I run cold and was looking for a tough and warm jacket I could wear for work. I always wore the ski jackets, but I needed something that could handle rough work. I love all the pockets(especially the front zip one) and it really keeps you warm against the northeast cold winds. There's room to layer in the jacket. <br />The zipper does seem to be the weakest part of the jacket, being that it struggles to zip everytime.

I would defintaly recommend were this coat for 4 years at a mom and pop tire shop in Missouri kept me dry in the winter and completely warm when needed through the winter all work was done outside

I love the jacket! I have it 3 stars cause any other Carhartt Large jacket fits me fine and this one I can’t even zip. I also had to pay close to 30$ for shipping, tracking and 2.50 cause it was worth over 100$. The jacket is beautiful and I’m sure it is warm. With this covid-19 going on I don’t think I’m actually gonna be able to wear my jacket until fall of 2020.
Honestly this Jacket looks great and feels good but Im pretty upset that it says Sherpa Lined when its really only in the back chest and hood. The arms are not lined which is a total bummer because I like to wear t-shirts under this jacket and the material in the arms gets sticky and is not moisture wicking like the fleece. I get that you guys didn't want the jacket to be to bulky or warm but I would not have guessed it was half lined.

The jacket looks good and fits to size, but does nothing from stopping the wind from cutting right through it. I suppose it would be ok for a mildly cool day with no wind whatsoever.

Looks great and it's very warm and comfortable. It feels well made and the exterior feels like it'll probably be quite durable. The zippers were a little stiff at first quickly smoothed after some use. I would definitely recommend this. It feels like a well made jacket that will last.

It’s somewhat waterproof, windproof very durable. I drill holes in the ground and I am very demanding on my clothing. Carhartt is excellent workwear! I will continue to purchase Carhartt til the day I die...

Great jacket! Very warm. I am 6’1” around 170lbs. I usually wear a large in other brands but I went with a medium and it fits like a large. I do wish they made a medium/tall. Could be a little longer for my taste but I am very satisfied.

I purchased my husband this jacket and he loves it! He says it’s very warm and he likes that the sleeves are elastic and fit right around his wrists so there isn’t a draft up his sleeve. He also loves that it’s longer in the back.
love it. bought it for my partner. I have the women's cut which stretches on the bottom around my hips and fits me better. This men's cut has no stretch, which is something to keep in mind for bodies with hips but it's a handsome jacket.

Need to break in. Run slightly tight, but can really only tell when sitting or squatting. Nice color and extremely convenient. Bottom lays over boots or can be folded and tucked in. Great quality for the price you’re paying.

I am a teamster work in Hollywood TV and film. we work at all hours of day and night and in the California winter when it’s between the high 30s and low 50s this jacket was perfect to keep me warm. I’m 6’3 320 and I got the 3XLT it fits perfect. My only suggestion is to put the quilt material that’s on the inside of the jacket in the sleeve.

It is very warm, but for a XXL it is Extremely tight around the belly. ( I thought that was the whole point of ordering a XXL). It’s a little long, which I wanted, and expected, but way to slim in the middle. I’m barely able to zip it up...

Overall the jacket is pretty much like my old one, but the zipper is junk. It takes a few tries to get the zipper to zip- not as smooth as my old one.

I don’t like the inside left pocket being slanted, and worse having a zipper. A regular square inside pocket is simple and just fine. The right inside pocket can do without the Velcro closure. I’m not doing flips or going inverted that i have to worry about things falling out. The Velcro closure is truly just getting in my way

I just received this jacket and it’s fantastic . Seems to fit quite well and the quality is nice as always . It’ll be around for a long time ! It’s really sharp looking as well. The inside of the coat is awesome and should be a wonderful winter jacket . Lots of pockets for storage as well!

Great jacket, very warm I have had mine for about a year and have had no problems standing up to the cold or anything I put it against. I’m 6’3” and weigh 225 I wear the large tall and it fits like a glove won’t buy another jacket against this one.

I received my jacket a few weeks ago. I ordered it as a replacement for a Milwaukee Heated Gear jacket I purchased a little over a year ago. The heating elements shorted out in that one so I decided to go with something more dependable. It is very warm and comfortable. I like how the back of the jacket comes down lower than the front so it doesnt ride up while bending down. All in all, definately 5 stars!

This jacket is very warm and rugged. Installed a lot of Hardy board which means alot of the cement board dragging across the material. No furring or rips. Great jacket and worth every penny. Only negative is advertised made in America and my jacket says made in Mexico.

This jacket is nothing short of outstanding in every way. Very warm and comfortable and I live in an area of the United States where it snows more often than not. I have worn the Detroit jacket for years and much like that, I would recommend this product without hesitation.
I ordered through the Carhartt web site it cost an extra $20 if you get the size wrong. I returned the original for a size smaller. I had ordered an XL and not happy with the fit so I exchanged for a L where I found out that means M. So the take away is Carhartt web site is no deal at all and sizing is hit and miss in this brand.

Love my J141. I own 3 Carhartt jackets and this is my favorite one. It fits the best at 2XLT for me being 6’4” and 250lbs. Has great range of motion and still has room enough for a hoodie underneath without being too tight on me. It’s warm enough for 25•F days , the Sherpa lining really does work overtime for you. The hood on the jacket is also lined with Sherpa which is a plus, the only thing I wish it had was Sherpa lined pockets, this feature would make this the perfect all around coat.
This coat is ok.....not the same quality as older Carhartt jackets. Does not seem to have the weight or warmth of the older jackets. Also seems to run a little small.

Made in Mexico. I dont think so. I like the USA product. My current carhartt jacket was made in U S A. I sent back mexico jacket today and expect a full refund. Very disappointed! I live 7 miles from mexico if I wanted a jacket made there I'd drive.
I received this coat today and I'm really impressed with the quality and look of it. It's much warmer than my other jacket and more stylish. The lining is super comfortable. I'd prefer that the front pockets were angled a bit more but that's a minor issue. Already fielding a ton of compliments.
Great jacket so far its as warm as i thought it would be but I wish It had elastic near the waist so wind cant blow up your back. That was my fault as I overlooked that when I ordered. Other than that I will keep it and get good use out of it.

I bought this for my boyfriend, all of his carhartt shirts are a size XL so of course I bought an XL coat. It didn’t fit at all. He couldn’t even zip it up. So he didn’t get a present from me on Christmas Day.
fully recommend, considering a second unit in Moss. Like how it fits everywhere, except the hood is not tall enough from the neck up. Hood is okay if I'm sitting still, but if I'm moving about it tends to pull my hat off...curious. I would not want the size L because the size M fits well everywhere else sleeves, waist, chest. I'd be interested in this exact cut jacket with a collar.
I'm a big guy. 6'3" at 248lbs. Clothes that are true to fit are difficult for me to find. This jacket is the best fitting jacket I've ever owned. I'm retired living on an acre in the forest of northern California. I'm constantly in the yard limbing pines and oaks with a chainsaw, burning, raking, etc. This coat is my go to work jacket in the winter months. I also have a firm duck quilt lined active jacket that I like so much that I won't do yard work wearing it. Its too nice!!!! This Jacket is the perfect work coat. Finally a brand that understands fit and performance for bigger guys like me.

Made very well and very warm but size runs smaller so order a size up. I wish I woukd of but it was too late cause it was a Christmas gift and came in 2 days before.
The sleeves are not lined with the Sherpa and the hood was not removable. Ended up returning it.
The jacket is actually a little short in length in the torso. He is a slender man and we did get the large.

My husband likes the jacket very much for its warmth and comfort, however the zipper is difficult to zip up.
I bought an exact replacement for the same jacket that i already had. The issue was that over the years an XL became too small. The new one is of the same quality which is why i bought another Carhartt this time in a XXL. Really happy with the jacket. A true testament to Carhartt quality is that my XL shows no wear after having it for around 10 years.

My father used to love wearing leather jackets, but because he does continuous back-breaking labor, he has few opportunities to wear one without it getting ruined. So I purchased the Sandstone Sierra 2XL Tall in Black, and it has stood up to the work while looking like a nicely patined leather jacket. The pockets are hefty and large, and the sherpa lining is great for working outside down to 20F with only a t-shirt as a second layer. In all, he loves having a jacket that he can admire AND wear daily, and this fits the bill perfectly.

I bought this coat a little big thinking it might shrink, but it didn't. Now i have room for a hoodie underneath if i need to add another layer in the Kansas winters. THis is my best cold weather coat. Easy to care for, durable, and very warm. Keeps the wind and moisture out. I work with horses, and other outdoor chores and it is the best quality outerwear i have ever had. Had it 2 years now, and know it will last awhile! Only 2 manufacturing things to mention since i have worn this coat a lot, and that is that the hood string is too short and hard to tie. Also, the hand wramer pocket linings are too thin and are starting to rip through at the seems - not from cuts, but from the fabric tearing at the seems.

I’m so confused on how I haven’t seen any reviews on how terrible the elastic around the wrist is manufactured on this jacket. Don’t get me wrong I wear Carhart everyday for work but this jacket is unusable for work with how terrible the elastic is. Any other people have this problem? Let me know

Customers should know that if they receive a jacket like this and the zipper is tight, it will probably not get any better. Actual mine got worst and I waited a month to let Carhartt know and all they would do is send it in for a repair, which takes up to 25 days.
THE FRONT ZIPPER LACKS THE QUALITY THAT I EXPECTED FROM CARHARTT, NOT HEAVY GAUGE LIKE COMPARABLE UNITED AIRLINES WORK COAT. IT IS ALSO MISSING DUAL ZIP FEATURE AS WORK COAT. OUTER POCKETS DO NOT HAVE ZIPPERS AS WORK JACKET DOES. THE INNER LEFT SLASH ZIPPER POCKET NEEDS TO BE 1/2 TO 1 INCH DEEPER. I WOULD ALSO PREFER THAT THE RIGHT SIDE INNER POCKET BE SLASH STYLE WITH ZIPPER. OUTER ZIPPER IS HAVING ISSUES OUT OF THE BOX!!!!!!!!! NOT ZIPPING CORRECTLY AND CATCHING LIKE IT IS MISS ALIGNED!!!!!

I expected more from the Carhartt brand. I’ve only owned the jacket for three months and the zipper already broke off. Very disappointed. On top of that Carhartt doesn’t offer exchanges. They clearly don’t stand behind their products. Avoid this brand.

My husband has an old Carhartt jacket similar to this, without sherpa lining or hood, that he has used for 20 years. It finally got a hole in the shoulde4, giving me a chance to replace it for his birthday. This one is more slimming, longer, and watmer. The Sherpa lined Sierra Jacket is abnormally warm even in below freezing with gale winds. It looks tight but doesn't restrict movement the pocket angles prevent items from slipping out. The hood is fantastic and the sleeves are amazing at keeping the warmth in!

On my second run of this coat. Had the first one for almost 10 years and have put it through the ringer! There’s nothing that stopped it!! From laying on the ground working on farm equipment to chainsawing to just taking the kids sledding this thing will stand the test of time. I still use it as my farm coat and got a new one for day to day wear. The only thing I don’t like about the new version is that the inside pockets were switched. I’m a righty and really liked the non-zip inside pocket on my left side where my right hand naturally would want to put stuff. But that’s not really a complaint. Didn’t stop me from getting it and won’t stop me from using it every day of the cold months. Totally worth every penny!

Bought this as a gift for my 6'3'' 195# son. It met his needs and he really liked with one exception. Cold air can get into the bottom of the shirt since there isn't any ribbing or synching hugging garment to the body. Other than that he found it to be a quality shirt that keeps him warm and dry and wears it almost daily. Would definitely recommend for anyone spending a lot of time outdoors.

I got this jacket a year ago and it has held up amazingly. I live in the cold windy wet pacific northwest. I abuse my work clothes like no one else ive known. Ive had knockoffs of these last less than a month. When I first got this jacket I thought it Would be perfect, but i found out real quick it doesnt block icy cold 30 mph wind. I did some research and came to the conclusion that i would wax it with parrafin (candle) wax. So after a heavy coating of wax, this is by far the best jacket i will EVER own in my life. Completely watetproof. Completely wind proof. Keeps me so warm in the winter that i can't wear it if its over 60 degrees or its too hot. After i waxed it it was stiff as a board and uncomfortable for about a week but now its stiff but flexible. Durable and tough are the only words i can use to describe this. Plus the waxing gives it a nice tough, weathered look. If you use it for hard work kerp it as is. If you work your clothes to the extreme and abuse them daily, wax it. Best jacket ever

Didn’t expect it to be so warm pleasantly surprised
Gave it five stars. Live in Montana, needed a winter ranch coat. Got it this year, have only worn it a couple times, but with a vest under it, and layered, wore it in 15 degree weather, and it certainly keeps me warm. Think it will be good for all but maybe those days when it is below zero, then may have to switch to a heavy parka.
My husband loves this jacket. Super warm, comfortable and it looks great on him. I bought him one last year for work, ended up getting grease and oil all over it due to the kind of work he does.. he was sad he couldn’t wear it in public anymore outside of work. So I bought him the exact same jacket in another color so he would have one to wear for work and one to wear outside of work. The fit is true to size!

I like the way it fits.... for an improvement, a nylon pipeing or wrap on the cuff and near the side pockets would protect from fraying.<br />It is my everyday go-to jacket.

It’s difficult to rate.... it appeared to be well made but the problem was I wear a women’s size Medium, ordered a men’s Small and it was not even close to fitting possibly even 8 inches too small at the hips. It seems illogical to need the same size in men’s clothing so I returned it and will stick to women’s.
I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. We live in central Illinois and he also works in a freezer. He tells me everyday how amazingly warm it is. He loves it!

My son wanted this jacket for his birthday after seeing it online. He is 5'9" and a thin 130 lbs, so we figured a small would be the best fit for him. He thought about exchanging it for a medium since the small does not allow much room for heavy clothing underneath. However, we figured a medium would be too large. He said this jacket blocks the wind better than his down jacket and is very warm and comfortable. The ribbed sleeve cuffs are a plus to keep cold air out. He loves and definitely recommends this jacket!

Heavy cotton canvas, with wooly sherpa fleece is solid combination.
I live in Chicago and work construction outside so I needed something warm. This jacket breaks the wind nicely and keeps me relatively warm to some extent... Chicago weather is nuts sometimes, so occasionally I’ll throw on another coat on top.

I love this jacket. It’s my everyday work jacket from late fall to almost spring it gets me through the coldest weather of the year and I leave my house at 4am to go to work. This is my second of the same jacket. My other one which pups be about 6 years old and was really starting to look good and worn went missing about 2 weeks ago now and I think I lost it or some one took it by accident or stole it idk. Best work jacket I ever had. Has good amount. Of pockets and front pockets are solid hand warming pockets.

He really likes it but it fits everywhere but at the very bottom. No stretch down there won't let the zipper start. The other Carhart he has is the same size and fits perfectly. He plans on losing wight so I told him to keep it until it does fit. Goal #1 in weight loss!

The longer material tail keeps the wind from going up your back. The hood is sized large enough to allow you to turn your head and it extends out further past the front of your head to allow snow or rain to drip off away from you. I have owned numerous colors of this coat over the years and it is the most usable coat out there.<br />Buy this coat one size larger for layering or purchase true to size. Love it!

The Carhartt brand makes another product with the quality and tight fit? That you expect. Being a bigger guy I don’t expect anything to fit right but this jacket really missed the mark. It is too snug in the abdomen area even for people that tried it on that are smaller than me said it is uncomfortably tight. Nothing wrong with the jacket except a bunch of trash from the factory in the pockets when it arrived in the mail I assume it’s quality would of lasted as it seemed well built and hardy. The jacket also fits weird when sitting where I had the extra material that should have been placed in the abdomen area puffed up in my shoulders and chest which made sitting awkward.

I bought the jacket to replace my old Air Force flight jacket. I wanted something that would keep me warm on windy, cold days. Got a chance to test it out last week, and it sure does the job. Plenty of pockets and a sharp look are extra benefits. Fits a little snug, though, if I am wearing extra layers of clothing.
too small.. it says roomy in the description. I ordered a medium. I am 5’7 inches tall and a 31 waist 155lbs. barley can zip it and its tight around the waist.

Very warm and durable
I’ve only had this jacket a week or so but temperatures have been in the 20s at night. This jacket is plenty warm and seems durable. I did have to return my initial purchase and go one size up. I would suggest going a size up if you’re between sizes. The size small was very tight around my hips when zipped but the medium fits perfectly

Good quality construction, mine was made in Mexico. The fleece was made with cheap polyester it's not very soft that's why It gets four stars instead of five. I recommend in the future finding a softer polyester he make the fleece with

carhartt quality standard ??<br />a issue i will address (good not negative) is the coat is snug almost makes you feel you ordered a size to small this is not the case it is tight for a reason to restrict wind draft from sleeve openings and around the waist (body of coat where the zipper starts) to keep your body heat in <br /><br />moreover if you are a individual who layers one size up would be ideal i am six feet tall 170lbs smaller build and a average size belly i ordered a small and the fit is spot on <br /><br />the upper body (starting at shoulders) is more loose not baggy by any means to allow for range of movement and subsequently tappers down to the wrist forearms are not tight or restricting <br /><br />and naturally the coat will stretch over time and washings <br /><br />i ordered the dark brown color looks very vogue with the contrasting sherpa lining <br />cheers!<br />make today a great day!
Had this jacket for 8 years now. very warm and comfortable and blocks the wind quite well. I wear it at work everyday throughout the Idaho winters. And fishing, and horseback riding inbetween.

I would recommend this jacket. My son used it doing construction, cutting firewood, and all around ranching and farming chores and had no issues. He loved having the storm cuffs and the gusseted sleeves for extra mobility when swinging an axe or stuff like that. the multi-pocket design is very helpful too.
i think the outer chest pocket should be made big enough to hold a cell phone.

Looks great, feels like it is made with quality heavy duty material. I bought it late in the season so all of the really cold weather had come and gone. It was plenty warm on an upper thirty degree day, so I’ll have to wait until next winter to test it out in really cold temps. Very comfortable and the size was true.
IT is to tight on bottom of jacket
I'm impressed with the design, the look, and the quality of the jacket. I would have given 5 stars, but like some others in reviews I've read I'm concerned about constancy of fit. I initially ordered a XXL (2X), and it was gigantic so I returned it and re-ordered a 1X (XL). Although this is only ONE size smaller the coat is actually tight. I plan to keep it because I happen to be in the process of losing weight. My point is that I was surprised that just ONE size made the difference between a coat billowing off me and one a tad tight. The coat is imported and perhaps the company needs to get a handle on the sizing aspect of production runs.

I love my new Sandstone Sherpa lined Sierra Carhartt jacket ! It replaces my old Dark brown Sherpa lined Sierra Carhartt jacket that I've had for maybe 10 years. These jackets are awesome and are great for working outside, and in the building trades. My old jacket got too experienced looking to wear into customer's sites, so it was time to downgrade it to, "down and dirty work only". I'm trying to get used to these new pockets on the new jacket, I liked the previous style of pockets better.

First off.... I love the fit and recessed cuffs... very convenient.... the outer material is tough as nails and keeps looking great day in and day out..... But.... I gotta say.... themsherpa liner after gentle washes in a wash bag and even dry cleaning... just keeps falling out in clumps...... this is the second jacket of its type that I have purchased... I own 5 carhartt jackets. And I love them.... but I really think they should consider using a new Sherpa material or real wool... out of all the thousands of dollars I’ve spent with carhartt.. this is my only big disappointment....Change the material in the liner... make it touch more durable and thicker... then this would be a home run.

Feels like armor in the windy snow; only need to wear single thermal under most days near Denver. Only possible gripe is it's a bit difficult wearing big bulky headphones over with the hoodie on but the snugness is perfect in literally every other occasion.

I’ve tried Large Tall Carhartt jackets on before and they’ve fitt perfectly. This one seems like someone took an XL and slapped a L Tall tag on it. It’s barely long enough and is way to wide. If I ever buy Carhartt again, it will not be from the website.

I liked everything about the coat, except the way it fit in the body. I’m 6’3” 200lbs slim build and ordered a large tall. Even with the tall size, it barely covered my waist. Other Carhartt coat styles run large, but not this. 4/5 because of the sizing.

Overall it is a great jacket that gets the job done. It runs a little snug in the waist but still very warm and comfortable. The quality is pretty good but it could be improved. I am very happy with the jacket and I would highly recommend.

Fits me well. 215-6’1 =XL.Looks good, and is nice and warm. I rated the durability high based on previous experience with many Carhartt products.
Runs extremely small. My true size on Carhartt.com was supposed to be 2XL. I got a 2XL and it was too small,physically fit but wouldn’t be able to wear anything but a t-shirt under it, and I had to pay $30 to return. I then ordered the 3XL tall and it’s not much better, a little roomier but still not sure I would be comfortable with a sweatshirt under it, but I’m not paying another $30 to return. It is super comfortable though, I think I could sleep in it. It was also very good at temp control, barely feel anything from the outside environment but yet when I was wearing it inside I don’t overheat. The only other thing is that it was advertised as sandstone Sherpa lining and the lining is gray. I’m actually happy about that but not as advertised. Coat is not stiff at all and workmanship seems great. Zippers are all metal and inside Velcro pocket is really strong. Overall I’m pleased, would have probably been happier with a 4XL tall though.

This was my first time buying this particular jacket. I must say, I am impressed. The jacket is very strong, very durable. As for warmth, it wears well in the 25-30 degree range. I've worn it lower than that, but it isn't very warm below 10. It is comfortable enough, about what you'd expect for a sandstone jacket. I usually wear 3XL , but this jacket seemed just a tad too big (though this seems contrary to popular opinion). Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase! Try it yourself, see what you think. Carhartt rarely disappoints.

Great jacket, I am 5'6" weigh about 170 I fit the medium. The sherpa inside is very nice and like how it's on the hood and covers your body except the arms. It's very relaxed versus the stiffer jackets they have. Has a broken-in look to it which is nice.

I was not impressed with this jacket. I had originally bought a Large from a different online retailer which fit ok but was very short. I am 6' 185lbs and do not like jackets that lift up above my waist everytime bend over or raise my arms. I decided to try a LARGE/TALL hoping that it would be a little longer, it wasn't, disappointing. Great quality coat, bought it for my son for Xmas and he loves it. It’s pricy at $ Cdn with the exchange rate and shipping to Cda, but going straight to Mark’s Work Wearhouse isn’t much cheaper. He’s 6’5”, 240lbs so I bought him a 2xl tall and it fits perfectly with a bit of room for a bulky sweatshirt/hoodie underneath. Shipping eta was pretty accurate, received it one day after the estimated date, and 9 days after order date.

My son loves it! I have the same coat in grey. We're both agree however that the inside pockets should be switched. As in the zipper pocket should be on right side and velcro on left side. We are both right handed and when we have to get in the easy access pocket its awkward.

It’s a well built jacket and it’s feels heavy and I’m sure it would hold up against in cold weather. I had to return it because it felt just right and didn’t give me room to stretch in it. I wear large normally but I’m not a fit guy.

This jacket will keep you warm all day. I wear this digging with an open cab excavator and never got cold yet with proper layering underneath. I did have to get an XXL because of the waist band fitting around my bibs.

The coat itself was amazing. The sizing was way off. I ordered the men's 2x and it wouldnt even fit my shoulders. My husband's 2x in the regular carhartt fits me great.
This is the perfect work coat. I was looking for a coat that could stand up to the task of working on a roof every day. I ordered the black so if I got sealant or primer on it it wouldn’t look so bad, I have washed it twice already and looks good as new and I believe the Sherpa lining got softer with the first few washes. This is definitely a warm jacket! I put a zippo hand warmer on the inside pocket for cold days. The hood blocks the wind on the roof from freezing my ears. One of the few jackets that looks better with a little wear and tear. Get the XL Tall to cover a little BELOW your waist if you are looking to stop cold wind in its tracks! Carhartt makes clothes the way I would make if I had A good quality clothing company. Thumbs up on the Sandstone Seirra Sherpa linned jacket.

Love this jacket. My only criticism is that it isn't extremely versatile when it comes to upper body movement, and I overheat pretty quickly while wearing it.
Great for farming
Carhartt was once a name that meant quality and attention to small details. With many things these days, that has fallen by the wayside. I don't know if it is because this jacket is imported from Mexico, or if all of their jackets are undergoing this reduced quality issue.<br /> The front pockets are way too small for gloves to safely be stored, the top and inner pockets are almost useless. They might hold a credit card, but forget a check book. The draw strings on the hood are too short, you can't even tie a know to hold the hood on.<br />These things may not be apparent with a quick look over, but once you wear the jacket and try to work in it, you will understand. - If you are a concrete cowboy, it might be fine, but a farmer or construction worker will be cussing at this pos as much as I am. It was a company jacket bought online, so I didn't see it before I bought it. I NEVER would have bought this thing if I had seen it in person. <br /> I have a half dozen or so "older" Carhartt coats and this is by far the cheapest made and my least favorite. It is not as comfortable to wear, it just doesn't fit the same. The hand hole area are poorly designed and just don't feel right to work in. They push at the bottom of your gloves and more irritating as the day goes by.<br />--Come on Carhartt, you were once better than this, some people expect more. Please fix this, don't lose me and others like me as a customer. I will be paying attention and I know that I can't be alone. People may make positive comments on here, but I think that after you wear and working in this thing, you will understand what I am saying. Carhartt's worst jacket in years and I own countless Carhartt products.

This jacket is s Chritmas gift for our grown son who is currently welfing in Northern Central California, so very cold early mornings . It was boxed, wrapped and under his tree with other gifts and it is so cold there right niw it iccurred to me that he needed to be wearing it NOW!!<br />I called his girlfriend and she worked with me to have him open it. He was SO happy with it!! He wore it to work the very next morning. He appreciated that we ordered the LONG as it gives him better coverage on his back and hips.

I've had several Carhartt jackets and they are great jackets. All of the jackets I've had wear right around the end of the sleeves, the rest of the jacket is perfect except that area.
It is durable and does not skimp on anything. Besides keeping me and my head nice and warm, it has a very comforting feel, like I'm snugly enveloped, and a substantial weight that feels sturdy and safe.

After checking out a co-workers coat I wanted one. Ran true to size, fits like a glove. Heavy but not bulky, stops the strongest of winds and is warm. Really like the Sherpa lining. Not a dress coat but is good for everything else. Gave mine a double coating of Kiwi heavy duty silicon spray - water beads off of it. Would definitely recommend!

I'm a girl - got the mens version of this because I figured it would give me more room than most womens jackets and I like the oversized look.That being said I haven't tried on the womens version so I can't make a direction comparison - but this jacket is everything I wanted. I'm 5' 7" and 115 lbs and got the small - it hits just bellow my waist but not super long. Its a little tight at the bottom but lots of room around the arms and shoulders. Sleeve length is perfect. Very comfy and very warm - happy with this purchase.

I found this to be a nice looking farm jacket that I will be using for outdoor chores here in Vermont, but it is sporty enough to wear into town for shopping and such. I love the comfy sherpa lining and the tough duck canvas. I chose the Moss green which is as represented in the web pics. The only probs I had were with sizing. I am 5’6” with a muscular frame. My chest is 39”-40” which according to the sizing chart puts me firmly in the Medium size (38-40”) , which I ordered. Upon arrival i tried it on (over a thermal shirt and pile vest) and found that the arms were way to long and there was an overabundance of chest room. I then ordered a Small which according to the sizing chart is a 34-36” chest which I thought would never fit. Well it did. The arm length is good, and the chest is perfect. The only slight issue is that the waist is a tad snug but I can deal (my jeans are 30” waist). The zipper was a bit rough but I put some candle wax on it and it now runs very smoothly.

Not the quality that I have become used to from Carhartt<br />The zipper is of very low quality in my opinion, definitely<br />not as good as I was expecting. The pockets are way to<br />small, and I don't have very large hands. I bought the 2XL and I expected it to be larger as I have purchased<br />XL in the past and they were bigger than this. Prices<br />have gone up quality has gone down over the last few <br />years. I was expecting better than this.

The jacket is a good jacket it’s very comfortable and keeps you warm. Only thing I don’t like about it is I’m not sure if it’s the Sherpa lined or a certain materiel the jackets made out of but it attracts and traps smells in the Sherpa. This is my 2nd jacket and the first one did the same thing. For Example If i walk in a field of flowers the jacket will instantly smell like it or if I walk in a room full of smoke it will instantly smell like it and stick to it until you wash it. Only reason why I gave it a 4 star is because carhartts customer service is beyond excellent!

I love this coat. Just bought my second one after years of service from the first. Warm, great quality, and . . . this model runs trimmer through the body than most of their other styles. Nice change from having to live with a lot of extra bulk through the mid-section just to get the back and shoulders to fit. I'm 5'-11", 175#, with 35" sleeves, and the L-Tall is just right.

Wish it was waiter proof and had the wool lining in the arms. Other than that it keeps me warm during the fall hunting season and looks nice enough to wear out. I’m 6’8 and 215. I got the XL Tall and it fits like it was make for me. If you’re taller and athletic build that always wanted a Carhartt they finally made one for us.
While the jacket is very nice, very warm. I was disappointed when the coat I received didn't look like the coat I ordered online. The photo of the coat online showed it would have the white Sherpa lining, but it came with a brown sherpa lining.
I bought this coat for work and it's just as good as I've always expected from Carhartt the last one lasted me 5 plus years I expect no different from this 1.

I love my Moss Green version of this jacket. It fits perfect and the knitted cuffs help to keep out snow. This jacket is very warm and keeps out the elements. The 4 pockets are placed perfectly. This is the most durable jacket I have ever owned.

I still wear this after 10 years and have bought multiple Carhartt jackets since and none are as perfect as this one. Only wish it came in another style with collar and no hood so I could wear it out someplace that wasn't for work.
Overall, this is a super jacket, and as a carpenter I put this jacket to work outdoors building a house in Bend, Oregon last winter. It held up well and I snagged it several times on nails while framing and thought it ripped, but it did not. It is a warm jacket and also has enough room to put a hoodie or layers on underneath and move freely to swing a hammer and get around easily on a roof. The zipper is solid and outer pockets are deep enough to put your hands in without gloves. The inside and outer zippered pockets are useful. My favorite part of this jacket is the liner and hood which are super comfortable. I thought the jacket was expensive when I bought it, but it is a solid value and worth it as it lived up to all of the product descriptions. The large fit perfectly and I liked that it was not too long at the waste to wear my bags and get to tools easily. I bought the moss color. I am 5'10" and a 40 chest. Buy this jacket, you will definitely like it!

Unfortunately I can't find a shop that stocks these in Australia. Unfortunately you don't offer international shipping either. I had a shipping forwarding company send it to me and I am over the moon with the jacket. It is by far the most durable, comfortable and practical and looks to last a life time. I would recommend this to anyone! Its a real shame you don't stock these in Australia, the whole range of outer wear would sell like hot cakes down here!

It’s a great work jacket
This is an awesome jacket. It looks cool. It's very warm. It fits very well besides it being sometimes a little snug around the waist. There's lots of pocket room. This jacket is close to perfect and is my favorite jacket I own. It's a classic Carhartt product.
Outstanding. Extremely warm and no need to layer unless one is stagnant in sub 32 degrees F temps. I am 6’5” 255-260, athletic. When I called customer service for sizing, it was recommended I should have bought an XXLT, due to chest measurements. After a couple hours of reading reviews I decided on an XLT. That fit PERFECTLY and I can still fit an insulated shirt-jac underneath. Outstanding jacket. It is worthy to note that I also was told to get an XLT in any sweatshirt Carhart sells by customer service, and a LT is the perfect fit. Carhart runs large compared to almost every other brand out there, and they hold true to American sizing. All in all, great products.
I would say this jacket is close to perfect. The only complaint i have is the torso is a little short for me. I'm about 5'10, 175 and i ordered a Large as recommended by the site. Another 1/2 inch in added length would go a long way. Other than that i love this jacket. Highly recommend it.

Durable, soft and warm! I got the XL tall because I’m 602/230. Fits just right. Roomy enough to layer underneath, but not bulky. Seems well made. Time will tell. Super comfortable.

When I actually received the jacket, it looked nothing like the photo online.
Way too short! I ordered a 2XLT and the thing barely covers my waist, I'm only 6'1. Also made in Mexico why? Inferior craftsmanship. The zipper struggles to go up most of the time as well. Could got more for my money elsewhere.
I have this coat in the grey and I love it so much that when my fire department was looking for a durable cold weather coat I recommended this. Now I have 2 of them one for home and one for work. Keeps me warm for three seasons. In the winter if you pair it with a sweatshirt or a flannel it keeps you plenty warm to keep working.

I do a fair share of field work and so I was pretty excited when I ordered the jacket, and really thought seriously about which colors I wanted. The jacket that arrived was darker in color on the outside and inside. The light brown color is not as light as displayed, and the sherpa lining was dark brown instead of cream colored. Carhartt customer service said that there is no guarantee that you will receive the lining color that you order. It is subject to season. It is much smaller than the size finder leads you to believe, so if you can tolerate longer sleeves, definitely order up a size.
The sandstone Sherpa lined Sierra jacket was bought to wear in Russia on a job that I was doing. The temperature while there was between -4 to 24 degrees Fahrenheit. Not one time did I regret buying this jacket, it kept me warm the whole time and not once did I get cold. Great Jacket.

This is my go to jacket for the winter time. This jacket alone is usually enough to get me through most of the winter (North and South Carolina winters). If it does get too cold, or I plan on being outside for long periods of time, throwing a hoodie on underneath is enough to keep me warm. The 5 pockets (3 outside, 2 inside) are useful, and even though the outside bottom pockets are not Sherpa-lined, they still do well keeping my hands warm. The only improvement I could think of would be adding the lining in those pockets.
The jacket itself was really nice, but even though I use their size finder (which said a small would be a perfect fit) I had to return the jacket. I could not zip up the jacket unless I pulled it well above my waist, and it was tight across my torso. Again, wonderful jacket, just cannot trust the size finder

This is so far my favorite carhartt jacket. It is very durable and warm, and also presentable. The only thing I dont like are the sleeves. They scrunch up at the end if you are wearing a long sleeve shirt or flannel underneath.

It looked great and was super comfortable right out of the box when it arrived. The fit through the chest and belly were true to size and the sleeves were long enough. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is due to the fact that the jacket is a little short for it to be sized as a tall. I am 6’5” so take that into account. I look forward to wearing this coat for many years to come as it continually gets softer while maintaining the durability Carhartt has always been known for.

Great jacket for work or casual wear. It is warm, functional, but also still decent looking enough to wear outside of work if it's not too dirty. It runs a little short. So if you don't want it to sit right at the waist, maybe order a tall size. I am 6 ft 1 in, 210 lbs and got a large tall, which fits just right.

I am 6'3, 170 pounds (so, tall and thin/average build). I have a Carhartt sweatshirt that fits me perfectly that's a large, and the "true to fit" size for me with this jacket was a large. I kind of doubted this, because I know how precisely the sweatshirt fit me, and I knew the jacket was probably going to be too exact to my size to layer underneath, but I went with the large anyway. When I got the jacket, it seemed a little short when I tried it on. Yes, it fit me perfectly in the chest, waist, and arms, but if I bent over I felt like the jacket would lift up and expose my back. If you're around my height and weight and trying to figure out what size to buy, get an XL or tall size. The large fits the chest and waist perfectly, but the waist doesn't sit low enough (at least for me). If I layered underneath it with sweatshirts, it might get tight in the chest (bad if you need good mobility), and it would especially be too short, that's why I'm definitely exchanging for an XL. Other than that though, it's a really nice jacket, and I am excited to get my XL in a couple days!
Coat is well made, and looks good. Seems quite light in weight and not bulky, considering its a tough winter jacket, making it comfortable to wear.<br />After searching, unsuccessfully for this jacket here in Greece, I had it sent by a family member in America. Im quite happy with this jacket overall, its very tough, comfy and fits nice. My only problem is the zippers are complete total garbage. I had to pay a tailor to take the zipper off of my old carhart and replace it on to this new one. I'm very disappointed with just how horrible these zippers are, they feel cheap and dont work well. Come one guys, for how much this jacket costs, I would think you can afford to use the old zippers. While this jacket might overall be great, I see this as a sign that Carhart is losing its repsect for its customers and is becoming beholdent to shareholders. I will be cautious about buying carhart in the future
The jacket did run true to size
I've only worn this about a dozen times so far, but I'm pretty happy with the product. It's warm enough to wear casually in temperatures around freezing, all the way down to typical wear at -10 F.<br /><br />Quality seems great: I did glue some inner threads in place that looked like they weren't quite finished properly, but all else is great.<br /><br />Fit is as described in the size guide. I am slim and wear either medium or small from the usual shops, and the small jacket fits me great. I'm especially glad that they extend the back side of this a couple inches, so it doesn't seem/feel short when bending over or moving.
Nice rugged wear for work
I've owned this jacket for about 5 years. I'm happy with it's durability, but it is not for temperature below 45 degrees. My issue with that is, if I'm wearing something as bulky as this jacket is, it needs to keep me warm at 20 degrees and below. Unfortunately this does not even come close.
I’ve worn out more Carhartt coats than I can count... been wearing them on the job for decades. So trust me, this J141 coat is made with one cheapo zipper. It’s nothing compared to the tough J130, or the super quality of their Jackson coats, now discontinued (??). Those zippers were nice and beefy.<br />I’ll be very surprised if this J141 zipper lasts 90 days.<br />Why be downgrading the high quality that you’re known for Carhartt!

Carhartt quality and cozy lining. Bought these for the guys at work who are often working outside. Durable and warm. I will say we did have to send back half of our first order to size up to the Tall sizes as the guys found them a bit short in body and arm length. With the exception of one actually tall guy, most of our staff is pretty average height and weight.

The sleeves are not sherpa lined, but that is a plus because it does not limit the movement of your arms. and still keeps you warm. My only complaint is that I feel like its a little too short for its 6'1" recipient. It will be going back, but I will be ordering the tall version. I have the women's version of this jacket and it is my all time favorite.

Having been wearing Carhartt products for many years now I found them to be a brand I trust and no exception with this jacket. I did find that it does tend to run oversize a small bit and a little bulky, but otherwise a great comfortable and warm jacket....

I bought this to wear to work and to play outside. I have quite a few different styles of coat and this has become my daily go to coat for temps 30 and above with minimal layering. It does a good job blocking wind and is moderately warm. It is a slim style which is why i went with it. Most carhartt tops are rather big/bulky. This is more of a tailored fit. Trim around waist and chest with still arms long enough. My only gripe is the sleeve lining. Why not put the sherpa throughout the sleeves as well, especially when you take the trouble to line the hood with it. It kinda defeats the purpose of a "coat" to only line the body. The sleeves are lined with polyester and zero insulation. That is the weak point of this jacket. beyond that i love it. Would buy again if, and only if, carhartt does something about sleeve lining/insulation.

This jacket is awesome! Not only does it look great, with the duck tail in the back and the sturdy build, but it also feels extremely comfortable and warm. Plenty of pocket space, I like the fact that the sleeves stay straight yet there is a snug liner inside to keep your wrists sealed. If I could have it my way I would have loved to get this jacket with a fleece lining instead of the sherpa. Love that it comes in a Tall option. I'm relatively slender and but tall, I normally have to get XL for it to be long enough but I only have to get a Large Tall through Carhartt. Overall it is an amazing jacket and I have a feeling I wont need another one for a LONG time. Definitely worth the money.
Love it. Fit perfectly and is really warm. Good flexibility in it too for working.
I bought this as me every day, wear-to-work jacket. I like how heavy it is and how warm it keeps me. The fuzzy lining on the hood is nice too. I bought mine in the tall version so it would cover my waistline better when bending over. I am happy with that decision to get the tall model. I expect this jacket to last a long time.

Comfy coat room for about one hoodie underneath and still can move around great . I move furniture so it’s important for me to have a heavy duty coat that isn’t contsrtricting . I like the colors available. The only thing I don’t like is the zipper. Seems to small vs the traditional heavy duty zipper carhartt has.

Fits nicely. The inside pockets could be bigger, if your wearing it the inside left pocket can't really hold much which kinda makes it pointless
Iâ??ve been wanting to get me a Carhart jacket for over fifteen years. I finally knuckled down and bought this one. I love it. Just by looking at it and handling it, you can tell that it is durable and made to be put to work. I find it to be really comfortable. Excellent job Carhart.
Fits great and keeps me warm
I have owned 2 and both wore out at sleeves. They need to be reinforced with something like kevlar. I will buy another and use it for keeping warm, but no chainsaw work in the woods or carpenter work.

Sized different than the j131. Im 5'8 140lbs and needed a medium. Its warm in the torso but no insulation in the sleeves so they get cold. It will keep me warm, layered over a tshirt, for about 30 min standing still in 40 degree F. If you are active, it will do better. Add a sweater underneath and its pretty warm. Easy to layer due to the slick lining in sleeves. The pockets are nice. They hold onto stuff better than the curved outside pockets on other carhartt jackets. Overall nice. I dont think the quality is quite as good as the american made j131 i have. Close though.

If you're not sure between products and this is on your list, pick it. Easily the coolest looking and most comfortable jacket I've worn in a while. I'm in college and walking to class is warm and comfortable in this jacket. Only complaint is the zipper stickiness, but that'll wear down in time.
love this jacket, warm and durable. I have recommended this jacket to friends and coworkers. We all would like to see a blaze orange color option. The higher visibility on the job site would be a plus.
as long as you get your sizing correct, you really can't go wrong with this company. this jacket in the medium fits me perfectly. i am 5'8" at 145pnds, athletic build. the durabilty of the garment is obvious. it should last for decades. i am acclimated to brutal north western ohio winters and this should keep me feeling comfortable in the coldest conditions. smart purchase.
