the back for some reason started tearing apart. It was almost like a cat was using it as a scratching post. And no I do not own any cats due to being allergic. But with everything I do in it I was pretty pleased with jacket. For 100 bucks and a jacket lasting 2 yrs of use in cutting and grinding metal, welding in it, working on vehicles in it, building homes in it . Just overall abuse to the jacket I felt it help up pretty well and I am now looking into all the other styles carhartt offers before I choose my next reliable carhartt. Hope this one will last a bit longer though cause I plan to spend a lil extra money on the extra flexible jacket line
My husband loves this jacket. He is outdoors in freezing rain for several hours at a time and still manages to stay warm and dry. This jacket is a replacement for the same model jacket that is 20 years old and has been used and abused on a regular basis.
Love this jacket. Comfortable and adaptive between 30-50 degrees, does well in dry and wet conditions. Zipper could use an upgrade and sometimes catches but the overall product is a durable fantastic value

The pictures here are inaccurate. I got a large and it fits down to my waist fine and through my arms fine, but overall the thing is gigantic like it is made to fit a 350 pound person, so it looks ridiculous on someone who is a normal weight. The entire thing is too stiff to be comfortable and I've had it for 2 years now. Sitting down in a car is very uncomfortable because of it and the hood constantly touches the back of your head even when you're not wearing it and it is too stiff to push out of the way. The zipper is an absolute struggle to use because it doesn't want to budge. I suppose durability hasn't been a problem.

Ordered two jackets. They shipped quickly and were just what I ordered.
Wore this jacket through one season with the forest service a few years ago and it held up great in the weather and was super durable for the work. It was warm enough and windproof and kept me pretty dang dry too. Even though it's not waterproof it still kept the water at bay for quite a while. Still using the same jacket today and haven't had to replace it yet
I used to have one of these years ago that was passed down to me from my father. I wore it in the winter running a chainsaw and I didn't have any issues sweating or becoming cold. Recently purchased a new one and looking forward to breaking this one in.

I ordered mine in a large (tall) because I did not want it to be short in the waist. I'm still wondering how the large regular might fit. It's also a little roomy inside , which can be great for layering. Great quality. Great for outdoor work or play. I would suggest getting the jacket in your normal size and go from there.

I can't say anything about this jacket that hasn't been said in every other review as far as the jackets quality is concerned. It is extremely well built, and very warm. I do want to love the jacket. <br /><br />One negative that I don't see mentioned much is the sleeve length and especially the rib-knit cuff. I'm 5'10", 170lbs and am a average build, I wear a Medium-Regular for almost everything. This jacket has pretty bad "sleeve creep", they tend to ride up your arm and stay there until you pull them down (due to the cuff), and I'm not overly active in this jacket. It happens from something as simple as raising your arm to take a drink from a cup. I feel if there was extra length in the sleeves it would solve this issue. It seems like a minor issue, and maybe it is, but it is incredibly annoying to me and I can never forget that I'm wearing the jacket because of it.
This is a pretty good jacket. It runs a little large and is kind of poofy. It also is kind of low cut at the waist. This quilt lining is much warmer and better feeling than the traditional thermal lining. Overall it gets the job done, but I prefer a different look and cut.

Great coat!! Fits a little large, which is perfect. Very warm. Try wearing a Carhartt insulated zip-up sweat shirt underneath and you're ready for minus temps. I've worn this coat in minus 10 F, along with a strong wind and kept warm. Also, as usual, this is a rugged high quality product. By the way, I still wear a Carhartt coat that I purchased 30 years ago as well. Come to think of it, most of my cloths are Carhartt.

I usually wear size XL in all my others shirts, sweaters or jackets. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase the size L tall because some reviews said it's short length wise. The L tall fits me perfect how I like my sweaters to fit. I'm 5,11 190 pounds. I would recommend this jacket.

I bought this jacket because they are the best jacket I have ever bought. I love the wind/water resistance. I had one when I was growing up and loved it. So I wanted another one. Got this for my wife. It looks great and she loves it.
Warm, tough jacket. Length is perfect. It's a little on the stiff side, but I expected that. My only real issue is that particles from chain sawing have a tendency to stick to the lining both inside and in the hood. The other thing I noticed is that the zipper is very stiff, but it has now started to wear in and is better.

The zipper on this jacket is difficult to start. It looks like the start of the zipper is sewed too close to the jacket material causing it to jam. <br />I replaced a jacket that I had for five years with this one. This jacket fits fine, is warm and comfortable. Except for the zipper I really like this jacket.
Ordered a size larger than I normally wear and they it fits perfectly.<br />Pleaseed with the look and feel of the garment. Would recommend to anyone interested in a warm outfit. I use mine for plowing snow and general work outside. Great product.
My son really likes this jacket but it is although I think it is a little short on the bottom. It was not as warm as he needs and so we ordered another carhart jacket that is warmer but you have to buy a seperate hood. So now he has two great jackets.

This is my fourth Carhartt work jacket they wear like iron and give me years of great service.
My first one the stitching came out so I returned it and got another one. This one, so far so good! I love it and it's super warm! Great investment for the kind of work I do and the weather.

Love the Coat EVERYONE knows carhartt brand. My only complaint would be like other "knock off" or Outfitter store brand they use a thing flannel lining on the inside of the front pockets which seems to feel nicer than just the unlined pockets on this brand.

I have been wearing Carhartt jeans for years as they are stronger fabric and last much longer than Levis. I have only worn the jacket for a week, but that is when the temp outside is below 30. Warm as toast. Also it is very easy getting in/out of the car and there are no issues with seat belt. When the hood is used it is like being inside I am so warm !!!!
my go to coat in the winter. have had for 3 years and was very happy with it right up to the point the zipper fell apart.<br />now its have a new zipper installed or get a new coat.
Going on third coat in 5 years. Coats all look great but the zippers are absolute junk. I am not hard on these coats either. Very poor quality!

This is my second one, I purchased my first about 10 years ago and finally broke the zipper. I will replace that, and use the 1st for anything working outside. the new one I nice enough to wear everyday casually. It's a great fit, warm, and comfortable. It doesn't ride up while sitting in a vehicle like some do. I'd highly recommend this coat.
My only complaint is with the cuff wearing out.. But I guess after 14 years something has to wear..<br />Wish I knew how to repair this problem then I could wear it for another 14 years
I am a retired Merchant Seaman, I wore a coat of yours that was similar to this Coat for 20 years, they are fabulous. I worked on Ships all over the world, A lot of them were Tankers in Alaska in the Winter and every one knows that is as Cold as it gets. I was never cold at any time with this coat on while working on Deck in Blizzards, ETC. I would Highly recommend this type of coat if you may be working in any kind of COLD WEATHER They are great.

I've had my J130 in Moss green for four years now.<br />This jacket handles every type of cold weather we get around here and none of the *non stop* wind ever gets past it. It has two inside pockets, one zip and one Velcro. It's also got a heavy duty main zipper. For cold weather I usually wear it zipped up and hood on. One of the best things about Carhartt attached hood jackets is how there is plenty of room to ad a hat under the hood without having any restriction in movement. I've been wearing Carhartt for almost 20 years and it is the only brand I'll buy.
To be pleased would be an understatement. Im 6'4''' tall and lean so finding a winter coat that fits and is durable has been impossible till now. I have looked on dozens of web sites and countless stores looking for tall sized jackets that were durable enough for regular outdoor use. I found this jacket in a store and liked it so much I went home and ordered the same jacket in a tall size off the Carhartt website. It arrived quickly and fit perfect. Don't worry about ordering a size larger unless you need it because they're already roomy jackets. Im very happy and will be a returning customer.

I love this jacket. I have always been envious of my guy friends that owned them--until now. As you can guess I'm a woman. I'm 5 feet 10 inches tall and with extremely long arms and this jacket fits me perfectly right off the rack in a men's regular large. Lately, when I order women's coats, I need a tall because of the sleeves and my height! Plus, this jacket is unbelievably warm and it has inside pockets. They don't bother with that feature in women's jackets, anymore

This is a great jacket. Keeps you warm and is very durable. I use it almost everyday during the winter. I bought a large/tall and fits me perfectly (I'm 5'11" 180lbs). The only this is, is that for the midnight color, it is actually much darker (closer to black). I don't mind though because its still a great jacket.
This is by far the most well constructed jacket i have ever owned, from the tripled-stitched detail along the seams to the beefy zipper. I've been reading some of the reviews and most of them are spot-on. I'm a 2xl guy and i found that the 2xl is the most perfect fitting garment i've ever worn!. Definitely recommend this product over its' unworthy competition!

The J130 is a very warm jacket that is generously sized. This jacket has Carhartt's flannel quilt lining which is among their warmest lining it is comfortable and doesn't inhibit movement. The attached hood is warm and well-made. The front hand warmer pockets are unlined.<br /><br />My complaints with this jacket are fit related as someone of average height with a bit of a gut. The sleeves are too long for size (by about 2 inches in a Large Regular). I wear a 33 inch arm length dress shirt and the sleeves on a large covered the knit cuffs that are not supposed to be hidden on this style, would expect this on a Tall size but not a Regular size) and the back of the jacket is a bit too roomy for me bunches out. I personally prefer the fit of Carhartt jackets and coats with bi-swing backs and pleated elbows they are more true to size. I tried a smaller size than I would usually buy and it was a bit tight in the mid-section. From my experience with Carhartt products the J130 runs large for size, you may want to try this one on before buying it.

I got this jacket right before I started college in 2004. I had heard of Carhartt, but had never used any of their products before. To say the least, I was impressed. I have used this jacket every winter since, and it never let me down. I have been hunting with it, worked outdoors, put it through some tough tests, and it never failed. The durability is unrivaled. I recently got a new coat, one without a hood, and am giving the J130 to a friend. Carhartt is the only brand I trust now for durable, long lasting clothes. Im a big guy, 6' and 300lbs., so the big and tall selections are nice too. I own many carhartt products, and they are all top quality.

I Love everything about this Jacket. Awesome for the cold weather elements while I'm working. Fit is perfect. Feels great and the warmth is post-toasties no matter what weather that I'm out in working.<br /><br />My only recommendation would be is too put some type of draw-string system on both sides by the hem of the jacket, so as too pull Tight, so the cold winter air can't come up from underneath.<br /><br />Other than that, an Awesome jacket for outdoor use.
This has to be my favorite jacket of all time. Fits great, looks great, and will last a long time. Most jackets i have i always break the zipper, but this one is pretty beefy. Would buy again for sure.
I recently purchased this Jacket because I was in need of something I could wear that was warm and able to withstand lying on gravel under my truck while working on it.<br /><br />This Jacket EASILY meets those needs! The material is strong and the seams are very well done. The outer zipper is high quality, and large enough to be able to zip while wearing gloves.<br /><br />There are two inner pockets for items that need to be protected, like a wallet and a cell phone. One is bigger and has a zipper, while the other has a Velcro strip to hold it closed.<br /><br />I chose this jacket for the Carhartt reputation, and it did not let me down.

I'm very disappointed that the so called "hand warmer pockets" are unlined. Due to the nature of my work, I cannot wear gloves most of the time. At 29 degrees I have to use my pants pockets to warm my hands. The cold comes right through the single duck outer lining of this jackets pockets and the inner lining keeps your body warmth away from your hands.
I have purchased quite a few jackets in my life. By far this Carhartt Style # J130 Men’s Sandstone Active Jac/Quilted Flannel Lined is the best jacket i have ever had the pleasure to own. I bought it for protection from the extreme weather conditions where I live. From the moment I purchased it I was as comfortable as a baby in the womb. I was outside for 6 hours snowblowing mine and my neighbors sidewalks and driveways. I never once even thought about that it was 15 degrees outside. I am totally sold on the Carhartt line and would highly recommend it to anybody looking to keep warm when mother nature gives you the cold shoulder.
This has got to be the staple jacket in any tradesman/laborer's wardrobe. I have gone through a few of these over the years and I can always rely on the unbelievable durability and function of this jacket. It is the perfect match to my quilt lined duck bibs too. This fits more like a bomber style jacket would, only with a hood, it is by no means "slim-fitting" whatsoever. This fits true to size, but expect there to be plenty of room for layering underneath.

I needed to order the big/tall large online because the stores by me do not carry tall sizes. The sleeves and length are perfect for me; being 6' 3" it can be hard to find a good fitting, durable, comfortable coat.
I like to keep two winter jackets with hoods so when the time recently came for me to replace another hooded jacket, for me, there was no other logical choice but a J130. My J140 is warm, functional, and a great jacket, but I wanted something that was a little less utilitarian (no insult implied or intended) and more causal in nature...something I could have for casual everyday wear in cold weather. For me the J130 fits my needs nicely. It's Carhartt rugged, and warm and I expect years of service, but the micro-sanded/washed finish gives the J130 a finer look that, for me, makes it ideal for casual everyday wear. If you're looking for a jacket that blends Carhartt's trademark rugged dependability with a casual everyday appearance I recommend the J130.
Perfect for cool weather. great looking jacket. Outer material very durable yet somewhat stiff. Inner linning very soft but doesnt seem very durable. Kinda wish I had got the sherpa linned one.
so far i haven't even had a chance to try it out since it started to get in the 70s and 80s where i am but i ordered this jacket to replace my Carhartt Jacket i had that i ruined with a bunch of transmission fluid (was a very good jacket, had it for 7 years and nothing wrong with it at all, was a casual jacket and work jacket, still going to keep it as a jacket that i wouldn't mind getting stains on). the only problem i had wtih the other jacket (similar to this one but different lining) was that it seemed to keep me warm until it got down to maybe 50. once it got below that it couldn't keep my warm even zipped up. i know i could add another layer but i don't like doing that, im just a t-shirt and jacket guy, don't like to put 3 or 4 layers on if i can't help it. so i figure i try this one with a warmer lining, saw that it's very warm but doesn't get to hot if unzipped open. the jacket has the sandstone outer which my other jacket had and it was very durable. i have no doubt that this will be as good as my other jacket but just be warmer. i have a hunting jacket that is VERY warm but i wanted a Carhartt that is also warm and i wouldn't mind working in and also wouldn't get to hot.<br /><br />This person is part of our Field Testing program and may have received this product for free. This product is great. I have had one for 5 years and still holding strong. Wear it to work outside in and for casual wear. You will not get cold in this coat. Recently bought my boyfriend one because I know he won't rip it to shreds while fixing barb wire fences. Every chance I get I recommend the Carhartt brand.

This jacket is very well made and I love the deep wine color. Please make more of your jackets available in this color! However. it is a very heavy coat. I will use it for camping and other outdoor activities. I prefer the weight of the thermal lined for daily use because it is not as bulky. I just wish the thermal lined came in deep wine. Overall an extremely nice coat for cold outdoor activities. Fit was true to size.
My husband purchased this jacket for me and I don't think he could of made a better choice! I love it. This jacket arrived just in time for our record cold wave. The quilting is WARM! Mine is a very pleasant moss color. The knitted cuffs and waist seal out the wind nicely and the integral hood is handy, especially if you forget to bring a hat like I always do. The canvas duck outer shell is rugged and built for work, but I think it looks casual enough to wear anywhere whether you work outdoors for a living or not. I added push button cord locks to the hood drawstrings. The quality is unmatched. It is gratifying to see this level of workmanship and high quality materials being used to make work and casual clothing in a time when poor quality often hides behind designer status to boost profits. If you are hard working and value good old fashinoned quality, Carhartt IS designer status.
This is a jacket that you will wear for a lifetime. It will most likely last you for a lifetime. I work on buildings and when it's cold, this jacket is a good choice to wear on the job site. I would defintely recommend this product to a friend.

I got my jacket about a year ago, it was my second one. I grew out of the other one. But I LOVE my jacket. Its so comfortable and fits perfect. I can wear it on the coldest days and still warm. You can also wear it inside and still be comfortable. I wouldn't trade my jacket for anything.

I have had this jacket for about 3 years. I live in Virginia, where the winters are not super harsh, but do get cold. I have had the jacket in weather as cold as 20 degrees, and feel it could hold up to much colder temperatures. I am a big guy, and Im happy I found a brand with such a wide selection of Big/Tall clothes. The main reasons I like this jacket are that it lasts, and its still as warm as when I bought it. I plan to buy from Carhartt again very soon.

They wear them all the time and they have held up very good. I don't think you can<br />wear them out. They wash up real good also.<br />Shows no stains. I would definetly buy another one. Need one or two girly colors in the women's. A few of the colors look worn and washed straight from the retailers. They stain easily but hey, that's what theyre made for and it's bound to happen if you're the type looking to buy one in the first place. I'm just a laundry freak and wish I could have my cake and eat it too. ;-) I am a 29 yr old female, homemaker and mother of five. I have had a few of these, known many to own thier own and see those I don't know wearing thiers too. For the purpose it serves, you can't get too much better in comfort unless you start lacking in it's durability so I have to give it a thumbs up still for that. I'd have to say if you spend any amount of time outside doing any kind of activity, you NEED to have one of these. The sandstone is much more "giving" and to me, seems not to lack any from the regular but I'd have to own both to swear to it. Overall, top quality, durabilty, lifespan and most sensible for the true outdoorsman (or woman, like me)!
I work for the Nevada Conservation Corps and wear Carhartt double knee work pants/overalls and my flannel lined jacket everyday. I wear this jacket 24-7, 5days a week, in weather and environments of all kinds; from high elevation desert in Nevada to Death Valley in California. I building hiking trails with nothing but picks, mcleod's, and pulaski's, build habitat for endangered species using nothing but my Carhartts and hands, decommission roads with hackhammers, etc and Carhartt keeps me not only comfortable, but safe. I wear this jacket in the cold, the wind, the rain, and it always keeps me toasty and dry; its amazing! When you are working in the wilderness comfort and warmth are key to staying alive and healthy and I wouldn't be able to do it without my Carhartt gear. I wore 1pair of double lined work pants every single day for a year, without showers or laundry machines, and they are still good as new despite the stains from all my hard work (no rips, tears, holes, broken belt loops, etc). I have two of these jackets. Both are excellent outer wear. The first jacket is about 12 years old and has been through it all. The second jacket was a christmas gift this past year and has a long hard life ahead.
I bought this jacket and I live in Minnesota and I wore this coat with a hoodie sweatshirt under neath and I was warm at -20 degrees. I have yet to be cold in this jacket.<br /><br />I would recommend sizing up so that you can wear a hoodie underneath. That will ensure you never get cold. On the warmer days or when I am working hard, I take the hoodie off and I then I don't get all sweaty. With the hoodie off the extra space acts like a bellows and ensures that you have a fresh air exchange....thus, you don't get all sweaty.<br /><br />The sandstone finish feels broken in right out of the box. I liked it so much I bought the insulated (quilted) bib overalls to match.
I buy Carhartt products for my crew's uniforms, and I'm never disappointed. This jacket is the same quality as the first one I bought - except this one is for the new guy!
Like everything about the coat except for the length, I orderd a 5xL"Im a big guy" and it is very warm and very comfortable, nice quality, But for a 5XL it is way to short on length, It barely covers the top of my pants, This might be the reason I look for another coat. They dont offer a 5 XLT! which is what I probably require, I have a very long torso. Be carefull with sizes.
This jacket has quickly become the favorite of my closet. It is something I dont have to worry about working in because I know its built for that. It also is great to beat the wind. I work outside a lot and I hardly need to wear anything underneath it even in sub-freezing weather and wind. I love it!

This jacket is great for camping the warmth and durability of it is excellent great for the woods or beach camping and the hood is a plus for unexpected bad weather. (tip) if your using it in the rain alot an extra coat of Scotch Guard is recommended as the jacket can only repel water for so long on it's own
i was skeptical about switching from shepra lining to this one, im very cold blooded, but this one has proven to be just as warm and has a little lighter feel to it. As always Carhartt makes a very durable shell. I would recommend this to anyone.

This is probably my favorite jacket i've ever owned. Very warm when the wind is blowing, the cuffs keep tight around my wrists to keep my arms warm, and with the hood up and zipped all the way to the top it keeps me comfortable when outside in the wind and cold
I debated between and tried on several Carhartt jackets and coats before purchasing this one and I can confidently say I picked the best one. With the attached hood, cuffs in the wrists to keep the cold and wind out, and the cinching waist band to keep the warmth in, this jacket provides the best coverage and protection. The clean and simple design makes it great for casual wear and looks great no matter what your wearing it for. Glad I found it!
December of 2008, I was shoveling my driveway and slipped on some unseen ice. Broke my leg and was unable to move. Was on the ice for 45 minutes before one of my neighbors found me. This coat kept me warm even with laying on the ice. The hood and length down past my waist kept the cold from the ice from chilling me. This was the best coat I have EVER purchased. I expected a lot more from Carhartt. I purchased this jacket late in the winter of 2018/2019. The jacket is already at the end of it's life. This jacket received light use. And was never abused. It's it not even moisture resistant. My last coat was a different brand, cost half as much, was water proof and received very heavy use and lots of abuse. That coat lasted me 10 years. There is something seriously wrong when a budget coat radically outperforms Carhartt in every way possible. I am not a particular fan of the other brand. But in this case they beat the snot out of Carhartt.

It's way too big, but I didn't figure that out until I wore it to work (aka too late to return by my standards)<br /><br />The sleeves are too long (I may have went a size too big but either way, they would've been too big)<br /><br />The ribbed arm cuffs fit, but do not keep the jacket in place, it keeps sliding up.<br /><br />The waist ribbing is too loose, more than one size too loose. (Idk where I found the sizing guide I ended up on, but it said the size I picked and it was so very wrong).<br /><br />It is very warm though! I do give it that (Don't like the hood due to the outside material making it really stiff, but I couldn't wear the hood bc too hot then so it's warm!)
