I've now owned two of these. Both had major failure within the first 1.5 years. And I'm not beating the crap out of these either. I wear it to work in a shop and hang it on the hook. Glued or welded seams just completely released for no apparent reason. Pocket zippers broke. Aside from that the fabric is super awesome, the cut is nice. Bombproof winter shell, if it stays together. For the money I expected a higher quality product.
I recently moved to the twin cites and knew I needed a jacket that would fight against it's harsh winters. Plus, I run hot, so I needed something that I could wear alone, or layer in.

Very good rain jacket for work
As soon as I wore this jacket in the Carhartt store, it was a no brainer. Why? Because I needed something for the chilly spring in the northeast that is tough but not as bulky as Carhartt's C003 Heavy jacket that I've been wearing for 5 years in the winter. This jacket's shell is just as tough as the heavy models, but it's lighter weight so I will use it for both work and casual wear. Love it !
I have had this jacked for one year. I loved the coat. Bought a 2XLT. (i'm 6'5") Could be longer at the waist. Only issue that i have is the stitching around the front pocket zipper came apart. The Zipper is intact it the piece between the zipper and the duck material. Now i have probably zipped the front zippers a handful of times. I wear this for casual everyday wear (no hard labor) when the weather gets cold. I have had other Carhartt's in the past that have lasted me for years through the thick and thin that cost half as much. I am saddened/upset that this is where the jacket failed.
I've worn this in sub-zero prairie winter and torrential west coast downpours and it delivers! The fit and weight is perfect. Breathability works great in warm wet downpours.<br /><br />My only recommendation would be a deeper hood, to better fit over a helmet.<br /><br />I own more than five Carhartt jackets, this is the best yet. Thanks Carhartt!

i bought this jacket because i was tired of ripping other technical waterproof outerwear at work. it is 100% downpour proof so far however i have not washed it yet. the quick-duck stands up to the abrasive steel i work around every day.<br /><br />i wish you made a quick-duck storm defender coat with at least a fleece liner as when its cold and rainy i have to layer up and sometimes i rather just throw on one coat and get to work.
Purchased the coat two weeks ago and is worth the high priced amount. The coat holds well in freezing conditions and also is very durable in heavy duty environments. I travel around the U.S for installation projects, and this coat had not disappointed me in varies weather conditions. Also it has a great look.
I've worn this jacket in sub freezing, cold and wet and just plain wet environments in the construction industry and it has more than weathered multiple washes, storms and blizzards it has stood strong without wearing out or breaking down in the rough and tough environment that I work in.
