I take a large, but is was far too large. Fit like an XL. So, I ordered a medium, but the sleeves still cover my hands. When you say relaxed fit, you mean it to the extreme. I don’t dare order a small. Sleeve length would be most appropriate for an ape. Otherwise, a nice shirt.

the large was snug returned it and ordered x-large seemed to be too loose but after a couple of washes the x-large will be wearable

Bought two as a gift for my husband. He says the shirts fit really well. The fabric is tough but feels good on the skin. The left chest pocket has two smaller pockets on it that are perfect for a small note pad and pen, or for tucking sunglasses into. Excellent stitching.

These are decent. I wore these to the gym. The range of motion is good. Flexible. 6ft and 200lbs. For work, I went with a large. If you were going for more aesthetics and less function, I would consider a medium.

This is a great mid-weight canvas shirt. Tough enough to be a good shirt for cool-weather hiking through brush. It runs large. I’m 6’3”, 195 lbs, and a medium fits great - still plenty room to move and sleeves are enough to cover long arms.

Didn't have my size at my local store but glad I drove out to the west side, probably wouldn't have bought it if I didn't see it there. I also got a couple pairs of the Rugged Flex Relaxed Fit Canvas Work Pants. Awesome!

Love these shirts. The weight is just right. I’ve been looking for a work shirt with a heavier fabric–this is substantial but not too heavy. Looks and feels great every time I put one on. I really like the pockets as well. (Almost too nice to work in!) I am 5’ 5.5”, 140 lbs and ordered a small. It fits me like a medium and that works for me, and there is comforatable room for a long sleeve t-shirt for cooler working. I’m going to give it 5 stars for durability assuming it wears well like Carhartt"s other products.

Overall - Poor:<br />1 - material changed from the like style/model Carhartt work shirt I previously owned. Previously 100% cotton. Replacement includes a 2% blend of spandex. While not much it changes the look and feel of the shirt. Some may like that - I do not.<br />2 - Size is bad and way off/ large. I used the size label in my old shirt to order my replacement. Its not even close - greatly oversized - too large compared to my old shirt. What have you done? How can it be so different?
The sleeves are too long. Not impressed, for what you are charging for this shirt the quality should be better.

Solid and presentable work shirt for a fair price. I bought one in blue, liked it, and quickly bought another since these things often go out of production. I am 6-1, 195 lbs and bought a large. Fits well in a slightly "modern" way. A small amount of shrinkage in the wash, mostly in the sleeve length. If you stick to cold water and hang dry it likely will not change much from new due to the synthetic blend. If you're between L and XL you could probably get an XL and shrink it a little with hot/hot.

The Navy and Gravel (gray) look outstanding on my husband. Thank you for making the Navy actually "Navy" instead of something more like royal blue or just dark blue. These shirts wash well and so far have held their color no matter how I wash them, often in hot or warm instead of cold. Only two improvements - and to the web site NOT the shirts lol. One, I would love to see a photo taken outside in daylight for the color "Oxblood". I'm hesitating to order thinking it might lean more toward "brick" than "wine". The name seems to have changed from something like "Terra Cotta", which had too much orange for my husband. I'm looking for something more like "Cabernet". And two, I would love to get this same shirt in a color like "Sage" or "Green Sea" (not turquoise, not military olive).

Not 100% cotton any more. Looks like Carhartt is cutting costs by making their clothes with plastic(polyester). These shirts used to be so great, now they are just crappy cotton/poly blend. Super sad they made this decision. Guess I'll have to find another company that makes 100% cotton shirts.

Great work shirt so far, used for forestry surveying work in thick understory hardwoods to protect myself from scratches and from the sun. Fits true to size, relaxed fit allows more movement and a bit more air circulation/breathability. A bit hot, but worth the sacrifice for the protection you get. Seems fairly durable, will see by the end of season how it holds up.

Great shirt! But I do not like pockets without flap-closures (stuff falls out too easily with patch pockets). The first shirt I got from you has flap-closure pockets. Other than that, I am glad you still make mostly-cotton shirts: cooler in summer, warmer in winter, just more comfortable all around. Poly shirts are just plain uncomfortable.

I ordered two of these shirts for christmas presents. The blue one came with a bad button hole. All wadded up and not sewn. Like the sewing machine thread got all tangled up. Other than that they are the same great shirts I am used to.

I am very disappointed in these shirts. Says on the label that the relaxed fit is cut closer and more comfortable. First of all, instead of being 32/33", the sleeves on a large regular are more like 34/35/", which is longer than any other style long-sleeve shirt I've ever encounterd. And, they are VERY large in the body. I compared them to the Oakmans I own, and they are the same cut, not relaxed or closer cut at all. And, because they are thinner material there's much more room in the body, to the extent that they are WAY too big. The lighter flex material also feels like a cheap Polyester Dickie shirt! So uncomfortable! I ordered two and sent them back immediately. Bring back the S09 Oakman!!!!

I don't know why it took me so long to buy this shirt,i.e. comfortable, not only is it rugged but 'rugged manly looking' according to my wife. I'll end buying another one in the near future.
I bought three of these shirts, all three XL, but a different color for each. So far I have only worn two, the dark navy and the khaki colored one. Thus far, only two things that I have complaints about. First, the shirt size XL I consider to be a bit large for XL. If I had it to do over, I would have ordered them in LG instead. Second, everything sticks to the dark navy shirt (material), ie. lint, hair, dust, dirt, and obviously stands-out then. I'm sure it sticks to the khaki one as well, but isn't as noticeable and blends in.
Next time I would order a size smaller, I think, the sleeves are too long for my arms. I do expect these to last as long as my last ones.

I work in a municipal rose garden for 100 or more hours every month and my Carhartt shirts have held up well. The fabric stretches slightly to allow comfortable movement, and only a small number of threads have been pulled up by the sharp, very sharp, rose thorns.<br /><br />The only defect is the fabric's dye. My navy blue shirt faded in pale streaks across the shoulders and upper back quite soon after I began wearing it.

I was looking for a older carhartt shirt my husband loves and the shirt is no longer made. This shirt was the closest to the older ones he has. We are very happy with this new carhartt shirt for him. This shirt is wonderful in all aspects, except the fit!! There is enough material around the body of the shirt to fit 2of my husbands in it!! While I can take it in, the hubs has decided he'll wear it as a shirt jacket over other shirts, vests, or hoodies. He tried that, and it's still quite roomy, but does fit a wee bit better.<br />If you work, play oranything outdoor, this shirt is a must in all of that and more! It is just too roomy around the body for my man.

Clothing is the quality I expect from Carhartt but the normal XL I wear is much too large. From the shirts to the pants, I have an extremely difficult time cracking Carhartt's sizing standards and online shopping does not support this issue.

I am thoroughly disappointed with the fitting of the shirt, and also the t-shirt. I spent 15 minutes in doing the size match option in Carhartt website and it suggested that medium would be the right size for me. But after ordering and waiting for 2 weeks, the size came out to be too large. I don't see an use with the online tool that you have.

I bought a couple of these, but was actually shopping for the twill version. The fabric is a little thinner than the twill version and has a slight stretchiness to it. It breaths well and allows for movement. I'll make great use of it.

What I like about this is the pockets. The left one has a buttoned compartment, a slot for a pen or similar and a non-buttoned compartment that will hold a small notebook or the like.<br /><br />The large fits my 5'11 180 lb. self just fine, although a bit long in the arms (I'm a 33 in. dress shirts). This little challenge is addressed by a second slightly tighter button available on the cuff.<br /><br />This really isn't a summer weight shirt, not that it's heavy, by any means.
