Great jacket really warm

Fabric holding the zipper track ripped after the 3rd wear.

5'9" 210 lbs. XXL. Fits loosely. Would like it to be a bit longer but other than that, top notch gear. This hoodie has some heft to it.

We own our own company, and buy these for all the workers. The are great! The jackets are warm, shield the rain, they can layer them under their winter coats. The jackets wash up well, the zippers are wonderful! Only buy Carhartt for work and play!

The top of the zipper ends with fabric that tends to hit your face when turning your head. Otherwise, as always, an excellent product, I have worn your clothing for many years and have always been satisfied with your products.

this has to be the BEST hooded sweatshirt i have ever owned. I will say they run a little big, as I normally wear a 2X but eventually went down to an XL.<br /><br />An i never give anything 5 stars..this gets it.

I've been buying these for many years. I just purchased another, and they have changed. The outer material seems different, like its going to start pilling. The loose fit isn't really any different than the way they've been fitting with previous purchases before loose fit was an option. The most prominent issue I have, is there is now a narrow flap behind the right side of the zipper, that goes all the way from bottom to top. Problem is that it stiffens the zipper part of the jacket, and it sticks up and rubs on my jaw. I do like the flaps in front of the pockets though. It should help prevent the issue with everything constantly falling out of the pockets.

I was excited to receive this jacket since friends of mine have Carhartt jackets and they really like them, but unfortunately this wasn't the jacket for me and I returned it. It had a nice weight to it but was a little stiff and the "Loose" fit was way too big and loose for my taste. However the quality looked good and it appeared that it would be a long lasting jacket. I ended up finding the "Rockland" jacket in a local store and it fit much better and it had the Sherpa lining which I prefer.

It is October 8th it is 25 degrees Fahrenheit,i was outside for 30 minutes with a short sleeve shirt and my new Carhartt hooded sweatshirt, i stayed nice and warm,all I was doing was feeding birds and squirrels so not much movement. I really like it,would buy it again.keep up the good work.

Awesome hoodie. I usually wear a medium but these run big so I had to return for a small but returns are simple with this company.

I was expecting it to be a little softer on the inside but other than that it's good quality and I really like it. I bought a size small in this, I'm usually a size medium in women's, and it fits a little bit big but that's what I was hoping for. It gets pretty warm when you need it to but it doesn't get too hot when you don't want it to.

Perfect jacket for those transitional seasons. Wore it to my niece’s softball game in early April. Weather went from 50 degrees to 37 degrees with a light drizzle. The kids were miserable, but I was warm and dry. The size runs a little large. As it should. Its the most comfortable jacket I own.

We love love love our jackets. These were given to us by a friend of ours and in return, we purchased one for each of them so they would quit looking at us with envy! Now, everyone is happy! I wear mine to even feed the horses in the rain and have remained very dry. Quality is exceptional as is all Carhartt products.

It's comfortable, it fits, I like the feel, but having worn it for a couple weeks it is pilling. My last similar carhartt didn't pill, so I am a little disappointed.

If you are looking for a replacement for your older model Rain Defender Sweatshirt, this isn't it. You'll not find anything as high of quality from Carharrt since they changed manufacturers. It's an OK zip sweat, just not the higher Rain Defender quality as in years past.

Don't like the revised pocket flaps...zipper goes to far up..digs into your neck...sticking is not as tight..I have many of your sweat hood for over 12 years old including 2 rain defender...I don't see this holding up to long..your product has deteriorated......

A whole lot better than my every day hoodies, plus this is rain resistant for the most part; great full zipped hoodie!

The hoodie itself is very well made. Two annoyances that drive crazy are the small, random pocket in the right side, main pocket and the very tall collar that rubs my neck. Would I buy another? Yes! Very comfortable and warm.

Carhartt always provides a great product and this was no exception.

Size runs big- usually an XL but L is plenty- 6’2 and 195. Very warm- hoodie is big and goes over cap easily. Pockets could be a bit larger. I wear it in “coat conditions” here in SW IL. Repels light rain. Appears it will last a long time and is worth the money. I appreciate that Carhartt has not “cheapened-up” their products.

Tall sizes fit great length wise...taller not wider which is what I needed

Great hoodie. Loose fir is great and not so baggy that I can wear it under my parka in subzero weather. I can work outside for hours just wearing this jacket in weather down to 35-40 degrees. Easily one of my favorites and pretty good deal for the money.

There has been some changes to the rain defender that I really don’t care for. The zipper is the most annoying . The right side of the zipper won’t lay down and constantly rubs your neck when not zipped completely.

Am disappointed on the hood , does not seem to be as thick as jacket. The right hand pocket has a small inner pocket that serves no purpose but to get into the way of using the pocket for your hands

I’m 5’11” 172 lbs.<br />I have kinda long arms or maybe just big shoulders <br />So; I bought the TALL version of a Large .<br />The lengths ( sleeves and waist are perfect: I ride motorcycles and even when bent over the bike : my wrists and lower back stay covered)<br /> - I almost want to get a MEDIUM tall of this jacket. I’d like it to have it be a wee more form fitting ( in the stomach ) so I could get another coat atop it… but that’s just me …<br /><br />I love it’s warmth , thickness, liner and looks.<br />My only very small complaint is ; after very gently use of hanging the jacket by it’s pretty stout hanging loop in the neck —- the stitching is prematurely starting to give - as in - it will be pulled out / no longer functional soon. Might try and stitch it back when that happens.<br /><br />Otherwise - I’d grade this as the best hoodie on the market

I really really like it, but I measured according to the size chart and it’s still huge. I kind of wanted a cute, well fitting zip-up to wear out but I absolutely swim in it. If you order it big, know can be super uncomfortable to sit down when it bends and folds up, but I still like it and will wear it for yard work instead.

All in all a wonderful coat. Warm dry and fits well. My only real complaint is that the pocket covers should either have buttons or zippers to close the pocket. I work at a lumber mill and I have to dump out the pockets twice a day, saw dust is one of the most annoying aspects of the job.

Perfect fit and perfect warmth, have many other Carhartt products and have yet to find anything I've been dissatisfied with. Highly recommend, it's listed as midweight but has a good bit of heft to it. Way heavier than the heavyweight zip up that I also own. Should last several years and be plenty warm enough for West Virginia winters.

This is a great hoodie for indoor/outdoor use! For reference, I occasionally perform various tasks that have me outdoors for 8 hours.<br /><br />I've worn it for a couple of months now, and I have never felt cold (even when it gets down in the teens). This has replaced my regular winter/snow coat.<br /><br />The rain protection still works really well.<br /><br />If you prefer a more fitted hoodie go a size down (if you get your regular size it is easier to layer though).<br /><br />I highly recommend this hoodie/jacket.

So disappointed they changed the fabric on this sweatshirt. My previous one is about eight years old and other than being obviously faded from washing it is still holding up just fine and the fabric is still smooth. I bought this replacement recently so I would have a cleaner looking sweatshirt and within weeks the entire front of the sweatshirt is pilled. I can’t believe how fast the fabric is breaking down and pilling up into little balls. It looks Horrible. Oh I can only imagine within a year it’s going to have holes in it. I wish they never change the design. I went back to wearing the old one again.

I am 6‘1“ tall and weigh 175 pounds and my medium size was a bit large in the body yet short in the arms and the hood did not come forward enough for my liking so I returned it.

Very pleased with this product. As advertised, it is midweight. I have not tried it out in a heavy rain, but it does offer good protection in a light rain. I have worn it in strong winds and it does offer good wind protection. I like the loose fit and it is very comfortable. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Love it! I'm an aquarist so i get splashed a lot. Keeps me warm and dry in the aquarium and out on the boat. Inside pocket needs to be slightly wider and deeper to accommodate a smart phone in a waterproof case. Love the flaps on the hand warmer pockets.

We love these jackets we use them for our business we have them embroidered with our company logo. We were told by our local dealer we could not get these until next March i went on your web site and had them here in 3 days ?

Good quality sweater and great company however my only complaint is that the sizing is a bit too big. I normally go a size up for a more “baggy” fit but this is almost a size too big. I recommend this sweater but I would order almost “true to size” fit as they run big.

I received my sweatshirt last week. I thought it would take a long time to get it but waited only 10 days. Great item. Was out in the rain today and I was dry and warm all day with only a t-shirt on underneath. As far as fit goes... I'm 5" 11, 190-- I usually wear xlarge but they are a little loose but large is too small. Chest is 43, waist is 35 so I got a medium after reading many reviews saying these run very large. The medium is perfect with room to spare. Shoulder seams are at my shoulders, sleeves are slightly long and I could gain 20 lbs and it would still fit. Definitely great for underlayers. I couldn't be more pleased with this sweatshirt. BTW. The little pocket inside the handwarmer pocket ,you might want to sew it closed but the pockets are deep and handy.

I am 5'9", 31" waist and 39" chest. The medium fits great across the shoulders and chest but sleeves are too long and midsection is too loose or baggy. I am going to order a small and see if that fits.

I like loose-fitting sweatshirts and this one fits the bill perfectly. As an added benefit, it is also water-repellent for those days when it starts to rain or even snow. Since it is loose-fitting I can layer underneath if it is cold.

I have owned carhartt hoodies in the past and they are not only the best and the warmest but they also so durable and last a long time. This new version of their thermal hoodie is outstanding. I use it now during this winter and i love it. Its outstanding and warm. I highly recommend it. Just keep in mind it fits about one size larger. So if you are an XL normally, then order a Large and it should be still big but just right.

This is a great hoody for those raw winter days here in Maine. The hood, thermal insolation and rain block are just what I need for woods work, snow removal and garden chores during the cold months. The pockets a great. I used to steal my husband's all the time, until he bought me my own.<br /><br /> My only criticism is that Carhartt doesn't make this in a women's cut, so it has a bulkier fit than I'd prefer. But I'd rather be warm and have flexibility than look stylish on my back 40.

It was thick which was nice, but huge. I ordered a same size rain defender Paxton hoodie and this was like a size or two larger. I ended up returning it. Much more similar to a coat than a hoodie.

I absolutely love my new Carhartt hoodie. Which I took heavy insulated hoodie very comfortable great pockets great Hood as a matter of fact it really keeps the wind at your back. <br />I wish I had bought one of these years ago.

My husband has Carhartt sweatshirt, size large, that he likes a lot. I decided to get him a second one and ordered the same size which turned out to be way too big. I ordered another in a size down, and it, too, was too big for him. Since we have to pay return shipping, I do not plan to order another. Have you changed your sizing measurements recently?

Great jacket. Very comfortable. Easy to throw on and get out the door or sit around a camp in.

I really like the jacket. The only thing I don’t like is the color - when I looked at the color sample on the computer the color shade ended up looking different when the jacket arrived. I gave a 4 star only because the color was not what I thought it would be, otherwise I would’ve given it a 5 star rating. The jacket is really warm and comfortable.

I bought this hoodie thinking it may not be the best, I was worried it may be too hot or not really resist the rain. Let me tell you this jacket it awesome. It's plenty warm but not overwhelming and after a heavy rain yesterday it held up. I will get this in one or two more colors.

Have had this sweatshirt for about 3 weeks. Handled light rain and blocked 35 MPH winds without any problems. Ran a bit large and had to order one size smaller.

Better to run large in order to accomodate under clothing! More colors should be offered

Husband lives in it, I’ve also been seeing more on guys at work. Truly a great hoodie, warm, waterproof and durable.

I loved it I wish I could afford another one I was at work and it got burned on the front witch really upset me if I wasn't out of work now I would buy one mybe next year

WAY TO BIG!! NOT TRUE SIZE!! Quality seems ok by sizing is all wrong.

Son really likes the jacket. Well-made and warm. Got adult small for 11 year old who wears XL/XXL or 14-16 in boys’ clothes sizes. Runs big on him, but he can grow into it. Seems slightly big for adult small though. Recommended

I bought one for each of my sons. They both love the jacket. Rain just beads up and doesn't soak in. Mid weight, is perfect for Virginia winter temps. Would recommend and will purchase again.

This sweatshirts is a little roomy so if you don’t plan to wear it over a few layers consider going down a size. I liked this product so much I bought my FIL and BIL each one. This is by far the most comfortable and versatile sweatshirt I have owned. I live in a cold, wet climate and wear only a T-shirt underneath most of the time. The moisture protection is great too! I never got wet even with snow covering and then melting on the material while snow blowing several driveways. I told the wife I need a spare in case they are discontinued.

Zippers are too fragile. Break easily when washed. Need Heavyweight but could not find on your site

Can only comment on sizing and general quality, hoping to help others.<br /><br />I wear a "Medium" all day; I'm 5'10" 175 lbs and wear a 38R off the rack, no mods. And the Medium in this jacket was just a size too big large on me in every way (length on body, width of shoulders, etc.)<br /><br />I was hoping the sleeves wouldn't be too short on a Small, and they are not, it fits like I'd expect a Medium to fit me. It could be argued that this is sized to allow layering (say a pullover hoodie underneath) so you may want to consider that.<br /><br />Return system was very easy to use and Carharrt ships quick. Ink Green color is very nice/unique.

Great product. I was given one of these hoodies (in red) several years ago after it had been used for a while, and I’ve been very happy with it. So I ordered one in gray to have a second one. These are a nice, lined sweatshirt that I use for walking outdoors and trips to the store. I’m retired, so the amount of heavy work I do in them isn’t a lot, so can’t speak to durability other than the one I’ve worn for a long time is the best jacket I own.

Looks great in the iron ore color, keeps really warm and stays dry, just a little wide in the shoulders. the extra small pocket on the right side is super handy, still getting used to the flipped entry cuff on the pockets but does keep things from falling out so easily. Have already recommended it to a friend and would buy again.

I've had 3 similar jackets (Number J149BLK ) that were perfect. I wore them everyday at work for over 10 years during cold weather and the zippers never failed and they were comfortable, warm and rugged. I recently went to a local retailer and thought I had the same jacket, but when I got home and flipped the hood up, it was so deep it flopped down over my forehead and eyes blocking my vision. I took it back and fortunately they had a jacket (number 100632 024) that was identical to my previous ones. It wasn't black like I wanted, but the hood fit properly. I can't believe other customers aren't displeased with the deep hood style on the 104078 001 jacket.

I'm a 41 year old man who has worked construction and industrial maintenance my entire career. I have had every hoodie tou can imagine, including numerous carhartts. This is by far my favorite. Thick , durable, comfortable, and pockets that actually keep things in them. 10/10 would recommend.

Zipper pull broke off after the fifth wash and had to take it to the dry cleaners to replace the zipper. No other issues with the sweatshirt.

My husband needed the canopy green for work. I didn't see it listed so I thought it was the same as the Ink Green but it's not. I was disappointed that the actual Carhartt site didn't have all the colors available.

I bought this last year around this time, (November). I work outside in Chicago, so our winters can be pretty brutal. I paired this with some insulated Overalls and i gotta say, I didnt even need a jacket. this sweater held me over. Will definitely buy again.

Works great for rainy cold days

Quality-wise I say excellent but the size is this a bit too big my arm length is perfect but the stomach or chest area is too large I'm guessing that everybody who is six foot seven are overweight. It should come up with a e unique size for tall people.

This is second one I've had, first one lasted 10 years. <br />Someone stole it. Great outerwear.

My husband is super hard to fit. He takes at least a 38 inch sleeve length. He is a working man so he needs well made clothes designed for hard work. This zip front hoodie in tall fits him better than any outer wear he’s ever had. Of course, I will not dry it in the dryer. The fact that it is water resistant is a triple bonus. It was worth the cost to find something that will fit and last several years.

This would be a five star product if the right side pocket didn’t interfere with trying to get your hand in the jacket especially if you Try to put something in your pocket in a hurry there is a secondary inside pocket someone had a good idea But did not follow through for functionality!!

I am replacing an old jacket very similar to this for my husband for his birthday. The first one has to be 15 years old and is old and faded but still warm. I had hoped to find another Carhartt jacket like it and I did. He is very pleased esp that it is rain rapellant and heavy enough to be worn on our cold southern winter days instead of a cold windy day like he grew up with in Illinois that needed a big bulky coat. He is a former retired commercial construction worker so he loves Carhartt clothes! Yesterday was his, 78th birthday!
