The Storm Defender Insulated Gauntlet Glove + Liner Combo features:
These gloves were exactly what I needed for frigid-cold weather construction, specifically framing. Did not lose much finger/hand dexterity, and there was even room to slip in a hand warmer packet. Plus the extra length down around the wrist was key.
These
Are
Awesome!!
I was looking for a pair of gloves that would keep my fingertips warm while ice fishing in tremendously frigid conditions. I found 'em. I am 65 years old and I have owned hundreds of gloves during my lifetime, but none of them did the job like these. I especially liked the fact that I could pull off the outside layer and keep my hands protected with the inside layer while baiting my hook or briefly working with the tiny stuff.
I have to say, first, that I am a HUGE Carhartt proponent. I have several dozen pieces. Many coats and vests. This was the first item from Carhartt that has not measured up. My hands absolutely froze during only moderately cold temps. Ambient temperature was in the low 30’s. It was literally as if I wasn’t wearing gloves, at all, except for the limited mobility and tactile decrease. Completely shocked and disappointed with the lack of performance from these gloves.
They’ve already ripped, I’m not overly impressed
My hands are never cold.
rugged, warm, comfortable - what more to say?
Love the gloves, but if using the sizing method on the website, go up a size.
They are great gloves. They are built for the elements- warm and waterproof with enough dexterity for me to hold onto and work on my project. I would have preferred the insulation the inserts provided was built into the glove itself instead of being a separate insert because I know eventually, I will misplace the inserts and wearing the inserts inside the gloves to some extent restricts my fingers movements. However, the inserts are really not an issue because I have worn these gloves during a winter northeaster's snowstorm with single digit temperatures and without the inserts, they kept my hands more than warm enough. I would not hesitate to purchase these gloves again. As for the appearance box below- I do not care about appearance- all I care about is warmth- dryness- functionality- and durability and these gloves meet all what matters to me.
Really disappointed. Love all my Carhartt gear, but these are a giant dud. The first te I used them, my hands were starting to get cold within 10 minutes of snowblowing and it wasn't very cold out. These were a serious downgrade from my 20 year old snowboarding gloves. The second time I used them, it was fairly warm (maybe 35) and my hands were again cold in a few minutes. I removed the inserts and that improved things considerably. As some others suggested, the inserts might make the glove too tight, crushing the insulation/eliminating the effectiveness. I'm going to try them without the insert next time and give them a full test that way. In either case, it's a huge disappointment...poor design and a fairly expensive pair of gloves. I mean, they are winter gloves that do not keep your fingers warm. Seriously?
Great gloves
Leaked at the seams on a few fingers in a few days. Not very good quality.
I have a Olde pair of this same glove, I'll see if they hold up as well
For the price you cannot beat the quality. Plus you can remove the liner and use it on cool days. Great product. My son has this same glove and highly recommended it to me.
The gloves are very comfortable and warm. They are a little awkward when trying to do finite tasks, but aren't all winter gloves. Lol. Would definitely recommend them.
Great glove. 2 piece design is great for ice fishing.
I'm sorry to review poorly however my hands do get cold, rather quickly when using these gloves. Possibly not as quick when I "DO NOT" use the cloth inserts.
Perhaps they are too tight with the cloth inserts? However, if I go larger, I know I would not be able to grab and /or hold items very well. I love the coat my employer bought for us and expected to experience the same with the gloves. They are the middle price point of glove options. Perhaps I need to spend more, but the description for these seemed perfect for me.
I would like to return.
I should be able to return because they will not be usable as I planned, that is, for my part-time job outside for a local city maintenance organization.
If you are Carhartt reading this, can you share my return possibilities. If you believe the more expensive ones will perform better, I would be willing to upgrade for the difference in cost.
Please let me know.
Thank you.
Good fit , warm and waterproof in the snow
Nice gloves, kept my hands warm while snowblowing for 2 hours. The removable inner glove is great for driving. would buy again. As other reviewers pointed out the size runs small. I chose a size up from my usual and they fit fine. I'm a huge fan of Carhartt, their products are always great quality and work as described
These gloves areTERRIBLE. Water goes straight through them. They are freezing cold. I’m totally stunned by the utter lack of quality from such a highly rated glove. Go with another option.
Runs small so order the next size up. I got a XL and needed to order a 2XL. Not as warm for a cold weather glove as I was hoping for. First time using in 18 degree weather with wind chill at 5 degree with both inner and outer layers on my fingers were cold. I was disappointed
Awesome gloves ! Warm, comfortable and allow finger mobility.
Great gloves, good price
We lovje them in this cold weather they seam to be very well put together good material very hard thing to find now days !
I do snow removal for winter work and they only lasted a couple times out before the strap to tighten them around my wrist ripped off and made a hole in my glove
Somewhat disappointed in these gloves. Bought them as I assumed that carhartt was a good “outdoor” brand and would be warm . These were not exactly something to write home about. And definitely not worth the price tag. Returned them and purchased some from Duluth trading and they are much warmer
It runs incredibly small. I am a L on the sizing fit and bought the XXL. With the liner, it was so tight, I couldn't even move my hand. The liner isn't all that warm nor is the glove. I tried it out in 30 degree dry weather for about 20 minutes and my fingertips got cold. They aren't even a thick material like my other insulated Carhartt gloves. I love my Carhartt bibs but these are absolutely junk.
No issues, third pair of Carhartt gloves I've purchased.
Sizing runs small, go big
runs small. I'm a fan of Carhart and have many items from the, I have now got 2 pairs of gloves, most of their items are true to fit but the gloves need to be ordered 2 sizes larger
They feel like a good warm glove.....they are a Christmas gift that he requested.
Great quality at a good price
These gloves are well worth the money. With the removable liners it is like getting three pair of gloves for the price of one. Very functional no matter what the weather outside is.
great cold weather work gloves
Nice gloves. they are not as warm as i would have thought
They run about 1/2 size small
Why would such a big capable company not make super warm gloves for women and children, but rather only for men? Instead of having 50 different gloves just make 3 winter weights and make them for everyone! All waterproof for winter and maybe the option of not for summer. I am appalled that there is no size option (forget colour) for children and women. Get with it, it is 2020!
I was expecting the gloves to keep hands warmer, not up to carhartt standards
I just purchased a pair for a daughter after buying three pairs last season for other members of my family.
Gloves are under sized to fit with liners
Sales person did a great job
recommended a pair of extra liners with purchase
gloves fit to tight even with one pair of liners
can't fit gloves on with both pairs
I currently work near Watertown NY where it gets to below zero on a regular basis. My brother recently gifted me a pair of these and I am enthralled by them. On a daily basis I am outside for up to 8 hours and these gloves have made it so much comfortable by providing premium insulation with the outer gloves but also allowing me to keep my hands warm when I take the outer shells off to improve dexterity. My old fault with them is that the inner gloves can fray a little bit when working with Velcro.
These were purchased to replace an old pair. Used them for shoveling the driveway. The inner glove I use when driving the car until it fully heats up inside. They are also used when walking the dog. I have not found them to get smelly like cheaper gloves after wearing them for awhile.
The last pair were too small for my husband. I returned them and then had him look at my “finalist” choices. He picked these and I ordered the next size up, which fit PERFECTLY! Now, DENVER hasn’t much snow all of January, so he didn’t get to test them out yet. However, in spite of it being 70 degrees today, snow and bitter cold temps will be here tomorrow and Tuesday. He will be ready!
Difficult to comment on durability, since he hasn’t worn them yet.
Great gloves ! They stay dry and warm . Great grip
I ordered size large but they were very snug. Didn't realize when I ordered that there were two pair, a pair of liners and a pair of external shell. Very cumbersome but warm.
Very nice glove. Very warm!
Great gloves!
I love them they’re awesome I would recommend them
Good quality and warmth.
Best winter gloves out there!
Absolutely love them. my Boyfriend normally wears an XL in gloves but I ordered a 2xl and they offer him extra comfort with no pinching or binding. would definitely recommend these for everyone
These are really warm gloves but are not as durable as other pairs I have owned. They are more made for recreational activities than actual work.
I like the gloves but the other ones, the ones for warmer weather, are too small.
fit well, a little hindering because of the 2 piece design, very warm
Great gloves. The gloves fit and the liners fit but with liners on gloves are tight. Probably get the XL next time. Weather has been mild so far this winter so haven’t given them the test.
Got these as a gift for my father who has a hard time finding gloves that fit due to a accident. Ordered him the biggest size and he was able to get them on fairly easily. However they did not hold up to the elements, he shovels and plows in the winter and the snow and salt wore the gloves down. They only lasted about half the season before they shrunk and no longer fit.
these gloves will keep your hands nice and warm but there way to bulky to do any work in and forget about driving !
Solid glove
Has more mobility for tasks than similar thickness gloves - but even today, when temp was only in the low 30's and I had the extra liner set on, my hands were cold.
Had a pair last year but lost them! Favorite winter gloves!
I tried these gloves on in store and fit great. Felt
Great. My friend at work have these and they keep your hands very warm and insulated, also dry.
I received these gloves as a gift and they are one of the best pair of gloves I have ever owned. They kept my hands warm while riding my motorcycle 45 miles to work in 35 degree weather at 60 mph. Excellent gloves, excellent price.
I still use the pair my new gloves are replacing. The new gloves do not seem to have the insulation that the old gloves have. They are thinner with less fill. Due to the extreme temps. I can experience here in Central Oregon, I am disappointed.
Looked exactly like it was haven’t used yet.
will be using during hunting season.???
Comfortable material inside. Feels so soft. Not using the liner yet. They should keep warm together. Can't say anything about their durability yet, as I've been using them for a couple weeks now.
They are warm but they wore down yuck using them to shovel
fit is great warmth is great
I purchased the older model pipeline gloves which were replaced by Carhartt (thanks!) due to stitching tearing at the finger after minimal use. Received these gloves and they are very warm, and waterproof. Great for Wyoming winters. First time out shoveling snow in them and the finger stitching tore again. Disappointed because I was excited about these gloves, love the way they look and feel. But durability is why I purchase my many Carhartt products and that seems to be lacking with these gloves. These may be good for casual wear but could not hold up to even a routine winter chore. Disappointed.
Gloves work great. liner is slightly too thick for easy on and off. Not a big problem. Sometimes the outer glove finger lining will pull out when taking the outer glove off.
Warm and comfy and durable.
Gloves are very nice looking and well made. This has been a very cold winter in NYS, the gloves are not as warm as I hoped.
Warm
Great gloves, they come with a thinner fleece glove as a liner, but it works great for driving as well. The rubber grips on both pairs of gloves work great. The gloves are very warm and are made of a good durable material as well.
Great gloves! Love how it has inner liner that comes out. Runs a tad small and hard to put outer glove over inner. Very warm.
Purchased these gloves for the cold temps. My glove size is large, I am a inspector where I have to take my hand out and write, I have a very difficult time putting My hand back in the glove due to its tightness.
I purchased xl and these are still tight, I think the glove is under sized by two sizes. It appears the hand size may have been determined without a liner? The liners are a great thing to have if the gloves were not so tight. I am sure would be warner if they were not so tight, I very disappointed with the glove and not to mention the price I paid.
I have been in constriction my entire career and Have alway purchase Carhartt from pant, shirts and jackets. Very disappointed
These have held up great so far. I have been wearing them daily for 2-3 weeks.Dexterity is really good for a glove this size. The temperature has been as low as 18 deg F. And still pretty comphy. If you can stay moving/working you’ll be fine. They do come with a removable liner glove that is easy to take in and out of the glove. I haven’t had any problem with it getting fought up while sliding it into the shell. Good job on this one!!
Almost warm enough. Best gloves I've had yet, though. My hands get very cold.
I have been looking for a good glove for a long time for COLD weather. I have not used these in extreme temperatures yet, but they are way above any other that I have seen or used. I am looking forward to putting them to the test. Have confidence that they will perform as expected. The liner can be worn separate and is thick on its own, combined with the outer glove, they seem quite impressive.
I think these gloves are awesome. They are warm and comfortable. Perfect for working outdoors.
I use a lot of gloves here on the farm, and I gotta say these rank with the worst all time. They advertise to be “waterproof” which isn’t slightly true. They’ll soak through at the first sight of moisture. They will keep your hands warm when dry but don’t worry they won’t stay dry long. I’m seriously disappointed in these. I love Carhartt gear but being honest I wouldn’t recommend these to anyone who works outside.
Bought these for my son who works outdoors in Wyoming where it’s below zero most of the winter mornings. He says they are the first gloves he’s ever owned that have actually kept his hands warm. Bought another pair for my husband!
I love my gloves they keep my hands warm there durable only problem was I was sent the wrong color other than that I would recommend these to anyone thanks Carhartt.
Good fit and warm and I like the inserts. Great for blowing snow or out on the ATV.
Fit perfect! Waiting for cold temps to put to the test.
The gloves are great for snow blowing and other outdoor work that needs to get done
even though I ordered 2XL sized gloves they are still too small. I can still use them when I ski, but they’re tight. If you have big hands, I’d be careful of the sizing.
My husband loves the gloves. He said they are very durable and comfortable. Great for work!
Double set of gloves for when it is really cold. The outers fit fine by themselves, but I struggle to put them on with the liner gloves, and I bought a size larger than normal. Just got them so hard to tell yet on durability and quality. Comfort was lowered due to the size problem with the liners.
Awesome Gloves
He was especially happy with the liners that have grips.
Real nice. I picked them up for working outside on rooftop units mostly. They are super warm and comfortable and I like that if I need extra articulation I can pull the shell and continue working with the liner on. I’m probqbly going to order the gauntlet impact gloves soon as well. I’m convinced my whole life I hated winter because I just simply have good enough gear.
Outstanding gloves
