The Irish Setter 8-inch Mesabi Insulated Safety Toe Boots feature:
Apparently they're not making the boot anymore. Would like another pair.
I've worn these boots daily working outside primarily off of ladders. These boots are comfortable enough and fit nicely, but are very heavy and leave me ready to get out of them by the end of a day. My biggest issue is the waterproofing. They've always seemed to have a problem leaking water. Trekking in snow in the is particularly bad for my boots, I usually come out soaked with freezing feet.
I've had 2 pairs of these boots within the last 5 years...Worn daily for work (Commercial Roofing) as well as hunting, hiking and yard work. I give up on comfort for some activities just for the peace of mind knowing my feet will me warm AND stay dry. I never write reviews for anything...I hope this gives a good idea of how well these boots have served me.
These boots are super heavy and hard to break in , ive resorted back to wearing old work boots
Been wearing these boots for about three months now.my feet do not feel tired or sore at the end of a ten hour work day
I brought these boots two months ago and they are wonderful
I have worn IS exclusively for a decade after trying other brands, these include hunting and work boots(Wingmaster was my previous boot). The Mesabi was comfortable out of the box with little to no break-in. I am on year two of this pair and they have held up despite being worn 12-18 hours a day over the course of 2-years with no additional care (10-12 hours a day at work and then 2-3 on farm). The foot base is starting to crack, but the sole and leather has held up and have found the logger heel has helped my back when on my feet. Will be purchasing again and will remain with IS.
I am a cell phone tower technician and these boots have held up to the winter months and i couldn’t be happier! Best boot I’ve ever owned
This is my 3rd pair. They are like slippers. I wear them over 16 hours a day
Decent boot, little to no break in time. They do have one flaw though they tend to crack along the sides where the upper meets the sole. Fairly decent when it comes to keeping my feet dry and warm until the cracks occur.
I have had this pair for about 10 months and I have to say they are comfortable and fit just right. But, again, it's been 10 months and they are far from watertight and the sole is cracked in 5 different places. Almost like it's not even one piece. I think you guys could do better construction of the boot, and it couldn't hurt to have a logger made here in the u.s. I like your boot and I wouldn't mind buying it if it was constructed well and maybe named something other than... "Mesabi"
I checked out a lot of boots before purchasing these. I’ve been a heavy equipment shop mechanic for 14 years and decided to venture out on the road. Being exposed to the winters and rains of Buffalo,NY, I needed a great, waterproof, insulated boot.after trying on many boots, and being a previous Wolverine advocate, I decide to try these.Fit was great, but they do run small. Other than that, felt great out of the box, build quality very impressive. Well built work boot. I will update this review after 6 months to see how they hold up.
Great Product confortable boots great for heavy-duty work.
Apparently they're not making the boot anymore. Would like another pair.
