My dad introduced me to carhartt as a little boy. Now that I'm in my 40s I found myself ordering a replacement sherpa lined full zip hoodie. The old one was worn beyond repair. I got the new one and after a initial wash/dry I went to wear it for the first time. Of course being I go to put keys and stuff in the pockets and immediately realized that this new pocket design absolutely sucks. Go back to a regular pocket. This flap and hand warmer pocket annoy the hell out of someone who actually uses pockets for stuff and large hands. You failed me!<br /><br />Get rid of this garbage...<br />"Front handwarmer pockets with flaps for added security and hidden media pocket inside"

The pockets are not easy to use at all.

I rely on Carhartt clothing. Holds up well and is pretty warm . The large size jacket fit me fine even with a flannel shirt underneath. I am 6 ft 205 lbs and large size , regular fit me fine.

Large Tall fit on point for me. I'm 6'3" and weight 205lbs. Hoodie is super warm throughout. The sleeves are smooth lined which makes for easy on and off but still warm even with a t shirt on underneath. Cell phone sleeve in the pocket on the front of the hoodie is a great addition as well as the pocket near the chest on the inside of hoodie that fits an average size wallet.

I'm 6ft / 185lbs / Average Build: The medium size is exactly what I was looking for, in terms of fit. NOTE: If you DON'T like a snug fit, go up one size. I can easily fit a sweater/layers under the medium. I didn't notice any significant shrinkage after a wash. Seemed to dry a lot faster than other cotton hoodies... Just a note to consider, as reduced dryer time will increase overall longevity. Quality is great, as expected and the turtleneck-style zipper is a welcome/useful feature. Lastly, I've seen conflicting comments about the arm "quilting"... The interior sleeves are a polyester fabric, like you'd find with quilted lining, but they are NOT sewn w/ a quilting pattern and have NO hollow-fill insulating material. In fact, the sleeve's material isn't a heavy fleece--like the body and hood--underneath the polyester lining. That said, I have to agree with the reviewers that found this detail lacking in the description, to be misleading. I would urge Carhartt to consider editing this detail.

Perfect for what I wanted. Used to work in my workshop and yard in the winter. Oh, I live in Michigan, so I may need a long sleeve t-shirt under the rain defender when working outside in Dec., Jan., and Feb. Very comfortable as well.

Relatively comfortable, warm, but seems to need a little more break in for daily use. The hood is very firm, and does not move with my head, and stays open wider around my ears.

Really warm and easy to put in because of the lined sleeves. Only two little drawbacks cause me to give it a 3 instead of a 5. The right pocket has an insert maybe for a cellphone? Only problem is when you go to put your hand in the pocket your fingers get caught in the smaller pocket. <br />The zipper catches at various points when zipping up. I’ve learned that instead of pulling up, if you pull the zipper away and up it goes up and down without a problem.

Fends off the cold. Wife thinks it looks good on.

The Sherpa lined sweatshirt is no ordinary sweatshirt. Besides being extremely warm, its water protective qualities make it perfect to wear on winter’s cold drizzly days without the bulk of a parka or coat. The addition of the hood adds to the protection and warmth. A winner! Both my husband and I now have these for morning walks.

Great hoodie if you wait something quick to on. It’s warm enough most occasions. Just wish it had 2 inside pockets that where reasonable deep. All in all a comfortable hoodie.

I love this. I looked for this but only place I found it was Cabellas in an XL. It was end of season and after Christmas. Bad timing on my part. I was not hopeful. <br />I need a small. I hoped if I waited a bit the Carhardt website might get more in before the season change. I couldn’t believe my eyes when a couple weeks later they had it. Afraid I’d have to wait till late summer. <br />It is perfect. Warm, dry, comfortable, and nice looking. There is a placket behind the zipper to block wind. Great idea. The Sherpa is much warmer than fleece. The length is good for me. Knit cuff nice. Sherpa in the hood really warm and blocks wind down back of my neck. It comes down slightly over hips.. Feels like a quality sweatshirt. Not like one you can see through. It does get cold in AZ at night and this is perfect. <br />I’m small, in a wheelchair and have a dog to walk. It fits great! Really warm even on the coldest days. It does repel water fairly well. I don't think it would work in a downpour but a light to medium drizzle it works fine. Would definitely recommend.

Great jacket, extremely heavyweight material, nice Sherpa lining in the torso. As warm as several of my goose down winter coats. It is a heavy jacket, would not recommend packing it for camping. Have not tested it in rainy conditions, but I live in the Pacific Northwest so just a matter of time!

I had a Carhartt Sherpa-lined sweatshirt for many years that I had bought at Sears, wore it during cold weather months while walking the dog, running errands, and while building projects in my garage. I finally wore it out. <br /><br />My new one is worn the same way, and I love it. <br /><br />One dislike - you added a small second pocket on the outside right which makes it hard to get into the main right-hand pocket while wearing gloves. You may want to rethink that one.<br /><br />One like - the inside pocket is well-placed on the upper left side and fits my iPhone13 Mini perfectly. Nice touch! Thank you.

Very good shirt. Was a little loose and drafty around the hem so I did a little alteration. And of course I removed the tiny pocket from inside the hand pocket. Now it’s perfect. I’ve found myself choosing it over my jacket most of the time.

Due to the region I live I would prefer a different liner in the sleeves. On a -30 degree day the material used gets pretty cold, yet the torso does great. Very durable for as much as I’ve put it thru already unfortunately already time for a new one. Looking pretty old yet withstand the torment and daily use quite well.

The waist and arms on this for extremely short for a large. It would be good to wear gloves with but the size difference to the large tall is substantial. Otherwise very warm and durable.

These jackets are amazing and very heavy. They are classified as a sweatshirt are crew guys wear them as jackets. Compared to most Carhartt jackets they are more stiff these ones are not. Our guys can wear there layers plus overalls and these jackets. We are very happy with them.

its the warmest hoodie ive ever had. I normally wear a thermal, workshirt, and a hoodie in the mornings. Its been around 34 degrees, and I was getting hot. The neck flap with the hood will be great working in a snowstorm. I dont care for snow gear since it doesnt breath, so this hoodie will be right up my alley

This sweatshirt is going to help eliminate the brutality. The materials breathes but keeps you warm. I wish Carhartt made it in dark green and navy blue!

Great sweatshirt. fits okay. torso,chest and shoulders fit okay but arms are a tight in the biceps. I ordered a medium instead of a large based off of size recommendations and fitment charts. i am glad I did. I am 5'8" tall and between 160and 170. I normally wear a large or 38-40 in the chest and shoulders and 32 waste. other than the arms this fits well and is made well and is incredibly warm. I do agree with other reviews that the cell phone pocket in the right hand warmer pocket is incredibly dumb and useless. It just gets in the way

Size Large - Tall fit me perfectly at 6'4", 220lbs. Adding a second interior pocket would be a great improvement.

Purchased to replace my prized Carhartt Shera-lined full zip sweatshirt, only to discover the previous version was no longer available. Confident this one would be just as good I ordered it, but I was a bit disappointed. It looks fine, but that's not why I bought it. I have no idea how durable it is yet, I've just purchased it a few weeks ago. The sherpa lining doesn't feel as lush or thick, I don't believe this version offers the same warmth as the previous, but I concede that is probably subjective. I have two major issues with this version: First, this rain defender nonsense. If it is designed to keep you dry from the vegetable misters as the grocery store, you'll be very pleased. Anything more than that and you're getting wet and heavy. Second, setting aside the dumb "flaps" over the pockets which serve no discernible purpose, on the inside of the right hand pocket is, yet another pocket, positioned perfectly to prevent my hand from going into it. I am constantly fighting with that stupid inner pocket to get my hand in there. I'm sorry, but it's just supposed to be a really warm zip up sweatshirt - what's the big deal? I just want to put my hands in the pockets. I'd go back to my old one but it's an XL and I'm now wearing Mediums.

I work in a warehouse loading trucks. This sweatshirt keeps me warm when the temperatures drop and is easy to take off when I get too warm. Very comfortable for my profession. The only thing I don't care for is the little pocket inside the pouch. I really don't have a use for it since I store my phone in the pocket inside the sweatshirt. It's not a deal breaker though, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I purchased this midweight full-zip hooded sweatshirt to keep me warm during the Maine Whitetail Deer Firearms Season. This season opened Saturday morning (10/30) for Maine residents, and we were welcomed by steadily pouring rain and thick fog. The Rain Defender element of this garment was superb; it kept me dry and warm (temps in the mid-40s with a regular breeze), and the rain even beaded up and rolled off the sleeves and body of the garment as I walked through the woods. I am very happy and impressed with this garment; I can't wait to see how it handles the colder, windier days of November. I would recommend it to hunters across the entire U.S.!

I love the jacket very much it is nice and warm fits well and the color is really nice but when I put my hands in the front pockets your hand always wants to go into the cell phone pocket first I think they should eliminate that pocket and just use the cell phone pocket inside the jacket on the chest and also it needs a zipper on the pocket on the inside of the hoodie where the chest is. I give this hoodie 4 stars because of the cell phone pocket and no zipper on the inside pocket but other than that I do recommend it 100%.

I bought this exact sweatshirt years back and loved it. Wore it out, and decided this winter i would get a new one, and i gotta say, I love the changes to the design since the last one i bought! the addition of the fabric behind the zipper area really helps keep the wind out on cold days!

Warm fleece lined, hooded, full zip sweatshirts in long are the only way to go to keep my husband happy for Father’s Day. But the really important feature is sleeves lined with slippery fabric that allows easy on and off when wearing flannel shirts. A favorite!

This hoodie fits exactly the way I was hoping it would, is extremely comfortable, looks nice and has a perfectly fitting hood and pockets. I couldn't have asked for anything more for a hoodie, I plan to have this for a very long time and when it finally does start to wear out I plan to buy another one.

This is my second one and the 1st one fits better. They are both the same size(XL) but the new one was bought last year and the 1st one about 4 years ago. The new one is definitely a bigger fit. I don't know what this 3rd pocket is for as it is completely useless. Your hand or fingers get jammed trying to get inside the main pocket. Carhartt, please get rid of this pocket and take that material and use it for the inside pocket to make it bigger and deeper. I miss the deeper pockets with the zipper as they were great to zip up and not lose things out of them when leaning over. Overall I do like the sweater except for the extra pocket and the fact they fit bigger than the older ones.

So far this model fits me perfect. A 5 star hoodie. Really wish it was made in America though. I would pay more just for that. Also really don’t care for the pocket covers or the smaller pocket within the hand warmer. I’m right handed so I’m always putting items in the right main pocket and the smaller pocket always gets in the way, always hangs me up. If it came with a zipper or velcro to keep it closed when you don’t need to access it that would work for me.

I went back and forth about what size to get. I'm tall with a muscular build, 6'5", 270 lbs. I tried on several options at a local store, XL, XLT and 2XL and settled on the XL. The 2X and XLT felt too long in the body and arms and the XL was closest to being right, although, I wish it was like 1 inch longer in the body. Overall happy, it is super warm. One other gripe, and I know they say it is for easy on and off, but I wish they would line these in sherpa all the way through including the arms. How hard can it be to take off a zip up hoodie?

Bought a couple of these for my boyfriend and he loves them. Wears them to work or even just out and about. I’ve worn them a handful of times when I ended up getting cold and they are very warm. The sleeves are not lined with sherpa though, which he likes because it’s easier when dealing with long sleeves.

Very very warm! Warmer than the thermal lined hoodie. I don’t know if it’s warmer than the quilted lined hoodie but some say it is. The only reason I did not give it a fifth star is because the description says that the sleeves are quilted and this is misleading. The sleeves are only nylon lined and there is no quilting or insulation. Carharrt, if you added the black quilted insulation to these sleeves, this would be a game changer.

I really like the jacket and am very happy with the quality of it. What I did not like was that I called your customer service line to get an answer about sizing and the young man was polite but didn't have the answer to my sizing question [which is ok] so he took my information and told me that he would find out the answer for me and be back in touch. I never heard from him again.

fairly nice overall. but the collar wont lay flat which makes it scrape your chin constantly. also the right pocket has an extra pocket inside. when ever you put your hand in that pocket you always get the small pocket by mistake. also i had to get a tall when i shouldn't of needed to. the inner sleeves are supposed to bbe quilted and they are not. and the sleeve lining material is really flimsy and surely wont last. but ill keep it, because i can't find anything better right now.

I had an older style, but I started shrinking or something so the Large I owned was too big on me. I own a Medium in the florescent style and that fits ok, but I ordered a small in this one and it fits like a glove and its warm enough to go out for a few mins to walk my dogs in current single digit weather.

Everything about my jacket is right except for the fit. It is a relaxed fit jacket which is huge on me and therefore doesn't offer the warmth I was expecting. I would be more impressed with a jacket that was more tighter fitting but I'm afraid the jacket wouldn't fit in a smaller size.

Should’ve gotten the large tall. I have an xl and a xl tall. Instead of making it longer they made it a little longer but way wider. I could fit two people in this thing. Sucks. Wish i could exchange it.

This is one of the best hooded lined jacket I’ve bought. Sherpa lined hood and main body, with smooth lined arms so it’s easy to put on and take off , especially when you have that extra layer on. Highly recommended!

Loving the sherpa lined zip up, so comfortable! Use it as a jacket basically with a t shirt good til about 40 degrees, for some reason carhartt zip ups run a bit large so I sized down. Regular hoodies I'm an XL, so I went down to a large and fits great.

If you buy this expecting to get "just another hoodie", maybe with a nice sherpa lining and some water resistance, you're in for a treat! This is massive overkill for a hoodie, there's just no other way to describe it!

This is my second zipper sweatshirt that I bought from Carhartt. My last one lasted 5 years with the sleeves becoming frayed too much to ware anymore. I work in very low heated warehouse. I thought this would replace my winter jacket and be easier to work in. It has heft, but does not keep me overly warm. I think it works well when the temp is above 25 degrees. But, anything lower I'll have to wear my Carhartt jacket. It is well made and the quality is good. I'll just wear it hen it's not as cold out..

A bit larger than I expected.

It runs a little large but that was fine. The body stays warm even when it's in the teens, but the arms aren't insulated. They are just lined lined so your arms can slide down them easier. That is nice but your arms get cold quick outside working. I bought with the hopes of being able to work outside in the winter without have to have a bulky jacket on, but without insulation on the arms, it gets too cold quickly.

I received it just before a trip to a very cold part of Colorado, and with layers underneath, it kept me toasty warm while setting up a tent at a homeless encampment in 10 degree F weather. I would give this product the highest recommendation. <br /><br />I would like to challenge Carhartt to provide a Rain Defender hooded sweatshirt to people experiencing homelessness. A Carhartt hoodie would be extremely helpful to them. Perhaps begin by giving them to veterans. I like the zip up sweatshirt with the Sherpa Lining. Not the lining is not in the sleeves. Also not a great wind protector so have to layer up. But all around good everyday knock around sweatshirt.

This is my first Carhartt sweatshirt. It is exactly what I was hoping it would be. It is cozy, warm, sturdy, comfortable, and well designed. Good zipper. I bought a medium. It is a perfect fit [I am 5'9", 160]. It is roomy enough that I can wear a fleece under it for extra warmth as needed. I like the hidden pocket in the front to store my cell phone. The flaps over the front pockets are a plus. The interior chest pocket is handy. The front zips up high and the 3-piece hood closes well so that one's head and neck are well protected from the cold air. The sherpa lining is great. The smooth lining in the sleeves is makes it easy to get on and off. Good job!

I LOVE this sweatshirt. I am a 5’9” female, 180 lbs, and got a men’s medium. I prefer the longer length, which is why I opted for men’s sizing instead of women’s. Falls at about my mid-behind. It is very warm and comfortable, and I like that it is somewhat water repellent. The only gripe I have is the small pocket within a pocket, which was mentioned in numerous other reviews as well. I ended up removing it with a seam ripper, but because of the stout stitching at the top, I now have a small hole inside the pocket. Could have sewed it shut, and maybe should have, but what’s done is done. Still worth it to not constantly stick my hand in that tiny pocket every time I go to slip my hand in the regular pocket. Small complaint, but worth noting. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. Also love the Peat green color.

I love this jacket. I wear it for work as an aircraft technician. Very warm and protects against all but the heaviest rain and wind. Only when it gets below freezing do I need to add extra layers. The black dye used in the fabric holds it's color against exposure to hydraulic fluid better than their blue dye which turned purple.

I bought Carhartt's sherpa-lined hooded sweatshirt in February 2020. I wore it in February and March. I put it away for the spring and summer. I started wearing it again in November and the zipper ripped. Horrible quality - I expected much more from a Carhartt product.

Ive had the Dickies sherpa lined hoodie and its far warmer and heavier. I wanted to give Carhartt a chance. But after comparing, the Dickies hoodie is better. The sleeves are also thicker, warmer. For $80, it definitely could be better

Love this jacket! It’s very soft and very cozy. The quilted interior of the sleeves is perfect because it’s easy to take on an off without feeling like you have to peel it off your clothes, also it has lots of excellent pockets!

This jacket is exactly what I needed, it fits really well ( 6’0” tall 200lbs) I saw on a previous review that somebody had a negative opinion about the inside of the sleeves not being fleece, but I think it makes the jacket easier to put on and take off, I also don’t notice any difference in warmth from sleeves/body.<br />This is a great jacket for winter and I would definitely recommend it. Suits my needs perfectly, great product.

This sweater is warm enough to wear by it’s self without a jacket over it especially if you are wearing a thermal under it!! This is the working mans sweater!! I gave it four stars because these sweaters fade quick and that sucks because I have to wash them often!! It just looks like an old sweater after 2 months and I don’t like that but that does not affect it’s performance at all!!

I have worn this hoodie for years. It is durable enough for working construction, but comfortable enough for daily wear. It is very warm.

This hoodie is warm but not too heavy. Living in the desert southwest, I don't know if I will need much defending from the rain so I can't speak for how much it repels water. It fits well and the color is nice. I am not a fan of the location of the "phone pocket". Every time I put my hand in my pocket, it goes into the phone pocket. Really an odd location for it but it isn't a deal breaker. All in all, it is a perfect hoodie/sweatshirt for work.

Bought this for the cool days in CO, and as an under layer in the winter. So warm and comfortable I even use it as a housecoat in the winter. I’m 6’2”, 190, athletic build and the Large Long is a great fit. Keep making Long Carhartt, it really helps the fit for us taller, leaner types (retired Marine). Great all around hoody, I prefer the full zip type, and highly recommend.

The SHERPA-LINED Rockland is only in the chest and back. No SHERPA inside the sleeves. I quickly found our its not warm. Its not water proof at all. Talk about stretching the truth! Carhartt really stretched the truth on this write up. Its a great sweater driving inside a car with a good heater. Who ever wrote the discription and those who approved thr description should be fired. Its the only Carhartt item that fits wide shoulders. Excesive room around the stomach. Great for driving. I am done with Carhartt.

I like this hoodie a lot. It’s very warm (but not super warm). I’ve worn it in light rain and snow flurries without issue. It stayed dry. I’ve been wearing it in 40 degree weather. I thought the color would be lighter. But I still like the darker looking gray. I’m 6’4”, 200 lbs, with long arms, thin build. I bought the Large Tall and it fits perfectly.

Bought each of my 2 adult boys one. They spend much time outdoors, and they are perfect for Wisconsin Fall into early winter. Quality seems high, so far.<br />No cons at this point.

The main body of the sweatshirt is great besides it feels like it’s two sizes too big for me. I ordered a medium and the hoodie I received says it’s a medium, but the body is more like an extra large on me. The sleeves do fit like medium sleeves. The body is huge compared to other medium size hoodies I own that fit me perfectly. The lining keeps my body warm, but the sleeves are another story. The sleeves are not Sherpa lined, they are polyester windbreaker material lined which allows my arms to turn to frozen arm logs within seconds of stepping into cold weather. The picture for this hoodie shows what looks to be a normal zip up hoodie, but it’s not. The hood has a collar and if it’s zipped up all the way or not, it constantly feels like I’m being choked by the zipper. This hoodie is not made for someone with a beard. I have accidentally zipped my beard up numerous times already. The Sherpa lining in the hood is all bunched up which makes the hood slide off of my head. I wear a 7” fitted hat which is considered a small hat, and the hood is more like a half hood because it doesn’t cover my entire head. The hood is extremely small for a rain defender hood. Also for being a rain defender hoodie, it instantly soaks up rain water. The hoodie was entirely dripping wet soaked within a minute of being caught in the rain while running from my car to my house front door. Carhartt needs to make clothes that are true to their size with a little better quality control.

Nice jacket, but really runs larger than true size. Fits me more like a coat than a jacket.<br /><br />Washed to see if it shirk and I think it did, but very much. High quality zipper. Like the smooth satin material inside of the sleeves. It is very warm and somewhat wind resistant. Would recommend, but take note that is really does run larger than true to size.

Carhartt is constantly improving their designs, at the same time maintaining quality standards. First thing I noticed when trying on was how comfortable. The inside sleeves are lined with smooth "Quilted Nylon" such a great feature makes on/off a breeze (even with wet hands/wearing layers). The wind has a really tough time biting through with the Sherpa Lining, it keeps your core warm and extends under the hood which makes your beanie twice as warm. The Media "Cellphone" pockets fit my S10 with otterbox case like a glove, both are nicely fleece lined. The front pockets have a decent flap to keep stuff from falling out. MAINE APPROVED / 5'11 - 185lb - Size L / ?????

it started with a RAIN DEFENDER® PAXTON HEAVYWEIGHT HOODED ZIP MOCK SWEATSHIRT i received as a gift. with in a year i had every color.. <br /><br />then started purchasing zip up lined sweatshirts with rain defender.. outer layer optional if you have thermo's on!

The zipper on the xl one I ordered gets stuck a lot about mid way. Other than that it is great

My personal preference is these hooded sweat shirts lined with sherpa. I have been wearing them for a few years from different brands. I have always worn the denim jackets for work and play. I can move better and just all around more comfortable in the hooded sweat shirts over the denim jackets. The carhartt version is warm comfortable and easy to work in but I absolutely hate the silky crap in the sleeves. That stuff should be replaced with a warmer much more comfortable thermal lining or put some sherpa in there to. I'm sure it's a price point thing but I would pay more for the perfect hooded sweat shirt. The C.E. Schmidt version has the thermal lined sleeves and is my #1 go to hooded sweat shirt. I purchased 3 of these carhartt hooded sweatshirts with sherpa lining simply because the C.E. Schmidt versions don't exist anymore.

I would recommend this because it’s pretty warm, soft, comfy and durable.

This is a heavier hoodie that will keep you warm in lower temps and can be layered. The zipper, classic Carhartt, is one reason I bought this since my last hoodie's zipper died. The sherpa lining is awesome for warmth and comfort, with polyester sleeves so no trouble in or out. Sherpa lining in hood, fantastic. Great hoodie.

Great quality hoodie. Thick, comfortable and durable. Have not yet used in rainy weather, but suspect it should do a reasonable job at shielding small amount of rain from soaking into the material. Size runs a little bit big, but not enough to warrant dropping a size lower. Get the true size for your fit and it should have a little extra room. If I had to pick on one thing, it would be that I wish the inside of the arms were the soft lined sherpa material, like the rest of the inside is. Not a big deal, but I would have preferred sherpa material cover all the inside. Great hoodie nonetheless!
