The Wingshooter ST features:
I have been waiting a little over a year to buy my third pair but I have had no success finding a pair when will these be available again?
I’ve had these boots about 6 months and they are the worst boots I’ve ever had by the second month the toe was all blown apart and now the tread on these is just about completely gone by far worst boots I’ve ever had
I bought these boots a year ago and they've treated my feet so well. I'm a rigger. Constantly walking and climbing. Great traction on Iron and pipe while I'm up in the pipe racks. I'm very sure footed with them.
Bought my husband a pair of these as they are his favorite work boots, for the amount spent they are already coming apart. The soles are coming apart from the boot and the stitching is coming apart.
These boots are the best I am trying to find another pair with are hard to find I hope y’all don’t quit making these boots
I got these in February it’s September. There was absolutely no break in period. This is my first wedge sole. The most comfortable pair of boots I’ve ever owned. As a wedge sole is designed for… The type of work performed is CIPP. Sewage Rehabilitation. Walking residential streets and sometimes dealing with large amounts of water. The reason for the 4 stars is the sole does still have life left within them. The boots leather and uppers is still in great condition. The waterproofness lasted about 5 months. The boot is resoleable. Due to the comfortability I purchased a second pair.
Love these boots 6 in and 8 in no break in period on my part. No safety toe on my purchases though.Fact only the soles wear out to soon.Otherwise the leather and the stitching on all 3 pair that I’ve worn are great.Love them so much have a new pair 6 in in a box when needed.
Fit and comfort is phenomenal. Toe box stitch isn’t durable. I work Wildfires and only got to use these for three months total across two seasons, much of the time flying ops and staying in the helicopter. Unfortunately they fell apart after the 6 month warranty. Would not recommend this model. Also they eat laces on the daily. The eyelets were not rounded out of factory. Gonna take a round file to those and get a certified repair shop to salvage the toe box. Praying I can get at least one full season out of them. Curious about some of the other models with a solid toe box design.
I was wondering when these boots are going to be available again
Most comfortable boots I’ve ever had
But I wore them out and my local dealer says there not available until next fall
These boots started out great when I bought them in April of 2021. I had to get used to walking with the wedge style sole, not a problem. In August I blew out one of the eye hooks, it literally broke in two, the front away from the back (rivet came undone). I lived with them that way for another few months. Then in November, the same thing happened, now outside of the 6 month warranty. I took them to a Red Wing store and they told me they could fix them, no problem, only about $6 an eye. I told them that was a problem for me, not financially, but just the fact they wouldn't stand behind the craftsmanship. Since the second eye came off, I started wearing my old boots from another manufacturer about every other day. I barely had many miles put on the Wingshooter.
I replaces the laces with paracord after having one lace shred (maybe from the eye?), and decided to do that with all my boots.
I had an old pair of Irish Setters that I wore right into the ground, they lasted MANY years, so I hoped to get the same from these Wingshooters...not the case. If this is how they will hold up, I will never buy another pair, especially with the limited warranty. I'm enclosing a pic of my boots, you can see they have little wear, just missing the eyes.
Initially I thought these boots were great. Out of the box they fit well and we’re easy to break in. Over time they remained comfortable and withheld the conditions of my job. Unfortunately this week the toe area split wide open at the seam without and warning. I’ve only had these boots for about 5 months and was very surprised and upset about this. I’m on a religious schedule of cleaning, and oiling these boots every 2 weeks as well. After contacting the redwing store I purchased these from I was told there’s no guarantee on Irish Setter boots. Funny how $230 boots don’t carry any type of warranty. From now on I’ll trust my gut and buy Made in the USA workboots from another retailer. I’m not sure what happened to Irish Setter/Redwing but your quality, and customer service has went WAY down hill.
I am a avid bird hunter and have tried a few of different boots through out the years and keep coming back to Irish Setters. They are comfortable and dry. I have found that they last longer than the competitors. The soles don’t create drag in the cover and the treads won’t clod up with mud. All around best boots you can buy. Lastly the customer service is top notch.
I have been running these boots for about 6 months but with it being this time of year I have to switch between my winter work boots and these depending on the weather. These boots are very comfortable and fit like a glove. The only problems with them is the sole life but I knew they wouldn’t last as long as my previous boots when I bought them, I bought them based off comfort. The waterproofing is finally wearing off but I work in Wisconsin and the salt and constantly being wet I’m sure doesn’t help.
These are one of the most comfortable workbook you can buy . Unfortunately the quality of the boot has went down dramatically over the last few years.. usually this boot will last me a year .. this time within three weeks the stitching in the back started falling apart.. they had it resowed.. but then started wearing them again .. and the toe started wearing through in like three days . So if you want the boot to last .. use tough toe or kg boot guard.. and coat all stitching with super glue.. sad you have to do that for $200
But the soles will last and they are very comfortable .
I gave boots to my son for his birthday on March 31st. He has only worn them for 2 months, the stitching is coming undone and lace hook came off. For $200 boots they should last much longer than this. He states they are very comfortable but seem to be falling apart. Not sure if I got a defective pair.
I bought these boots 2 months ago and the stitching on the toe has already fallen apart just like the 3 pairs I had prior to these. Their “industry leading warranty” was a 60% discount. The comfort was the only thing that kept me coming back. I won’t give this company another dollar.
I bought these boots around 6 or 7 month ago . Love the fit love how they hold up , I just wish you made a non mock toe model of this boot . I have burnt out the stitching on top of the toe . As I am a welder built some covers helped a little , but the sparks got to them. Would recommend to friends . Just not the ones that weld .
had them for one day now. Amazing. will submit followups daily.
I’ve had these boots for a year now and they are in better shape and comfort than any work boot I’ve ever bought. I’ve tried every brand of work boot you can imagine, and these simply are the best. I work nearly 50 hour weeks on a commercial construction job site wood framing and doing trim work. Along, with the occasional working in the rain and your feet will be staying dry even if the rest of you isn’t. Standing ovation to the men and women at RedWing for these.
They feel great you can wear them right out of the box with no problems but if you do any kind of heavy duty construction concrete rodbuster any other trade I should guess you get something else if you work in a warehouse or work maintenance or something of that nature and those are the perfect boot for you
I purchased these 2 months ago. haven't been disappointed yet. felt like the boots broke in already. my feet thank me every time I slip on these boots.
No breaking in comfortable rite away lace up tight high great ankle support and light weight boots not heavy at all
This is a good boot that protects the foot but isn’t 100% waterproof. The boot becomes discolored quickly.
I’ve been wearing this boots for the past 2 months while working at oil fields. Overall the most comfortable boots I’ve bought. However feels a little hot during hot weather. Maybe it’s the waterproofing that’s doesn’t allow the heat to disperse?
Happy to have put these boots to work. They have been watered and muddy at a few job sites and they have kept there dryness. Very happy.
I have been buying these boots for some years now because I work 12- 18 hour days and these boots are like wearing slippers. These boots make it possible to work the hours I do. Thank you Red Wing, your boots are good to go just the way the are!
Purchased them two months ago working out very well
Bought them brand new and in less than 3 weeks the stitching on top of the steel toe was broken and the steel toe was showing.
I just started getting my feet wet dont understand how since they're supposed to be waterproof..
I'm on my feet almost 12 hrs a day 7 days a week. My boots I currently have of 2 years are finally worn and I've decided to purchase these new boots for work. My back so far and feet feel great and comfortable. No complaints yet.
I've bought 5 sets of these boots.. they're pretty good and if you wear them every now and then they probably will last longer then the ones I buy. I'm in construction. And I agree with some reviews that say they last about 4 or 5 months. The soles do wear out pretty quick. The stitching on the outside of boots. In the heel area and up near toe area. I usually have the toes dipped to prevent the toe from getting damaged and ends up with a hole. I really do love the boots. Composite toe, the water proofing etc. But if you don't treat them with mink oil. They'll dry out. Stitching will dry out and begin to come apart. Caught in a pickle here. They're nice comfortable the composite shank and toes. I'm ordering them again but you guys should think about having them protected already on the toe.
I've had these boots for 2 years now and the soles are wearing down, all the stitching is still together the eyelets and speed laces are still intact and also still using the original shoe laces and the liner inside the boot is good no ripping. I wear these boots 7 days a week for work and casual and they been through alot of punishment and I'm impressed how well they stood up for the last 2 years. Down side for me was breaking them in the tow area because I have wide feet and also having a foot issue, just took longer for to get comfortable, but there comfortable and tough boots
Really over priced last me the same as a 60-80 dollar boots a little more comfortable but still starts cracking a tearing down as fast as any other boot really don’t know what all the hype is about I think people are just paying for the name
I’ve had these boots for about a year and right out of the box they were amazing. I purchased the custom insoles to ensure the best possible fit, and I can wear these things all day long. But unfortunately I’ve had to re-sole them 3 times since I purchased them. They are started to come apart. I work in a lumber yard which is mostly walking on asphalt, concrete or wood. I wish these would last longer considering the price point.
Fell apart in a month, I’ve owned way cheaper boots from Walmart that lasted longer.
These boots are amazing until you have to lace them up and go to work in them. Inner lining comes loose. After 6 months, still tearing skin off of the back of my heal. Standing on these things are a nightmare. You can feel all the imperfections. I took the first pair back due to stitching defects destroying my little toes, and the “nails” they use to keep the sole attached to the bottoms of the boot. Even the sales rep assisting me was shocked to see how poorly the first pair was made. Was given a replacement pair in its place. Had to go to 2 different stores to find a semi comfortable left and right boot. ( went to store A for the left boot, and store B for the right one).
Do yourselves a favor, save your money and get a real pair of boots.
I’ve owned 2 pair for work boots. Being that I’m on my feet, ladder, and knees for 10 hours a day as a plumber I’d say the comfort held up. The only downside is that each pair only lasted a year. Extreme comfort from the moment I put them on to the moment I retired them. Good purchase.
Awesome boot.Worn redwing brands my whole career. The best boots of all time.
Lifelong Red Wing customer here. This is the 2nd pair of Wingshooters that I have purchased in the last year and they both have had the same problem, the stitching at the toe coming apart. These boots only made it four months until this happened. I haven’t made it back into the store yet but if I don’t get a replacement pair of boots versus a stitch job like me first pair, Red Wing has lost me as a customer.
Been buying these for a while and when it’s time to buy new boots, I try on other styles and brands but always come back to these.
The boots themselves have been pretty good. The shoe laces are junk and I the tough toe wasn't any better, its peeled off and the shoe laces have broke multiple times
I haven’t even had my boots for a month and the toes are torn. Stitches are coming out in the back, the souks are worn down.
I have owned 5 pairs of these so far and I have to say they are extremely comfortable. The waterproof membrane goes up high on the tongue which keeps it from bunching up on your ankle, and the heel is not to high. I love it.
The soles are good on everything except frost or ice. They do wear out a little fast for the money though. I get about 8-10 months before waterproofing fails. Warranty is only 6 months. I wish they would make a second version of this boot with a heavy lug sole for the mud. Also wish it came with a puncture resistant fabric in the insole so it could still flex good but offer puncture protection.
Boot feels amazing from the get go! 8 hours at a job site and my feet are thanking me. I just got the so the jury is still out on the durability. I hope they last.
Amazing boot and very very comfortable. keeps you dry and warm in the cold but also breath fairly well in the heat. I have no complaints about these boots whatsoever. and the safety toe is a very nice feature
I bought these a little over a year ago, back in late January, 2019, now it’s March of 2020. These have been some pretty good boots and they haven’t given me much trouble at all other than just recently when they were put to the test a little. For the past 2 days I’ve been working in about a half inch of water, and being that I do have the 8inch, leather, waterproof Irish Setters, I thought I wouldn’t have a problem with the water. But I was wrong, after a few hours of working in these conditions, my feet felt really moist and wet, it as much as sitting water but enough to get in for me to notice. And I know it’s not my feet sweating too much because I didn’t even have this kind of problem when I was working in the hot heat of the summer. I don’t see any cracks or punctures anywhere on the boot that would be the the cause. Now I don’t know if it’s because it’s due for a re-sole but I want answers before I go buying a new pair that will do the same thing in a year.
I am a heavy diesel mechanic i work on concrete most days but also in mud and muck on service calls. These boots keep me dry and comfortable all day every day. Pay the extra for the insoles i never realized how much a good insole could help my knees and back.
Hope this helps, Zack B
What are we looking for in a goodworkboot? They need to be comfortable. And, these boots bring the ahh to the toes. Great when it comes to standing on concrete floors all day. The King toe box is awesome! Good bye safety toe burn! The boot has to be durable. Again, these boots hold their own against pallets, steel drums and tomato paste! Although, the soles are stained a bit after coming in contact with the red thickening agent. While I am mentioning the soles, I have to say that if you are on metal grading of any kind, be extra careful; the soles are slip resistant, not slip proof! Now, the last thing that a good boot needs is to be WATERPROOF. And, I the boots have failed me in this area after only 9 days of work! The stitching at the top of the boot is the leaky culprit. Very disappointing. If this is the response to water in less than two weeks of service, I would hate to see what happens after a month of regular usage. Red Wing's craftmanship is definitely defective in this area. I still need good boots to keep my feet dry, today ...
Bought these for shop class but wear them everyday. So happy I got them.
Just got my new boots in today and I love them. I've always worn Redwing boots but this is my first pair of Irish setter boots. If you likr Redwing boots you will definitely like these. Looking forward to breaking them in! I'm satisfied!
I get a new pair of the waterproof version every six months with my work voucher. Love them, my feet sweat a little in them but I wear cheap socks, and it’s worth it when I step in a 6in deep puddle or ditch and I otherwise stay dry. Was very pleasantly surprised by the initial comfort, no break in period.
My only complaint; the laces are garbage, they seem nice at first but only last 2 months at best before the outer wrap disintegrates. The replacement laces are free under warranty, but those are even cheaper and last less time
These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Out of the box, they broke in fairly quickly and have held up well. I usually have to wear a custom orthotic with my other boots but not with these. The stock insoles are very comfy and cushy. I highly recommend these. I oil them about once a month and they have held up well.
The ST is the perfect mix of style and function. Great classic looks with safety toe and improved sole design. On my second pair. First pair lasted 18 months of daily use before the sole wore out. I especially like the wedge sole design for cleaning mud off and the 8” upper for able support.
Bought a couple months ago love them. Great pair of boots.
This is a great boot!! Unfortunately it only comes in one color. I would love to see a darker leather offered on this boot other than that I have no complaints.
Best boots I've ever purchased. As a journeyman lineman I have tried several kinds of boots these have by far been the most comfortable. The first shift I wore them for was an 18 hour shift and my feet never bothered me. From now on I will be wearing these Irish setters on all of my long underground jobs
Probably the most comfortable boot I’ve bought, ever. So far they’ve been good, can see the stitching being an issue in the very near future.
Bought these boots and notice the thread from boot it’s loose like if it’s coming off cause I can it’s not keeping together. For the amount paid I expected them to be durable
Had these boots for around a month and they leak. I’ve taken them back to Red Wing Shoes store twice now. The boots pass their leak test but some how I end up with wet feet when I wear them to work. 200 dollars for a pair of boots I’d hope they’re somewhat water resistant. I’ve had a lot of wing shooter boots and they’ve kept my feet dry. Not a happy customer.
I bought this boots 3 months ago and I wear them 6 days a week and there so perfect, best boots ever
I decided to order the ST version of this boot instead of the classic Wingshooter for my upland hunts. These have and extra inch in height and the polyurethane outsole, which allows me to wear them out of the field without worrying about destroying the sole. I've had the chance to take these on about 8 pheasant hunts in the past month and have experienced everything from warm weather to about 6 inches of snow and ice. Really pleased with the waterproofing and comfort. Fingers crossed they will hold up for a few seasons!
Love the Irish setter work boots wingshooter at work off work I'm in those all day very comfortable I bought six pair in the last 3 years instead of throwing them out I will start having them resoled very nice boots"and they support my lower back".
How about these boots a while back and they have been extremely helpful in supporting my ankle
Great boot for winter! I’ve had every boot out there, and these are great for a winter. Two is pushing it. The bottoms wear. I recommend inserts and getting the toes dipped..
I boUght these a month ago and they feel good, plus receive many complements.
I bought a first pair of Irish setters and I liked the way they looked. About 3 months in use they started to get worn out on the outer bottom sole. So I would want for red wings to try and make the bottom sole stronger.
The best wearing boots I have ever put on my feet right out of the box!
I bought a pair of Irish setters about two in a half months ago had the tuff to put on well 4 days later the tuff toe rubbed off on my left foot but was fine on my right boot went back in they tried to fixed it but didn’t work so I called corporate because I spent a good amount of money on these boots An wasn’t satisfied so they told me to go in an they would replace my boots with new ones an tuff toe them for me they r great boots was just a bad dip job but I am very satisfied with there customer service An will continue to buy red wings like I have in the past
I bought these boots in march and the soles are already worn out. Very comfortable boot but wouldn't buy again because of this issue.
The only work boot I’ve worn for the past 20 years and they’ve never let me down
I bought about 2 months ago it took a little while to break in but they are great
This is my first redwing product. Boots are comfortable but are falling apart after 4 months. I usually get 12-18 months out my works boots, not sure I’ll get 6 months out of these.
yes these are the best boots i have ever own!..
And i am happy with them thanks to the owners that make them.
I work at a Peterbilt manufacturing plant and these boots are awesome. So comfortable and can't even tell you have them on they're not heavy at all. Soft leather , no break in needed. First day I wore them was a 14 hour work day. No sore feet and no blisters.
Horrible traction on slippery surfaces, sole cracked within first six months. Also the boots are incredibly heavy. Only plus I can say is they have stayed waterproof. 10 out of 10 would not recommend
I am a fleet mechanic for a local trucking company. I purchased the 8” boot and absolutely loved ‘em -at first. After just four months, the toes came apart, and the soles had already worn down to the second layer. These boots may be good for someone who works in a factory or something, but anything where you’ll be kneeling, on rough concrete, or outside I do not recommend.
I've been working in excavation for about a year now and have been doing snowplowing and trunking on-and-off during the winter. After long days of working through mud, dirt, and all sorts of other conditions, they still stay dry and rugged for not being steel toe. On top of all that, they are hands-down the most comfortable boot I've ever owned and would highly recommend anyone curious to try them out; well worth the price.
The most comfortable boots I have ever owned I am on my feet 12 to 14 hours a day on tough job sites and tough conditions !! No break in time. They keep your feet totally dry and warm in snow , rain and mud in tough New England weather. Only issue is sole wore out a little faster than I expected but the salesman did say the sole would wear out when I told him what type of job I was using for and type of conditions they would be in daily so I was well aware that might happen. That being said the boots are holding up great minus the sole wearing out but still as comfortable as ever !!! I would recommend them to anyone looking for comfortable boots
So I bought these boots literally a month ago, the stitching on the sole as well as the toe is both peeling , I'm very bummed out considering they were 220 dollars for one month of use, and they're the most comfortable boot I've ever had, also was told they have a warranty but clearly they're customer service is just as poor as the boot because they told me the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, but if it doesn't cover normal wear and tear how are you going to offer a warranty in the first place? I give it another 5-10 years before red wing and Irish setter both shut down because there boots are no longer USA made and are complete garbage
Ok so i bought these boots 4 months ago, i love them, they are the most comfortable boots ive ever worked in, i was previously in the military so i know walking in boots. First reason i hate them is they are 200 dollars and didnt last 4 months. Stitching wore out where composite toe ended on top. And the soles are ripping. Leather on the front of the toe started ripping before the boots were ever broke in. I love the boots but 200 for boots that arent going to last is just crazy. The employee kept saying they were for fishing and hunting. Composite toe for fishing??? Ive only seen them on the feet of iron workers. If red wing can fix the stitching issue, ripping sole, and leather ripping. I would consider potentially wasting 260 dollars again.
I will never buy redwing ever again the stitching tore right apart I bought them 7 moths ago and there garbage !!! Paid $240 while I was out of town working and they won’t do anything for me so never again !!!
I really love these boots. Since I started wearing them a year ago, I've referred them to everyone who asks me about them. I work 12 hour night shifts in New Zealand, dealing with the the elements and am thankful everyday for these guys. They break in quickly, are very waterproof and are warm and comfy. A few reviews complain about quality but most work boots can only take so much punishment. I've worked with Irish Setter on warranty in the past and they stand by their product. That is what you're paying for here folks. A well made quality boot with a great American company to stand behind it.
Sizing was tricky as the boots are leather and stretch quite a bit. I had to go down half a size as a result but am very happy compared to boots I've used in the past.
Bought these boots for work 3 months ago. The stitching is already coming undone from the seams and the toe is already coming apart. I thought red wing would make a quality boot for the price they charge. Very disappointed and dissatisfied and probably won’t be buying red wing again.
I have gone through 3 pairs of these boots in less than six months because of the toe or the sole because they fell apart. terrible boot to wear.
super comfortable and recommend to anyone who works construction or carpentry or even hunting overall great looking and feeling boot
Beautiful boot, very comfortable and has the durable and protection of the steel toe. Thank you red wing and Irish setter for the perfect boot. Do yourself a favor get a pair
I have been waiting a little over a year to buy my third pair but I have had no success finding a pair when will these be available again?
