The Hopkins features:
I’ve had it for a week and it seems like I need to size down even more than I already have. I wear a 10.5 and got these in a 9 and felt good initially but now it feels like I can go down to like an 8. Makes these hard to wear
Ive had this boot a couple months now. Theyve kept me dry and comfy. Only thing is the outer sole is starting to separate from the upper just barely.
I purchased a pair of these boots about 8 years ago when working in the USA on a whim while I was in a Red Wing store. While I don't work in construction, I do wear these boots almost every day and apart from having to replace the insoles after about 6 years and the coating on the padded cuff peeling off about a year ago (but the cuff itself is fine) they haven't given me any problems.
The soles are only now starting to show the smallest amount of wear, but I reckon they are good for at least another 5 or 6 years.
They are so comfortable I wear them pretty much every day to the office and I actually prefer them to my 'proper' Red Wings
Great all around boot. No longer out in the field, but have worn red wing for 25 years. These boots are great! I use them around my property all year round. Red Wing heritage for the office, Vasque for hiking/camping, and Irish Setter for working. These products are simply the best!
I bought these over three years ago and have not been more happy about a pair of boots. I’m struggling to find a replacement because I’m actually attached to these boots now. I’m afraid I won’t have the same experience again. The only issues I’ve had are them not being waterproof and having to replace inserts because the boot is outlasting the inserts. I use these as my primary shoe and work boots. I work in the power industry, sometimes in remote locations.
I bought these for my husband over 3 years ago. The first thing my husband raved about was how comfortable they are. We now know how extremely durable they are too. They have taken a beating and are still in use to this day. They followed my husband from the Airport where he was a ramp lead (COVID killed that job), to a diesel mechanic shop. These boots have been walked on between hundred plus degree and sub freezing blacktop at the airport, through a couple hundred degree belly of multiple planes per day (yeah, they get that hot under there in the Summer in the South), the rain and puddles that accompany it, post hurricane clean up, oil slicks in the mechanic shop, welding work on the trucks, these things have been to hell and back and they are still in one piece. Only recently did a small hole show up in the sole of his right boot. Everything else on this boot is still in great working order. They are now dark and dingy, but still every bit waterproof (at least his left one is still, his right upper still is but water seeps through the newly open hole in the sole of his right boot) and I highly recommend these. Before I bought these for my husband, he was going through 2-3 pairs of cheap boots per year costing us between $100 and $150 per year. That amount totalled the same amount as 1 pair of these which have lasted over 3 years....yeah, these are worth EVERY penny! Still debating on whether to send these out for repair with Red Wing or to purchase another pair.
I bought my first pair of Hopkins well over 5 years ago - probably much longer. The second pair is less than 5 years old, and I bought them only because the first pair were too worn to wear to a white collar job. True. But still totally comfortable and the heels barely worn - at the time. Since then, the older pair are my work boots. I spend summers pounding shovels with these boots and digging holes. Check out the soles in the photos. I was barely able to remove any sole after all these years and all that work. Still entirely useable except for roughed up look. The second pair is just starting to loose its new shoe look after many years of indoor and around town use. If it weren't for all the other Redwing and Irish Setter styles to choose from my next pair would be the Hopkins again.
I do all of my own yard work and home repairs and general maintenance in all weather. These were comfortable from day one and are 100% waterproof w/ great stable
traction. First pair of Red Wing shoes I have owned. Great brand!
A great investment, I'm delighted that I remember to shop at Red Wind Store for a pair of safety shoes, after wasting time at the big box discount stores, which did not have the product or service that I needed. Was a little tough breaking them in, but after that, a great pair of boots, which I will enjoy for a lifetime. Thanks Red Wing
They aren’t very waterproof like they said it was.
I have owned these boots for 2 years now. I worked as a laborer for a Highway Construction Company pouring concrete, kicking forms into place, and walking one asphalt >150°F. They kept me comfortable and safety in all these situations. I work as Field Engineer now and i am on my feet for 8hrs walking around the jobsite. As a avid outdoorsman I have also wore these boots hunting and fishing many times. They kept me dry and comfortable hunting turkeys in the Spring and Deer from a stand in the Fall. I have gotten them wet fishing and the leather kept me dry. I would recommend these boots to anyone looking for a versatile boot you can wear anywhere.
Bought these boots to do HVAC, holding up real well and comfortable.
Glad i the right boots for the right job kinda hard on my toes when i kneel but thats just the steel toe
This product has given the protection needed for my crew to work up on the hills, removing fire debris. Out of approx. 80 boots we have purchase only once one pair was needed to be replaced.
I bought these last month- comfortable at first but the boots lasted two weeks before they burnt out. Large hole in the toe already- like flat tires on my feet. usually boots will last me 4-6 months for work. this one 30 days.
I did buy this boot because redwings did not make my previous pair anymore. 7 years great boots, but falling apart. They recommend these, but not happy with them.
Excellent quality and extremely comfortable. Holding up very well.
I will be only wearing Hopkins, because of the quality and the feeling
Love the boots. Just wish i had the tuff toe applied professionally. It looks like someone spilled fudge on my toes
I purchased this pair of boots 2 months ago and am totally satisfied with it. Perfect grip. The water proof is 100% guaranteed. First I felt a bit heavy though it didn't take time fr me to get used to it.

I got me a pair a Red Wing Boots for my birthday. What an awesome gift !! Well made, comes with surface treatment on the leather, an aluminum toe with a nice pull strap above the heel that makes taking off the boots a breeze. The beautiful color of the leather adds style to the comfort. This boot is perfect for the person who is not in the trades. It can be worn year round (not insulated) just add wool socks during winter for long periods of outside exposure.
I bought them two months ago comfortable warm shoe but the tan gets dirty so fast
Well this will be my second time writing this as I went to add pictures and it just erased it all so here we go again. I’ve had these boots for about 2 years now but the problem started after I had them about 4 months. I was work like any other day when I walked thru this puddle n immediately my foot was SOAKED. I knew these were waterproof so what the heck? The puddle wasn’t even quite ankle high. Come to find out that after just 4 month the boot was separating from the sole some how. Keep In mind I never went back to the red wing store. it was 45min away each way. But I just assumed I’d be told “oh well” and that it’s been 4 months n blah blah blah. Been through it before. I was sure I’d be told it was my fault, user error, I stepped on something (i didn’t) or along them lines so they wouldn’t have to deal with it. 4 months was way too soon for that nonsense. I still wear them for the simple fact I paid $200 for them. It was a huge let down after hearing so many good things. Afraid to try another pair because I don’t have money like that. I’ll leave some pictures of the hole so u can see exactly how big it is.
I bought these 2 months ago and all it has gotten me was blisters everyday. For such an expensive boot, I was expecting more comfort.
Definitely recommend these boots. Just remember they’re insulated and you’ll be good. Best boots I’ve ever had!!!
These are my go to bootsive bought this style the last few times I've needed boots
Overall Pleased with the boot. The tab on the heel ripped during the first week, hoping that the rest of the boot holds up a little better. If it does, I will be very pleased with the purchase.
Good leather good color just needs to be lighter and more flexible.
These are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned! Really happy with this purchase.
got these for christmas and am super happy with them. great in warm and cold conditions for working. I've held nothing back with these boots and they've held up great. these will definitly last me a while.
I bought these two years ago and use them everyday for work. The exterior of the shoe is very nice and the interior sole is so comfortable even after all this time. I work in a warehouse and these boots don't slip at all.
Great shoes for everyday hunting. I suggest everyone to have a pair
I bought these boots 3 month ago and I expected better quality. The toe is already splitting and the sole is starting to separate. I have owned other brands of boots that were half the price of these and they lasted me over a year.
I'd rate this boot as high as possible and recommend it to everyone if the sides of the boot didn't blow out, adding a stitched sole would solve this problem and make it the perfect boot I'd buy for life. I love your products and hope to see this taken into consideration thank you.
Once I sow those boots I fall in love with them, beautiful and highly detailed finish. Unfortunately, I had to return them because peace of leather inside the boots was rubbing against my ankles and it was kinda painful after couple hours... I don't really get it how company like Red Wing made such a mistake. At least seller at the Red Wing store gave me my money back no problem and he said a lot of guys complain about it... so do yourself a favour and don't buy these beautiful pair of boots... :/
I've had the same pair of these for over 3 years and couldn't ask for a better boot. I wear them everyday at work, they're So comfortable, and good looking!!! I'm writing this review as I order another pair!!!
I have waited two years to write this review. These boots are still standing after being used for hiking, motorcycle riding, fire mitigation(running a chainsaw in CO), various construction and home projects, daily use, and just this week being bitten by a pit bull. If I hadn't had these on my foot would have been mangled but instead I only suffered a bruise. I decided to write this review because through all this the boots have stayed strong, protected my feet, and kept me dry. I am very impressed with the quality and comfort of these boots and after this pair sees its final day I will replace them with another. I will always buy Red Wing.
these work boots were the most comfortable fit of all. out of the box.
their for motorcycle riding and i feel they are very substancial for the task
thanks red wing.
Bought these boots at a red wing store about 2 months ago. Boots are not at all waterproof, first puddle they saw soaked right through. No point using them in the snow. The slightest scuff tears apart the toe, insulation doesn't work when boots are soaked but they are slip resistant for the most part. Extremely disappointed with the boots but you get what you pay for I guess.
This is an excellent boot. The build quality and the color of the leather are both top notch. I have been wearing the 8" version of this boot for several years, day in and out working as an electrician and everywhere in between, really a perfect boot for year round wear. I wish I could find the 8" version still I hope they haven't stopped making them, HINT HINT Irish Setter! This is a great boot but I prefer the 8" version. 5 stars for the 8" version.
Very good work boot for the price. Water resistant holds up well but does need to be re applied just like any other boot. Very comfortable
I wanted a good work boot for outdoors labor and this was my first pair of Red Wing - Irish Setter brands. I would have never guessed these were not part of the high end line. They broke in within about 5 hours of wear... incredibly comfortable and look great. I now wear them as my casual cold-weather shoe as well. If you're going to be on your feet and outside... this is the choice to make.
Everyone was telling me about Redwing boots and I got to admit solid boot for everyday working.
I’ve had it for a week and it seems like I need to size down even more than I already have. I wear a 10.5 and got these in a 9 and felt good initially but now it feels like I can go down to like an 8. Makes these hard to wear
