The Kasota features:
I bought these boots 2.5 years ago and just bought a new pair. I really didn’t need to because they still hold up. I didn’t perform any care for these boots and they’ve held up amazing. I wore a hole in the toe crease point and the leather began separating from the toe about a month ago. I’ve worn them through my metal fabrication jobs a short term at UPS (immense amount of walking) and even plumbing putting a lot of wear and tear on the toes of these but they still held up. Metguards added in the past 3 months. I’ve been drenched while plumbing and in the rain. I’ve worked in these while dealing with more than 3 feet of snow through the cold seasons. I personally stay away from the models that have zippers I’ve never had a good experience with zippers. Worked most weeks as 7/10s or 6/10s and still wore them casually. I couldn’t recommend them more.
I have these boots for year and a half, I am about 300 LBS, and I can work 10 hours and my feet doesn't hurt. the sole start falling apart after all this time. the missing start is because the water proof is not great
poor quality of material I used them for 3 months and it broke. very expensive
I’m currently buying my 4th pair of these boots. I’m a carpenter who regularly gets about a year out of these. There are more durable styles out there, but you sacrifice comfort for that. It’s a personal decision for me that has worked out. I really like how these boots have very little break in time. Previously, more durable boots, have caused days of pain before they were broken in and I maybe only achieved a couple more months of life.
Bought these in February and not realizing the fact they aren't the same company with the same warranties went in to see about replacing them because Ultra dry apparently doesn't mean what I think it means. I've been a big supporter of Red Wings for 6 years and don't think I'll make that mistake again.
I bought a pair a year ago and there now shot! Material is separating holes are starting and arent comfortable. Wouldn't recommend buying.
Gave 3 stars just because of how comfortable and durable the uppers are. The soles are almost out of tread, only problem is I bought these boots in february of this year. I'm a tow truck operator working these boots have been exposed to fluids from vehicles and the pieces from accidents. But the soles have not even reached 5 months. I have an older stock number of 83646 but they should last for at least a year since my dad used to buy red wings and irish setter boots and would get at least a year out of them before the toes of the boots wore out. My red wings with Vibram soles are still good, those are just uncomfortable boots to wear anymore. Only way I would recommend these to a friend right now is for general hiking boots not for work. And these boots are not able to be resoled which kinda sucks
Got the Kasota with the BOA lace and they weren't bad when I bought them but a month or two in, my feet hurt everyday. I put in my Red Wing inserts and that's not helping much at all. The original inserts are so thin that my sandals are more comfortable. They seem to be decent quality but I wouldn't buy again
I bought mine about a year and a half ago, when I was working construction. Used them for about 3 months, and the zipper failed on one of the boots. Although they are comfortable, the construction seems subpar, especially for the cost.
Less then a year old! Pictures tell the story. $200 not worth it.
Got these boots after trying the Exos LITE. The Exos LITE were just not as comfortable as I thought, but loved the BOA lacing. These Kastoas are exactly what I was looking for. Very comfortable, light weight and non-metalic safety toe ( feet do not get cold!). Highly recommend.
I've had these boots for three and a half years! Wear them constantly through all kinds of conditions and work.
Yes they are finally falling apart but what do you expect. About to purchase my second pair tomorrow.
Most comfortable and dependable work boots I've owned.
I got these boots in July of 2021, they’re pretty solid, no complaints on comfort or durability, my biggest regret is just that I got them in tan and not black.
Anyway moving on, for about the first 4 months the waterproofing was incredible, I’d walk through 3” of standing water to get to a tank and I’d have more water on my pants than in my boots. After those four months the slightest step into a puddle and I needed to change socks.
I do roofing really glad I found the right boot for the environment I work in
Bought these boots because of the zippers on the side because i go in and out of customers many times a day and take them on and off a lot. the zipper got stuck early on but I was able to get it working again till it totally just broke on the right boot. They are super comfortable but the zipper breaking is a deal breaker
I have had these boots for over a year, and they are still as good as the day I got them. I usually do not wear them in mud/muck, but for normal working surfaces, they are holding up quite well.
I bought these a while ago and they are probably the most comfortable boots I have had. So far so good on the durability. I do a lot of walking and they have been good boots to where my next pair will be the same kind.
Always heard good things about this boot so I Bought this boot from Cabela’s on a Sunday.. by Tuesday both legs had abrasions on them from upper part of the boot And super uncomfortable after standing/walking about 14-16 Hours on them. Not worth the money at all unfortunately a waste of $170.00 that I can’t get back.
I love my boots! I got the boots as a Christmas gift from my family. I was so excited to get my new boots I went shopping the day after Christmas. I even paid extra for the custome insoles. They are really comfortable and are holding up well. However, roughly a week or two after wearing the boots I noticed my arches on my feet began to itch when I would take my boots off. I thought it was dry skin from winter and there wasn't a rash so I treated with lotion. The itching seemed to get worse and worse as it got warmer and warmer out. By march/april I had a couple of itchy dry patches on my feet. Then little while after that I had a couple of itchy red dots. It was time for the cats flea meds so I thought it might be fleas. Treated the cats but a month later my legs were covered with a red itchy rash. I never put two and two together. I thought, for some odd reason, I may have stress related eczema. I was highly stressed at the time and I had dry skin for a while. Turns out I am allergic to my new boots. It took 7 months for the rash to spread from my ankle up my leg. I have been forced to wear my old boots for now and it's been a couple of weeks and the rash is starting to go away. It's healing but I have read it can take up to 8 weeks to heal completely. I am so upset because I loved the boots! I am now stuck with the task of finding out what I am allergic to inside the boots in order to avoid it for a new pair I buy. I feel like I threw $250 down the drain. The boots are still in really good shape and I was needing a new pair of insoles but now I will have to find something different.
One month in and already purchasing a back-up pair!
Bought them 2 years ago and they are just now needing to be replaced. I bought them over other Redwing boots because it had a zipper on the side. As a service tech when I enter a residence I simply slip my boots off using the zipper so I don't track any mud into the house.
its very convenient. The laces are like new because I never used them. The zippers still work perfectly after 2 years. I just ordered another pair just like these. They are very comfortable even if I work a 16 hour day. I work as a technician and am exposed to all types of chemicals like diesel, antifreeze, battery acid and more. My feet have never been more protected or comfortable. The main reason that I bought Redwings is because I wanted to see if they were actually waterproof as advertised. They were. Even now, with the soles all worn out, my feet stay dry. I have practically worn these boots every day for work for 2 years and they have been outstanding. These are absolutely the best brand of work boots I have ever bought
These boots were great but began to split after about 8 months.
These boots are very comfortable and light - I love wearing them, but durability seems poor. They are my first foray into a side-zip boot.
About 5 months in, the left zipper began to bind and fail to mesh properly. This culminated in the zipper teeth separating from the seam material - based on other reviews this seems to be a common mode of failure. Perhaps changing the zipper sku to something more rugged would improve the product.
The leather of the boot itself is also relatively thin, a tradeoff between flexibility and weight vs durability. This is not necessarily a negative, just something to be aware of. I would not use these in an environment with any welding.
I bought these boots in October and they performed perfectly fine for me in the winter. The grip is acceptable on ice and they remain as flexible as can be expected in the cold. I've had no problems at all with the waterproofing.
In summary, while these are a well constructed and very comfy boot, I'm not sure if I would spend the money to buy these again. I was lucky that my problem appeared within the warranty period, otherwise I may have sworn off Irish Setter boots completely. They'd be a fairly expensive purchase for only 6 months of wear.
Own and owned many pairs of IS boots and loved them until these. Purchased for warehouse job and were comfortable and looked great UNTIL I noticed the holes that had worn on each side of the flex points. Nothing abusive done to these and now I have useless boots after paying a decent price. Irish Setter anything to say to a lifelong loyal customer?
I was recommended Irish setter boot by a friend and decided to try. While they are comfortable they don’t seem to hold up. About 6 months in the stitching on the zipper popped. Had to to to glue them just to wear. Wound up buying another pair of boots from another company. Makes me wonder about the quality of the materials used in these boots.
This is my 2nd pair of Irish Setter Kasota boots. The first pair lasted about 1.5 years. I have worked in tough conditions but the exterior of the boot has held up. The inside has broken down a bit, but
I am hard on the inside of shoes due to being flat footed and the way I walk.
I finally had my hopes and dreams of finding a decent work boot. I mean they stayed tied and felt not only sturdy but comfortable. Right at 5 months of having them the bottom sole completely fell off while I was at work and I had to spend the rest of my 8 hour work day with a sore foot. That is unacceptable and I wish I could have my money back. Too bad I don’t have the receipt or boots still. On to looking at another brand I suppose...
Had mine for over a year and they still are working great.
I like these boots. Comfy, medium duty work boot. The only reason I didn’t get five stars is because the toebox is a little too narrow for my wide feet. I usually buy a king toe boot. That’s my fault. I really wanted these boots and I pretty much knew that this would be a little bit of an issue. If you don’t have a very wide foot though, this is a great boot for medium duty work.
I've only had mine for 6 months. The zipper broke, the lace bracket at the top broke, and the soles have started to peel apart
I had another pair of Irish setters that lasted me 2 years. Was hopeful these would do the same but after 7 months they’ve caused me to develop planter facilities and the soles are all but gone.
These boots were great. They looked good they were perfectly comfortable but for the price they didn’t hold up at all. Entire side blew out on me under a year of use. Now these were my 5 days a week hard working work boot on the job both in the mud and on the concrete. (I’m a field electrician) but I take care of my stuff including my boots. I even greased them so the leather wouldn’t dry out but it didn’t matter. I’ve had Rockies that are half the price of these last twice as long. Too bad cuz I really liked these boots when I first bought them and liked the style but won’t be inclined to buy from Irish setter again.
Had them for a few months now excellent boots that are holding up better than I would have hoped. Great fit.
I have had these for nearly two years now and they are as comfortable now as the day I bought them. 60-70 hours/week on a construction site with no real issues, just normal wear and tear. They are so comfortable, in fact, that I have many times passed over my hunting boots and worn these quail hunting. When these wear out I will be buying the exact same boot to replace them.
I'm a factory welder, so these are used for pretty much nothing but standing on concrete 8 hours a day. Right around 12 months of use give or take a couple months. Zipper on one started giving up around the 9 month mark, totally unusable by 12 months. First boots that I loved, sadly not worth the price paid for them.
I needed a new pair of boots and I looked all over found these at Bass Pro. Long story short bought these in June and it is October. Zipper quit going up and down within the first two weeks. No biggie, bot its coming apart along with the sole. Letting water in not good. I will not buy another pair made by Irish Setter bot worth the 180.00 I paid.
love the boots they are my second pair. However I wore a size 11 in the first pair, the new pair iI ordered size 11 also but they are noticeable smaller. Not sure if this is a fluke or a quality control issue. I wish I could return for a half size up, I've already worn then for several days though.
Disappointed to be out 170 dollars
I bought these boots sometime ago and when I tried them on in the store they felt great. Fast forward a week or so and I wore them around the house for maybe 2 hours and the pain from the Metatarsal rubbing the top of my feet was awful. They've been sitting in my closet since then, still look like they just came out of the box. The store i bought them from is 4 hours away, wasnt worth the drive to return them. I don't normally give 1 star on anything, but hard to give anything more thats unbearable.
These are my first work boots. They are metatarsal so thankfully my new employer had to purchase them. They are very comfortable and the lightest metatarsal boot at the Red Wing store. The other guys put their boots on at the job site, I put mine on at the house. Thank you.
I bought these boots 2 years ago as my daily use for job sites, which I'm always traveling to. It's a lot easier to wear the boots I need rather than pack them, and this model having a zipper has made it easier going through TSA.
I wish these boots came with Vibram soles. These are probably the most comfortable boots I have found but the soles have worn down in less than 6 months! I have to walk on broken glass. They soles can't take the beating but my last pair of boots with the vibram soles were able to make it a year! Wouldn't recommend these if you walk on rough surfaces because these boots will get tore up quick! These do keep my feet dry when using hoses and walking through water.
I’ve worn many styles of Irish setter boots and have liked them all. Only problem I had with these are that the zipper broke on both shoes at about the 1 year mark
Awesome ,great fitting boots , keep feet nice and dry
I bought this boot 3 years ago. They are still in good shape but the soles are a bit worn so I bought a new pair about a month ago. I wear the old ones for work around the house. I’ve been in construction for 20 years. We (women) haven’t had great selections. These fit well,
i bought these boots 2 month ago and i wasnt expecting them to be this comfortable they are tough and i cant believe it the zippers kick but shoelace savers is what i call them. Good idea for the zipper
This is my second time purchasing these boots. I love them so much. So incredibly comfortable especially paired with the red wing insoles. I'm an electrician on my feet all day long and these things hold up to the abuse.
I bought these about 2 months ago and I have to say great boots, saved my toes more times than I can remember.
I’ve been wearing Irish Setters for over three years now. This is my second pair in that time period and they are amazing. Super comfy, durable and lightweight for a work boot. Do your feet a favor and pick a pair up. Worth every penny, I’ve bought more expensive boots and not been as happy as I am with these.
I bought this boot over a month ago and continue to have an issue with the left boot cutting into my shin. I have to apply moleskin to prevent pressure sores.
I waited to order a wider pair that i tried on of a different color in the store. When they arrived toe box was still too small. I also found the general fit to be off and the lacing/tying has to be perfect to keep it from too loose or too tight.Might be better for someone else. Could only stand them for a week Pretty sure I missed the return period. I will be selling these boots. Not the usual experience with Redwing.
about 2 months in with the boots and sipper broke.
To replace by work boots, I bought the Irish Setter Kasota using the social distancing procedures at the Downers Grove, IL store in June. The salesman was very accommodating, which is why this review received three stars. Once I had the opportunity to try them on, I did not like them. They were not well suited for my feet and, looking down at them, I found them very unattractive. They looked and felt cheap, and I thought they made me look like Bob the Builder. I returned them and went back to my leather Red Wings, which I will continue to have resoled in perpetuity.
bought it over a year ago. Was impressed by style and comfort and a year later still impressed
I've had different brands of boots and been exploring outside of a line of boots I was loyal to until I decided I should give something else a try. Then, I came across these bad boys and by gawd I can be on my feet literally all day. I typically walk on gravel, uneven surfaces, concrete, climb multiple flights of stairs, and have to deal with rain a lot. I can assure you, these boots are better than most and I'm thinking about buying more pairs just incase they discontinue this specific boot.
Bought these a couple of months ago. They are very comfortable and not as hot as some of my others. Only issue was, within a couple of weeks, all the black came off the sole of the right boot, leaving an ugly yellow on the bottom inch of the boot. Took them back to the store and exchanged for another pair of the same. So far, these are doing good.
The waterproof of these boots are amazing No complaints love how it in zips for easy take off after long day in them
I've owned this pair of boots going on a month. I can no longer wear them because the met guard pushes down on top of my foot(above arch) to a point that I have welts after a day of work. No padding between the guard and the liner. The soles are great, the toe and heel rubber is awesome, and the waterproofing works, but that guard is a deal breaker.
I wear them at work as a city employee working on the road.
Purchased a couple years ago for work where I leave them in my locker. All polished concrete floors with some ladder climbing and steel grating. They were so-so on comfort so I bought another brand in less than a year and then started using these just to wear when I walk in and out of work. So, they have not seen any kind of extreme use yet the very bottom sole is delaminating from the boot and the upper sole is releasing from the leather. Included pics are just examples of exists in multiple areas on the soles. Also the threads that hold the teeth of one of the zippers to the zipper fabric seem to have dry rotted and separated. Will not purchase brand again even though they are paid for by my company.
I bought these boots 4 almost 5 months ago, the soles wore out and are falling off of the boot. I work in a shop and outdoors. If you're looking for boots for a shop or outdoor environment I would not recommend these boots.
I wear these boots every day. The zipper feature is very handy. When I am not at work, I wear them around the house. I'm required to wear them at work, but opt to wear them at home.
My company gave a voucher for boots, worst boots I have ever worn! Feet constantly hurt, don’t breath at all going to buy my self another pair of comfortable boots and will probably not use my voucher next year.
Purchased these boots for work about 2 weeks ago, when I first put them on, they fit perfectly and were very comfortable. After wearing them for 8 hours a day for 2 weeks, the shape of the boots is changing for the worse. My toes now are pushed into the side of the safety toe, when they had plenty of room before. I can't return them now that I've worked in them for this long. I've had several Irish Setters throughout the years and have always been happy with them, but these might be what turn me away from the brand all together.
I bought mine about 2-3 years ago. The zippers are still going strong, the the sole of the toe on the right boot is coming apart. I have been very happy with this product. After reading your reviews I am wondering if I should purchase them again. Have they stopped caring about quality. I used these as work boots.
Purchased these before in the past and liked them. Lightweight and versatile. Wish they were actually non-permeable to liquids. Must replace these every 4-5 months with the work I do, or eventually go back to a previous model. Still a good work boot.
The toe protection of these boots are very narrow. I bought these boots two weeks ago, and I got the wide version (E2). I tried a different pair in the store, you know a few steps here and there, and I decided to go with these the Kasota boots. They felt good the first day I took them to work. They felt a little snug nothing out of normal for a new pair of boots. The second day, I started to feel the boots rubbing on the sides of my big toes, but I kept wearing them. I have been wearing these boots for two weeks, and every other part of the boot that felt tight is already broken in except for the side of the big toe. I noticed that part is where the toe protector starts, and I don't think that area is going to stretch. I compared them with my old Red Wings, and the toe protection is a lot wider on my old boots.
So i bought these boots and threw them in my closet waiting for the right time to wear them, i would pull them out once a month when i go work on my cabin in the mountains. The 5th time i wore these boots the rubber sole started to split and separate. The boots are now exactly 1 year old, have been worn 5 times, look brand new, and the sole is splitting away from the boot at the toe..... I guess thats what i get for trying to save them for the right use, brand new boots, that are out of warranty, and defective...... I did not expect this from Irish Setter.....
I really like them the only ones in the store I like
Thread came undone along seem, toe guard bends in and crushes my toes, uncomfortable to walk around and had less than a year and boots started to be uncomfortable. For the price, these boots should be lasting alot longer. I only bought these because Redwings lack boots for wormen and last red wings boots gave me planter faciiteis after wearing of a year. I have 3 styles of redwings boots, first hiking boot was great but discontinued and others are heavy, uncomfortable, steel or composite toe hurts toe but i was desperate to change my boot. No more Redwings for me and dont recommend for women at all!
I bought this boot 9 months ago zipper
broken crack in front and the bottoms are worn out and the sole tipped so they dont last you 2 years like they say. I dont recommend them
Had these for a year and then the zipper started tearing from the boot. Sent in for repair, was sent back and said they would not fix it. I was quoted $70 for a zipper repair. Not recommending this product, I guess Red Wings should stay away from the zipper design.
The outsole separated in less than six months. Exchanged for a second pair easy enough. FYI, the warranty doesn’t restart and goes from the original purchase date so if they fail again I will have to buy a new pair.
Love the boot felt good on my feet, after about 8 mount of the eyes broke but with a little help i could make it work. bought the high dollar insert with them they where great but only lasted about 6 month before i worn a hole in the heal. but the orginal inserts back in they last about 6 months. i guess it my heal. I dont know. But know there over a year old and the bottom of both heal on the out side has worn out as of chunks coming out. wish they would have lasted longer for the price. I get free boots at work but they suck. Diesel Mech for CAT.
Usually last a good 5-6 years. Purchased current pair two years ago this spring. One year ago, wet toes in right boot; noticed the front covering over the safety toe detached from the sole. Used a quick-setting epoxy to fill-in the area--so far so good. Then, this spring, wet toes in left boot due to the bottom sole layer separating from the mid-layer just below the tip of the safety toe. Cleaned/dried and expoxied the layers back together today. We'll see tomorrow if that worked. Contacted Irish Setter. Explained my situation; was provided a ref number and offered $50 off my next purchase.
I bought these in January and they’ve already started cracking on the side. Because of the severity of the cracks, moisture penetrates the layers and soaks my shocks. I’ve never had such a problem with any type of work boots. These are my first Irish Setters and they have not left a positive impression on me.
Fit nicely under my arches and have good grip when working on slick surfaces. A little heavy because of the toe but light enough to walk on for hours without my legs getting tired.
I brought this boot a few months ago and they are a great pair for the job I do
These are the best boots I have ever owned they fulfill my expectations 100%
I bought this boots and very happy I am using them for my 2nd job just wish I never go them grease on them.
I purchased these boots and they are the most comfortable boot I have ever owned.
Only complaint would be walking on grating 75% of the time and in the winter it gets pretty slick would like to see something with better traction but other than that great boot
Thank you and I will and have purchased Red Wings meant times!
I work outside and in unconditioned spaces. I have been wearing these boots everyday for the last two months (Jan and Feb and my feet have been comfortable, warm and dry. Very pleased!
Great boots but honestly the first time I owned Steel Toe boots. Problem is.. I think my body shifts more of the front of my feet so my Toes a lot friction and load. I never expierenced this.. Is a disgusting foot corn or etc.. I've never wore Steel toe boots until now and never had such toe pain
I got theses maybe 2 months ago and they were just horrible to my feet continued to give me three deprecate blood blisters.
The concept of these boots are genius. Finally, men's shoes with female technology. If you are like me, and hate your shoe strings coming untied or having to unlace and re-lace your shoes, these boots are perfect. They slip right on and slip right off with the pull of the zipper. Unfortunately, I've only had these boots for 4 months and the bottom sole started coming unattached and cracks started forming on the bottom of the sole. Luckily, they gave me another pair at no cost. I really really really... Want these things to work. I hate getting "flat tires" and I hate having to do up and undo my boot strings. I've only had to tie these boots once, (because you zip and unzip to take them off and leave them tied) and I haven't had them untie on me at all. Another down side is that the insert that it comes with is pretty lame. They got me for another $30 for upgraded inserts. In my humble opinion... If you're spending $189.99 for some work boots, they better be comfortable without having to spend extra for the inserts. Other than that, the upper sides of my big toes rub pretty badly. I don't for the life of me know why. It took my feet some getting used to. If it weren't for my company paying $110 and getting an extra off I'd be a little more upset. Also, I walk a lot at work (I'm an electrician at a brewery) and I'm susceptible to walking on broken glass bottles. If you have sweaty feet, these things don't breath but hey that's the price you're going to pay if you want them kept dry from outside sources like puddles and beer. I can't stress the fact enough that I love the concept of these boots. I just hope my second pair isn't a "manufacturer defect" as well. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope it helps. Drink g-e-n-e-s-e-e Beer! If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have posted this message.
Purchased a month ago. Zipper inches down during the day making sloppy fit. Other boots have a locking zipper .these don't.
Bought about a month ago. They hurt the sides of my feet and they get Lint like balls that scratch the sides of my ankles. Have to wear my old red wings
Always happy with their boots. Awesome and tough boots to last years
Always happy with their boots. Awesome and tough boots to last years
I walk a lot in these and my feet stay comfortable all day. Lighter weight makes them nice and the zipper feature saves plenty of time getting them on and off. Highly recommend.
I bought this a month ago and only wore once. I’ve never had a boot that was so uncomfortable. I understand all boots have to be broken in and I’ve had great red wing boots in the past but this is most definitely not one I’d buy again
So far I really like the safety toe work boot. It's light and eyelets make it easy to tie and untie.
I work as telephone fiber repairman for AT
I bought this shoe a few months ago and so far its really stable guves great ankle support its really durable material and i have walked through many puddles and not felt a single drop inside the boot
Purchased these boots 4 days ago to wear as a daily work boot and they have already lost the “waterproof” capability. A boot that is waterproof with ankle support and very comfortable are a must for my job because it is an outdoor career with a lot of walking. These boots are probably the most comfortable I’ve worn and I like the zipper feature but disappointed they aren’t waterproof.
I bought these two months ago. They are nice boots. The only issue I believe is that the insert padding is not comfortable. Just as in all the redwings I've ever had in 25 years!
I bought these in September and they are holding very well, the only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the met gaurds suck and will kill the top of your feet unless you modify them.
I bought these boots over a month ago. Quality is definitely there, but the employee that helped me insisted I get one size bigger than what I normally wear. The boots run too large.
These are the most comfortable boots I ever purchased
I usually buy Irish setters 6 inch with flat sole, but wanted to try something different. These caught my eye and decided to try them out, I was not disappointed. I think I found my new go to boots; I love that they're waterproof and that the toe has a bit more protection. Only wish they would make this in a flat sole, but still an awesome boot.
I got the boots and they seem like decent boots but they are uncomfortable and they are the size I usually wear so not a big deal but just wanted to get a different boot by redwings possible even more expensive ones but I called the store they said I only can get the same ones even though mine looked like they have never been worn I kinda get it but now I have a $200 dollar pair of boots I'll probably never wear
The Irish setter work boots are excellent I love them and I definitely would buy another pair when I needed them for the first pair of red wing work boots I’ve ever own they are perfect
Worth the price for great quality and comfort. Best boots that I've ever owned. Like using the side zipper to quickly put off
Had them for 3 months and they still look new i would recommend
Wore these boots for a month and the zipper has already failed. I had reservations about these boots with yhe zipper but they were comfortable. The separation will move up the zipper making it difficult to unzip. I will give this brand a 2nd chance. If they fail again I will go to another brand
I bought these boots approximately 10-11 months ago. The first month they were nice and comfortable, warm for the winter and pretty dry from the snow. I'm in the mechanics field and am on my feet all day. After approximately 4-5 months my feet and back could not take all day in them, checked and found the insoles were worn out. I put in some new ones with better arch support, that helped. Now last week I noticed a hole in the leather. And the soles are almost worn out already. For 180.00 dollars I would hope to get more then a year out of them, figured I'd try irish setters, but have found they too hav
e let me down. Then looked up the warranty on this web site and it says 6 months for work boots.Kinda looks like they know there poor quality with only offering a 6 month warranty.
I loved this boots, then right at 6 months when the warranty expired they started falling apart. I had to show goo the right toe back together in 3 spots last week and now the heels on both boots look to be crumbling.
I bought the Irishsetter steel toed woman boots. I was concerned as I have had both of my knees replaced. My knees dont like some boots. My knees love my boots!! Am stuck on Red Wings from now on! Have tried lots of work boots and these win hands down! Love my boots!!
I bought these boots for working in a UPS warehouse prior to the start of winter in ND. The held up pretty reasonably, keeping my feet dry and warm in the sub zero conditions. My only gripe is that they seem to wear out slightly faster than any other pair of boots I've worn.
Not happy with the boots. Thought it might be the break in period but its not.
$200 bucks wasted. Would love to get my money back
Great boot !! I wear these boots about 12 to 16 hours a day. Boots are great, insole are junk. Had to throw out the insoles out after 3 weeks. I wish they had better insoles. Now I guess I now why they were pushing me to spend extra money for upgraded insoles.
I will start off by saying these are the most comfortable footwear I have owned. I wear them for work, and they are the first choice of footwear for any other occasion because off how comfortable they are. I literally have worn them every day since I have purchased them. However the quality is lacking, especially with the zipper, which appealed to me do the convenience of fast on and off. On one boot the stitching on the zipper started undoing within the first 3-4 months. The other boot the zipper has failed and is no longer functional after about 8 months. There is also additional stitching and sole cracking at this point. I have had these boots for about 9 months. I work in agriculture and these boots have worked great for long days in the shop, the tractor, or in muddy fields. I was hoping to get more time out of them then a short 9 months.
I BOUGHT THIS BOOT TWO MONTHS AGO AND I LOVE IT. LIKE THE PRODUCT
This is my second kasota boot, as the first one was defected with a indented spot inside grinding against my ankle. This pair is a different model as I figured I would try the metatarsal guard since I needed to exchange and wait for the order on either pair anyway.
Well first off the color is nothing like pictured, it shows a dark brown, meanwhile the ones I received are very very light brown, more to the light khaki color. (Picture on the box of these boots still shows the darker color so very misleading and not what I like or wanted) Then the metatarsal guard, great idea but nothing thought about comfort, like other companies put a foam comfort layer so you dont get stabbed by the plastic end as you walk, since this metgaurd doesnt even come as high to the 3rd shoe lace hole.
Then the midsole which has alot of tiny air bubble holes going around on both boots. (first pair did not have this) Will it effect longevity, I dont know but time will tell.
Unfortinitly I will just deal with it since I cant wait any longer for my work boots. I will not be going through the hassle of going to the store again, ordering another pair since my size of what i like is never in stock, and then returning in a week or two to pick them up. Waste of time and gas after multiple trips since it's not local to me.
I buy a pair of boots every year for my job, and next year I think I will be trying a different brand unfortunately...
Bought these and they are ok. Not suited for work around sparks because the material around the tongue gets ate up. The metgaurd will rub the top side of your arch while being broken in.
I'm from Bismarck ND. Have had these boots over a year. Most of my boots last around 6 to 8 months. From 105 degrees to -55 windchill 55 to 60 hours a week these boots are tough as fu**. My pair look terrible and they should but everything is still there plus the zippers didn't fail. Buying a new pair tomorrow from Runnings. I'm a small to large gas or diesel technician.
I’ve been wearing these boots now for about 4 months and comfort and traction is great.im on my feet 12-14 hours a day at work, But now the met guard is digging into the top of my feet to the point that I don’t want to wear them.
It has taken me 5 years and 5 different pairs/brands to find my favorite. These are incredible. Lightweight, comfortable and actually look nice! these are for Work only, as I am not a hunter.
They aren’t that heavy. I love the toe box and wrap on them. Keep my feet dry on snowy roofs, and not too hot in boiler rooms.
I’m 6 months in and thease boots have had it!! I’m
On my feet 8-10 hours a day doing commercial hvac. Zipper lasted longer than I thought ones broken and the other is still holding in there but you tell the boot is just worn out .. and I have broken two shoe string clasp. Comfortable or broken in?? Good luck !
I work underground in a coal mine. I no longer work on the wet and muddy longwall. Bid onto a shuttle car operator job, so I was looking for something comfortable. I went with these because I'm no longer in knee deep mud/water for 8-12 hours a day. These are light, comfortable and great for my current job position. The meta-guard is absolutely 100%, without a doubt a foot saver!!!. Last night we had to knock down a solid block wall. A solid cinder block landed on top of my foot from about 5-6 ft high at about 3 hours into a 12 hour shift...seriously thought I broke my foot...a little sore and hobbling around, I finished my 12 hour shift....Upon reaching the surface/bath house, I took my boot off expecting to be bruised and swollen....To my surprise there was not even a mark!!!!.... Mind you , my foot is sore..but your boot saved my foot from being broken and a trip to emergency room...THANK YOU for making a exceptional boot that is comfortable, light, a a sheer joy to wear daily....best light weight, hiking style, work boot I've ever owned...they leak a touch on the occasional wet area, or I woulda gave 5 stars.......would buy again. Highly recommend
Bought back in October of 18 and had them 4 months before the zipper ripped out from the clothe it attaches to mostly drive in them
I have had these boots around two months I was a window installer then moved to land survey so these boots were not worked hard and I only wear them for work. Out of the box they were super comfortable and I fell in love with how flexible they were. My opinion changed very fast when I noticed my sole is already delaminating and pealing around the edge I wish I had read some reviews before hand because it looks like I'm not the only one. I would have expected more from the name and price point of the boots. All the comfort in the world doesn't matter if the boots can't last in mild work conditions. Again. I have had these boots 2 MONTHS!!!
Overall I don't mind the boot. I have found the sole to be very slippery with a little bit of snow. I don't know if it's because the sole was cold or what but we had a dusting of snow and walked into the garage and just about fell to the floor. The insole is extremely thin which I was really surprised about coming from red wing. I don't hate the boot, but my wolverine boots are way more comfortable!
These only have a 6 month warranty. I bought them in the spring and only wore them for a few months before they were just too warm and I switched to a safety toed shoe for the summer. Got them out this fall once temps dipped back down. Low and behold they have separated at a seam in the sole. Guess what it’s past the 6 month mark. Looking over these just before leaving this review and the soles are chunking out across the bottom as well.
I’ll admit they are... were comfortable and once I changed the insoles are still comfortable as I’m on my feet about 12 hrs/shift 4 days a week.
I just feel that for the selling price these need to last much longer and I haven’t gotten any assistance out of Irish Setter. I do not recommend and won’t buy these again or any Irish Setter work boot.
Wear these in all different environments and haven’t had any problems but did have a issue on the side stitching that red wing honored in NJ but not a overall fan but they work.
I wear these boots in mud and concrete all day as a union carpenter and the sole actually broke down on the inside and its like walking on a big rock stuck inside your boot. I have gotten excellent customer service on this issue and I will try another pair of the same boot as they are very comfortable and tough. Maybe its just a fluke defect in that one particular pair I bought . Will try again and give you an update.
I got a wide fit which was great with nice toe room. The waterproof is great.
I have literally stood in standing water and have dry feet. But, I have to walk on uneven terrain and I can feel every bump, rock , stick, whatever.
These boots were great for the first few weeks. Now they're super uncomfortable and are hurting my feet, rubbing against the side of my big toes and leaving calluses. I Have to have comfortable shoes, I'm on my feet ALL day. I've only had these boots for a month and a half!
Very Very Comfortable!!!. Also very Durable. I have mine for 5 months now and they are still amazing with no wear. I average 8000 to 14000 steps a day on concrete and mud.
Very comfortable boot, well built. I work in corrections and on my feet most of the day. So far, these seem to be holding up fairly well. Love that they are waterproof, I would reccomend to anyone.
Work construction 12 hours a day and these were comfortable from day one. 4 months of 5 days a week use and they are holding up well and can be worn all day and I have never had sore feet.
There is a large seam on the inside of the tongue that digs into my ankle bone.
I love this boot. I've had it for almost a month now and I have zero complaints. Yeah the boot isn't true to my regular size of 13 so I went to 12 but that 12 fits perfect. Works can't describe how I appreciate this boot. Waterproof statement or resistance is true. I've gone through water and snow and haven't had an issue. Even though they are uninsulated, I notice no drafts or cold feet in the ND winter here coming. Great boot.
i finally bit the bullet and paid a little extra for red wings..ive owned several pairs of boots an this pair trumps them all !
