The Irish Setter 8" Aluminum Toe Work Boot features:
I've had these boots for 2 years this week. I've worn these shoes everyday, averaging 5-6 miles per day, adding up to about 4,000 miles on pavement, gravel, and dirt. I've fallen through Ice in the winter, flipped canoes, and sludged through chemicals. Overall, they've served me well, although even the best shoe laces only last 8 months or so. Many only last a few months. Even custom aftermarket insoles need replacement every year or so if you buy quality, and the inner heel wore away fast. Still, the best quality boot I've ever had, and are very comfortable.
trying to find more 83800 style size 11... my guy absolutely loves this boot and if he had known you were discontinuing we would of bought 5 pair. LOL!! he loves this one , i hope the ramsey 2.0 is going to suit his needs!!! PLEASE BRING BACK THE RAMSEY WORK BOOT!! thank you!!!!
Boots are very comfortable. Easy to get on and off. Make my feet feel very protected.
Had these boots a year and still water proof except i wore the top toe on one boot, i lay tile and was on the floor alot. These boots were great, even not oiling them. Long lasting for sure buying more now.
So I’ve had these for about three weeks just broke in and the stitching on the uppers is falling apart. I’ve resprted to supper gluing a 200 dollar pair of boots, I wouldn’t doubt if these things totally separate in the next few months. Comfy and waterproof so far just not the quality I expect from redwing last pair I had for three years I hope this pair last more than six months
These boots say they are waterproof and they are not at all my feet were soaked including my socks washing a few trucks. I contacted the company and they said there was nothing they could do. These boots still look like they are new.
The good: leather held up very well and the sole has very good grip
The bad: the sole and heel split on one boot after only 7 months and and after 8 months the other boot split and ripped across the ball of the foot. I took them in for repair and the glue wouldn't hold and they said there was nothing they could do I was over the 6 month warranty. $200 boots that last 6-8 months. Last pair of Irish Setter work boots that I will own
I've owned other Red Wing products before and when they discontinued my previous style i tried these. They lasted me 2 years and have been very durable. I went to my local store to pick up a new pair today and they are on back order until the end of May! Very disappointed in the lack of stock in my size, get your act together people!
Start out by explaining what atmosphere these boots are worn. I am a heavy truck technician. Oil, grease, diesel, gas, cleaning chemicals, parts washing solvent is all a part of my everyday routine. I went down to my local red wing for proper size and fitment. Boots and extra insoles ( I have a very high arch) set me back just south of $300. I went to red wing because they were suppose to be the best in the business. I guess I just expected a little more out of an almost 300 dollar pair of boots. 2yrs and they are trashed. not to mention they have been on borrowed time for about 4 months. Leather has failed in multiple spots, soles have separated in the front, Stitching has failed on outer portion on boots, and have gone through approximately 10 pairs of laces. I will be shopping around for my next pair.
If smone is looking for smthin really tough and comfortable should go for it. It really so cool.
First I will start off by saying that I recently got out of the military and have worked construction for years before and now again after so I've had my share of boot experience. *Pun* I purchased these after trying on about 10 different pairs at the Red Wing dealer and these are probably the most comfortable "work" boots I've found. The heel sits a little bit higher to get a little more weight on my toes and it's really helped with my lower back. The boot construction is very high quality and I really like the fact that the sole are sewn around the outside so I can get a true sole replacement when I eventually wear these out. I've read a few bad reviews on these and I truly believe that people just don't try on multiple boots and pick the right boots for them and instead take advice from others or by for looks. I would definitely recommend these, as long as the person buying them actually trys them on and finds them comfortable. They only get better with time and break in, but they should feel good right away as well. Just my 2¢.
Working construction we build houses and I have to stand up for very long periods of time on hard, soft and unlevel ground. These have to be the most uncomfortable boots I've ever worn. The actual quality of the boots seem to be really nice, but the lack of comfort kills me with them. I will not recommend them for that reason at all.
Didn't noticed when the boot ripped off, been using the boots on a daily basis for around 6 months in a manufacturing plant, no rough treatment.
