The Full Swing Relaxed Fit Washed Duck Traditional Coat features:
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. He previously had a Carhartt coat for years but needed a new one. He tried it on and it fits him well and is warm. He can’t officially have it till Christmas but he knows he has it. Carhartt is a great company that makes lasting products. It is the only coat that my boyfriend will wear in New York winters.
The “Full Swing” Duck coat was a gift for our son. He inherited a used one years ago, and was super excited to get this new one. They are great coats.
Great coat. Very warm. Nice looking. Good quality. My only complaint is it is a little large.
Love it...Very warm
I was initially hesitant to purchase this jacket because it's quite a bit more money than the standard Carhartt jackets, but it's worth every penny. I've never worn a more comfortable heavy jacket before. Lots of room (I'm 6'4" and ordered a XL Tall) and it's nice and warm on freezing Pennsylvania Winter days. I'll definitely purchase another one down the road when this one wears out.
Great. I like how it is
5'9" 185lbs, medium fits good with room to layer. Solid chore-coat style jacket. Typical good Carhartt quality but has a couple design features that could use work. It has a two way zipper, which is nice because it is a longer torso jacket, but man it starts to be a pain to get the double zipper lined up and started if you are taking it on and off a lot. Feel like they could have just put the base of the zipper higher up and put a couple snaps at the bottom. It also has a waist height draw string inside the coat (another good feature on longer bodied coats like this) but the draw string is only in the liner, not attached to the canvas shell. When you tighten it down, the shell pulls away from the liner and flops away from your body. Not sure why they thought that was a good idea. Other than those two things I do like it, its a good jacket. I wear Medium Carhartt shirts/hoodies/jackets and this fits a small bit looser than most of my other relaxed fit carhartt coats, good for layering.
My Favorite Coat
I am 5'7", about 140 lbs. and I bought size SMALL REG. It's perfect for me, I even have room for an extra sweater/hoodie and some insulated undershirt. No problem with the zipper so far, I am very happy. Cheers
First Carhartt jacket I’ve owned and it was everything I’ve been looking for. The fit is larger than I thought but still, it has great arm rotation, movement and warmth.
Great coat but I haven’t been able to find a hood for it.
Perfect fit and comfort. Super warm as all my Carhartt items.
Nice roomy fit. Extra length keeps your whole torso warm when your out doing chores or riding. Just right!
It's not cold up here yet in the northeast. So I haven't worn the jacket yet
Fits perfect. Love the longer fit. Very warm.
Great coat very warm and cold wind can’t penetrate it! I have three of these coats, one is 15yrs old the other is 30yrs old and just bought this one. The two older coats I still use and their excellent coats I just wanted a new one. All three will more than likely last the rest of my life! You can’t beat a Carhartt!!
We ordered these jackets for our field guys. These are going to be perfect for them!
I am 5’8” and 140 lbs, and the size Small fit me great. I like the warm lining and cuffed sleeves, and durable fabric. The generous pockets provide for ample storage and are convenient for warming hands. Overall love the jacket for working on the field.
I had an older Sandstone Artic Traditional coat that I bought in 2009 that was (sadly) needing to be replaced. This version is every bit as soft and pliable out of the package as the older model. I definitely like the snaps along the zipper flap. Only one "big" problem; it's HUGE. I'm 6'1" and about 220. The last one of these I had was an XL and fit perfectly. I ordered the same size and it's like I'm wearing a tent. But alas, I bought it, washed it, and hung it up for months before I wore it, so it was too late to exchange it.
Zipper is terrible.
Service in store was great. <br />Jacket is everything as advertised. I will get many good years of use pit of this jacket.
Very pleased with this coat. It is very comfortable. I would have preferred that it came with a zip on/off hood.
This is a great coat. I wear it on the ranch and it is tough as nails. Some people have complained about the lack of warmth, but compressing the draw cord around the waist works well for keeping the wind out. This jacket is meant to be layered with because it is designed for work and physical activity. With the proper layers I stay plenty warm well below freezing temps without overheating.
Great jacket for cold weather. The material is tough and while not water proof does repel light drizzle. A good choice for hard working folks.
very warm and comfortable
Great ! Really liked the carhartt original color also. Very warm. Quilted lining let’s my sleeves slide in nicely.
My husband loves his coat, he wears it constantly, and he said he wished he had bought it sooner!
I bought one of these in 2011 and I fully appreciated its comfort and ability to keep me warm. This coat is light weight and keeps the cold wind out without weighing me down like heavier coats do. I perform manual labor in the outdoors for hours at a time and this coat has been a life saver. Also, I am tall with long arms and the "XL Tall" fits me perfectly. No other coat accommodates the length of my arms like this one does. I can reach my long lanky arms to the sky without my sleeves baring my wrists as most coats do.<br /><br />In 2022, I bought a new one and Carhartt has improved the coats construction and features. Much appreciated. However, I do have a small complaint. Something about the armpits section doesn't feel right. The armpit section wants to bunch my shirt up. (I hope I am explaining this well enough.) If I fix my shirt after putting the coat on then it might be fine, but I don't have to worry about that with my old coat from 2011.
Best coat that Carharrt makes!!!
Great coat
Love it! Great jacket.
Great coat, very warm, love everything about the actual jacket. But sizing is definitely a challenge. This was the first Carhartt I'd bought in a long time, so I first visited 3 different local stores wanting to buy something in person, or at least find the size would fit the best. But they make so many different styles and they all fit different. I couldn't find a good fit or consistent size... a lot of the ones I tried on were too short in the torso. I'm thinner than most at 6'2, 170lbs, so always in between a medium and large, and some brands just don't fit well in either size. I saw this one online and hadn't seen it in store, liked the style generally, and was convinced I'd have to go with a large so it wasn't too short in the torso or sleeves. I wanted it for working outside, mostly at home, and didn't care if it didn't look perfect, so thought going with the larger size would be better. But I should have listened to the other reviews and sized down, because the large was WAY too big. I returned the large and bought a medium, which fits great. Plenty of length in the torso and even sleeves are good, not too short, no constriction in the underarm or elbows. The "Full Swing" cut is definitely nice and gives freedom for full range of motion when working, without it being excessively baggy. I would agree with another reviewer that the arms are somewhat narrow on this coat relative to the body, which is not an issue for me, but I could see that for someone else. I am able to wear several layers under it including a hooded sweatshirt without a problem. But if I'm not needing to bundle up, the coat still fits me good. Anyway, I measured both sizes, hopefully this will help someone else-- Back Length, bottom of collar to bottom of coat: (M=31.5", L=32"), Chest circumference (M=50", L=53"), Sleeve length (M=25.75", L=26"), and Mid-bicep circumference (M=18", L=19"). Carhartt should consider posting measurements or doing more to make buying online easier! And considering how many styles they make, even if you go to a store that has a good selection, there is still a lot more you don't see. You'd think they'd want to do everything they can to make buying online easier and cut down on returns. But at the end of the day... I'm very happy with the product, it seems high quality and very durable and I'm looking forward to getting years of use out of it.
whats not to love! Carhart quality, rugged, very warm
Great coat, warm, great fit
Love the jacket!
It's everything I was looking for in a coat. Warm, rugged, lots of pockets, excellent fit.
You get what you pay for, and this jacket is worth every penny.
Best winter coat I ever had for winter!!! Like all Carhardtt products, great quality and functionality!
I purchased the same size as my favorite, many years old Carhartt RN#14806 coat, X-large, Tall. This new coat is a bit bigger. Probably should have gone down a size to Large, Tall. The snaps spacing under the collar are different, so using either of the hoods that I have cause a buckle in the middle of the collar. There's also a manufacturing defect in one of front deep pockets where part of the pocket lining wasn't sewn in, so I need to watch that coins don't fall through into the coat. Not up to the quality standards of my old coat, two sets of one-piece coveralls, two hoods and two vests that I have purchased over the last 35 years..
Great, warm coat. A little stiff to begin but I love it.
Good Quality Coat. Quick Delivery. Very Satisfied
I’ve owned a couple of these and love them.
Giving 5 starts cause I love Carhartt. I could have gotten a Medium but got a large . BUT able to put on a sweatshirt underneath . Great quality. No complaints
Bought this jacket for the perceived quality of the brand not expecting the zipper to break within the first 5 uses. Expected the zipper to wear out eventually, but this is extremely disappointing.
Great jacket!! Perfect for everyday wear. I had to get a small and its still very comfortable. I love the collar and the knit sleeves keeps cold air out. Deep front pockets, two inside pockets 1 on each side and a little pocket inside the front pockets for an ink pink or little flashlight. Not to mention two front chest pockets. I would recommend to all my friends.
It runs a little on the larger size but I really like that for layering. Great coat and great quality. The flexibility you have in the arms on this coat is just awesome it never feels too tight or stiff
Fits great. Everything you would expect from carhartt. Would recommend that hood be included in price.
I’ve had this coat a year now. I love it. Very warm. Recently wore it all day working security for a flat track event. The temperature didn’t get above 35 all day and I was toasty! Everyone else was shivering and trying to get warm. Very easy to move in if you are working.
Material is so stiff it is extremely difficult to zip the coat up. All other aspects of the coat are satisfactory. I would not recommend this coat.
Quality construction. Excellent style. But the sleeves are way too narrow. Great for someone with abnormally skinny arms, or normal arms in a t-shirt. However, long sleeve thermal ware with a long sleeve shirt make the fit in this jacket quite restricting in the arms. Addition of a light fleece, sweatshirt or sweater on a colder day is out of the question.
Fits well as ordered, a little snug in the shoulders, though.
Disappointed that the hood I had from an earlier jacket purchase (same coat) will not snap onto this new coat.
I bought this for my husband. He loves it. He says “I wish I would have bought one of these a long time ago”
The coat is comfortable and flexible. The Full Swing aspect is better than I thought it would be. I like the front pockets that fit my iPhone 12. The drawstring around the waist keeps the wind out. I like the front hand pockets that vey large that I use for hand tools.
It’s warm and the pockets are deep and functional.
I've worn a C26 for the last 11 years, which this model replaced. It's actually still going strong but isn't very presentable anymore. The new one fits the same, feels the same, and is very warm.
very high quality but the inside waist strings Frey in one wash, I would expect better from KARD heart I feel they need to replace the jacket.
I was very excited to receive the coat. Upon receiving it, I tried it on. The elastic cuffs were VERY tight to the point of being uncomfortable. The full swing shoulders made the jacket feel bulky and created a weird rub on my shoulders. The hook and loop fasteners on the front of the jacket were annoying - I wish Carhartt had used snaps instead. The collar was difficult to get flat. The color and materials were nice and of typical Carhartt quality. Five minutes after trying it on I bagged it for return. Carhartt makes the return process very simple, which I really appreciate.
Love this coat, have a heavier one for very cold days, but needed one a little lighter for everyday. This one fits the bill. Warm, very comfortable to wear first time out of the package. Love the zipper being a dual zipper style for providing relief at the bottom of the coat for movement while keeping the coat closed up and me toasty warm. Has enough pockets for sure with ample depth. I would definitely buy again. Have just had it a month or so cant really speak to durability but is very well built and seems strong enough for heavy use during work or play. Extremely Satisfied. Only wish is it was Made in the Good 'Ol US of A.
You want to be 6 foot 3 inches if your buying a tall.
It’s everything I wanted, and great in cold weather.
My second coat of this model, the first is at least 20 years old and still functional.
My son loves it!
Fits/ Feels great, Wife likes the way it looks. All around great product.
Felt totally broken in right from the beginning and has already become my go-to jacket. All of the quality that I've come to expect from Carharttt.
This jacket fits great and keeps you warm even when soaking wet. I've had it only for a week so I can't really comment on durability but it looks very well built so giving it a good rating on that.
I have had 3 of these coats in a 20 year span and they have all held up great! I don't expect this one to be any different.
Been wearing this coat for a week or so in weather in the 20’s and 30’s, super warm and comfortable. My only complaint (minimal) is that it can be difficult to zip up when your hands are cold (double zipper can be hard to get started). It definitely runs large; I’m 6’2: 175 lbs, I got a Medium and it fits great. I was afraid the sleeves might be short but they are definitely not.
Great would buy another one again!! Love the color and pockets
Such nice quality and a great fit
Love this coat. Due to the design it sizes large. I suggest you buy a size smaller. No break it period at. Deep pockets where they are needed.
This particular coat looks exactly as pictured! My husband loves this type of coat for work since he is a driller and needs to stay warm and dry during the winter months. He will be getting his new coat for Christmas!
Warmer than I thought. Great for my early morning rides.
My husband loves the jacket for its relaxed shoulders and elbows; he also likes the longer length but would really love it if it had more insulation.
fits great very comfortable.
Carhartt quality. Can't be beat.
Great jacket. Love the look, feel and durability. <br /><br />This was my first Carhartt jacket and after working on a ranch for years, I wish I would've gone with Carhartt sooner. <br /><br />The "Full Swing" material in the back and arms really make a difference when shoveling or lifting things over your head. I've brushed up against pretty sharp objects and this jacket has taken it all with absolutely no rips. Other jackets wouldn't have lasted this long. <br /><br />Overall, I'm very happy this was my first jacket. Only thing I wish I knew before was apparently different jackets made in different countries are sized differently. I'm usually a Large in any Columbia or North Face jackets, sweaters or shirts. In Carhartt, I'm a medium across the board. Not a big deal and Carhartt has a great customer service division that make returns easy.
Nice and warm, fits well also. <br />Did not notice the double zipper until I got it. The double zippers are way way harder to zip up than they should be. Very difficult to get the zipper started, and even unzipping it seems to get stuck. The negatives outweighs the benefits of this zipper in my eyes.<br /><br />Otherwise a nice jacket.
The zipper doesn’t work very very well
This is a wonderful coat. I always order the large tall instead of just large cause it hangs down a little more. My third one now. Still wearing the old one for every day. Thirty years and still ordering the same coat.
Appears to be made well and works as designed. Ask me in a year or two
Great heavy coat, love the deep pockets also the extra cost for the full swing shoulder’s are well worth it when you have a few layers on
Jacket is amazing. I actually was able to size down and it fits perfect. Love everything about it.
It is nice and long for my husband that where’s a XLT. It fits him nicely and gives his shoulders plenty of room to move. The pockets are big and deep.
Awesome jacket. Perfect fit!
Bought down a size. Fits well, slightly long in the arms. 5’11” 285, full swing cuts are great for laboring. Overall decent coat for the price not disappointed
I love this coat! It is perfect for the transition weather from summer to winter and winter to spring and even during the less extreme winter days in Alaska!
Just as expected. Great jacket. It’s a classic. Runs large as others have said. I’m 6’1 190lbs and the medium is comfortably large on me. Plenty of room for layers without restricting movement. It’s heavy. Quilted liner and knit cuffs inside the sleeves. Deep pockets and it’s cut long. I’m fully satisfied. Can’t wait for a cold day of ranch chores.
good jacket
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking to stay warm and comfortable when doing outside activities in the cold weather.
Great jacket
IT'S GREAT, WISH IT WAS MADE HERE!!!!!!!!!!
Nice fit . Really a classic fit for an almost 6 ft and 170 pounds guy.
Nice coat, but it really sucks that they don't makentheae in the US anymore. American workers need jobs to be able to buy your products.
Good looking, solid feeling, full range of motion. 5'10" 170lbs, I usually wear large shirts and jackets in other brands but a medium fit right for this coat.<br />The waist drawstring tends to stick to the velcro on the storm flap. Otherwise no complaints.
Very heavy, warm coat
As always the coat is outstanding quality an attractive. It is the traditional Carhartt design and durability I look for.
Great Product
Got what I ordered.
The snap locations for the detached hood so my hood does not fit on my new coat.
My husband loves his coat!
Great coat! My first Carhartt was bought in 2009 and I still use it, although the sleeves are worn. I used it hard and will continue to use it for those really dirty outside jobs on cold days. <br /><br />Every stitch is still solid and except for the very worn sleeves and fading from washing, there is nothing else wrong with it. <br /><br />This Full Swing coat, now that us something special. I have no doubt it will last at least as long as my original!
Very comfortable and is perfect for me. I have to move my body around a lot with my job, and this coat is just what the doctor ordered
5’10” and 190. Main problem with many jackets of mine were ripping in the shoulders and not being able to layer properly. It’s longer to the waistband and doesn’t ride up when I lift my shoulders. Currently, I’m wearing a tank top, work shirt, a big hoody, thick flannel, and the jacket. Wanted to test how it fits with excessive but at times necessary layering because I work outside in the mountains. I’ll tell ya what. It’s snug but still loose and I have full motion. Fits great with or without the layers and my chest and shoulders are bigger than most medium build lads. Has great open pockets and is the pretty warm already. Got it at Big R for a decent deal and have a 30 day return option but I don’t think I will. Get this jacket!
Very comfy, but very big.
While I normally wear a large, do believe I could have gotten away with a medium in this jacket. Love the freedom of movement and it is super warm. Excellent jacket for manual labor in the colder temps.
Went fishing In Pyramid Lake NV, chasing absolute hogs. Prehistoric, loch ness monster-like fish roaming around. Couldn't have done it without my Carhartt!
Great coat very warm and fits great.
well designed and surprisingly warm!
Great coat that provides the warmth I need but is not bulky. Love the way it allows me to have great movement when working outside. And love the way it looks on me.
The coat feels heavy in the hand, but when you putbir on it is very comfortable. Not too warm to be uncomfortable, yet toasty in -10 weather. <br />Great coat.
Definitely makes working early mornings easier. Im 5'9 190lbs and a medium has plenty of room.
It was just what I was looking for and it fit great. It is very comfortable and warm.
Love this jacket, but it definitely runs much larger than other Carhartt jackets I have. Ordered an XL which is more like a 2XL so I had to return it for a large. Fits well now.
I’ve been blessed that I can buy any coat I want. This is the best cold weather coat I have ever bought. Warm, big pockets, easy moving for a big guy like me, and when I put it on over a Carhartt sherpa lined mock neck vest I am completely comfortable down to (so far) 12 below zero wind chill on long walks.
Well, I LOVE my Full Swing Armstrong Traditional ( bought at our local TSC ) , it's my all time favorite coat, and in 63 years, I've had a slew. But this one ( the small I ordered directly from y'all ) ) is for my wife for next Christmas ( 2021 ). She loves mine as much as I do, and didn't want anything else but the same exact style, so I tried to find her a small last year, but everyone was sold out or didn't carry the smalls. I finally found this one, but it was past Christmas, so I've hid it in my closet until then. Sure hope it fits!!!! Love Carharrt at this house!!!!
Very good jacket built with pride and quality
Great product. Very durable and the deep pockets fit my large gloves and other items I carry with me.
Everything went great....my husband loves the jacket.....it’s exactly what he was looking for!
As expected
Good quality, heavy, warm, lots of good pocket space, adjustable waist band, runs a tiny bit big. Solid.
Works well for why I bought it. It allows the freedom to use outdoor tools and is tough enough not to worry about the coat when crashing through the woods or having branches fall on you when cutting them. Big brass zipper is easy to zip and doesn’t bind. My only complaint is that the inside drawstring sticks to the velcro and has to be moved every time I zip up the coat. I’ll deal with it. ??<br />Yes I recommend it.
The coat is a little heavier than I expected
Jacket runs a little big but it is very comfortable and so far is great, was feeding a 140 pound ridgeback and he jumped up on my arm with pretty sharp claws and I didn’t even feel it, also didn’t scratch the jacket at all, has plenty of pockets and I can still move well in it
Heavy coat but unbelievably comfortable on.
I like it as much as my old one that I’m still wearing when I have a dirty work project to do. Only one minor thing which is not really that big of a problem with the new coat. The inside chest pockets are now reversed I’m right handed and it was so easy putting my cell phone in on the left side on my old coat. Which is now where the zipper one is located.I still use the Velcro pocket but it seems ackward.I jokingly told my wife that you sent me a left handed coat.
Fits well, great quality, warm. I highly recommend this jacket.
I bought this coat for my dad, who is moving to a colder climate. He loves it!
This coat is the real thing warm fells really good on me I LOVE this coat, I might buy a brown one good job????.
This coat is perfect for what I need it for. It's very comfortable, warm, and easy to move around in. I really like the pockets and the amount of pockets that the coat has. The zipper is great and the storm flap over the zipper is a great feature. The coat is durable and very well made. Very pleased and would highly recommend.
Very durable jacket. <br /> I bought this one to replace my old Carhartt jacket that I've had for 14 or so years. I work construction and I'm extremely hard on my clothes and these jackets hold up well
We were looking to replace my husband’s well worn Carhartt coat from years ago. This one looked similar but the lining was not quilted and it did not seem as warm. Plus, you discontinued his favored color, green, in this style. We will start checking older stores that may have older inventory.
love this coat, very warm in cold weather, lots of pockets, very durable, barb wire fences no match for this coat, wash's up really good
It’s really big, really warm. Very stylish. And the sleeves are very well insulated.
I ordered a small and a medium. Returned both for fit reasons. I am 5'10" with an athletic muscular build and smaller waist. The medium was absolutely HUGE on me. I could have fit 3 basket balls in front of me. The small was better but still very oversized but then the jacket was cutting me in the armpits. I mean this in a nice way-- if you are a big dog- with a big belly and smaller arms and shoulders by comparison this is probably the jacket and cut for you. If you are at all trim with a wider shoulders and smaller waist-- avoid this cut at all cost unless you want to look like you are wearing a canvas tent.......
Allows for flexible arm movement! Love the design of this jacket!
Great coat and fits well. Just as advertised: warm, durable, and allows for movement.
Great coat. I am enjoying wearing it !
MY son is very happy :) with his coat!!
Quality and comfort, warmth and style!! Should have purchased this 10 years ago !!!!
Fantastic buy. Durable, warm and let’s me have the freedom to move.
My husband loves it
It fit my husband perfectly! I needed to replace his old coat which has been worn daily in the winters. It was probably about 15 years old, and it replaced a previous Carhartt coat.
Excellent jacket!!!
For years I used a leather jacket with a hoodie underneath. I think those days are over. This coat is warm and fits well. The quality is great. Better than expected. I know I won’t be getting a lot of use out of it, I live in San Antonio. But it will be my go to jacket. It’s very comfortable and feels very durable.
One of my sons bought one of these coats and loved it. His advice caused two more of his brothers to buy black ones and they all seem to love them. They do seem to run a bit larger than expected in size, but we just traded in for the smaller sizes.<br />They love the quality and look of these coats.
The 15 years as an Iron Worker I never owned a Carhart coat. I can honestly say. I wish that I did. The functionality, quality and warmth is unbelievable. Even though I am retired now, I will have this great coat for the rest of my life. I will pass it on to my son when the time comes. Thank you Carhart!!!!
Awesome jacket, very satisfied with my choice.
Zipper is a bit hard to start
To say this coat runs large is an understatement. This coat is a tent. I'm 6'-1"/240lbs and I got an xl tall (Which is what my other 2 Carhartts were) but wow!! Had to return it. There's just no way to even wear it it's so big in the body. I could wear my old Carhartt under it.
really like this coat. looks good very warm with a vest. ready to take on winter. glad I bought down a size i usually buy medium but after reading reviews decided on a small. it fits perfect (5'10" 160lbs). most carhartt zippers are challenging to operate and this is no exception but if i pull down to get started it goes up ok
The sleeves were too short, and i returned the jacket weeks ago. I am 5’11” and wear a standard large shirt and jacket. Your large is short in the sleeves.
Nice fit and warm. Good flexibility Since it’s not as stiff as some
My husband loves these coats, he has other coats and none compare to the wear, quality and warmth. They are true to size when ordering. Great product, worth the money.
Having read some reviws that said the coat runs big, I ordered a small. Too small. Returned for a medium, the size I always wear, and it fit just fine with and without an underlayer.
Beautiful looking and excellent quality!
My son loved it
Fiance very happy with the coat and bought the detachable hat for it.
My husband loved the coat and almost everything about it. It’s warm and definitely full swing he wears it all the time he’s just not a fan of the double zipper although some people may be. All in all its a great coat and was a great purchase. Highly recommend
It’s too big for me
The last time my husband bought a Carhartt was about 10 years ago. He wore it every day. It was pretty run down after a decade so I bought him a new one for Christmas and he is thrilled that Carhartt is still making quality coats.
I have had one of these for near on 23 years. It has never failed me, its a bit faded with some signs of wear but there isn't one aspect of it that is even close to failing!. He has started borrowing mine the last month is I figured it would be a good Christmas present. HE LOVED IT!
It’s so comfortable and incredibly warm! You get great range of motion and is supper easy to work in. I wear mine every day on the farm! The draw string on the inside also makes it even warmer and give it a better fit.
Looks great
Great product, built to last a long time.Bought on Carhartt website, great experience.
This was a Christmas gift for my husband, he loves it, I has a lot of style and very comfortable, thank you!!
Very comfortable ease of movement really like the velcro for a quick close. Would recommend for anyone who wants to stay warm and still be able to move with ease.
Looks and fits great!!
Got for my Dad. He loves it. I got a medium. He’s between a medium and large so if you are in between size down.
I would recommend this jacket to anyone tall.
Very nice. Fits great.
Wore mine at 12,000 feet in 4’ of snow, -10 degrees, 0 problems
Wear it to the barn daily. Just what I was looking for.
It’s perfect for a hard worker.
Great coat!
I love this coat. Very comfortable yet rugged. I love the Carhart brand. Worked out side most of the time and only Carhart stands up to the weather. My one piece Carhart Coveralls are dated on the tag 1982. They are worn be still in great shape.
Great jacket! Sizing seems to run big. I wear a medium shirt so I purchased a size small. Fits just right.
GREAT LOOKING JACKET, DURABLE AND VERY WARM.
Quality construction, fits too big, zipper impossible to get started.
Nice coat. Roomy fit for additional layering, if needed.
This is a very heavy coat and we will be returning it for that reason. Other than that he liked all the pockets.
These are the warmest coats made. I don't trust anything else in the winter time.
I give it 5 stars. Just what I expected, great quality.
This was a gift for my husband to replace a similar Carhart coat that he had for many years. It appears to be made with the same quality and durability. Would recommend.
Overall, its a really good feeling and looking jacket. However the sizing runs REALLY big. I bought an xl and my manager (who wears about a 3xl) fits perfectly into it. I feel like I should have bought a large or even a medium. But I am happy with it
Coat is the best I have had and the fit was perfect. I really like the full swing ,didn’t have that in my old Carhartt coat I bought over 20 year ago
What guy who loves power tools would not love this jacket? My husband is not inclined to buy clothes for himself, so I ordered it. He has always wanted this jacket . As soon as he saw it on, I knew it was a keeper...and so is he! :)
I purchased the OH244 Flannl Lind Hood along with the OC293 Shrpa lind coat. Can not snap the Hood to the coat. I have an older 2004 Shrpa lind coat which the hood snaps easily to. I have also recently purchased a Full swing Traditional coat . I was also unable to snap the hood to this one also. Now not sure if both coats are defective or the hood is. Considering returning All!
I'm 6'2" and 175 lbs. I usually wear a large in any other clothing line. Only at Carhartt is a medium the right size. The jacket is great so far other than some quality issues with the flannel lining in one pocket; it's not stitched to the bottom. Debated on sending it back, but did not want to deal with the return process.
Absolutely fantastic.
Fits great. Very warm.
Warm heavy and durable. Exactly what was advertised and more.
Love the coat, but it didn’t come with a hood.
Its a great jacket. I unfortunately had to return it 2 times in order to find my correct size. Im normally a 2xL in t shirts. So i purchased a 3XL jacket, than 2XL. Finally ordering a XLT , that fits perfect. I removed the carhartt logo on the pocket . Well worth the wait and returns.
Great coat. Bought it for my grandson he loves it.
Fits great. I am around 255-260 and wear XXL in shirts but the XL is perfect. The movement is what is really remarkable. Whether your swinging an axe or unloading the truck and trailer you have full maneuverability. The rest is straight up Carhartt quality that is unrivaled.
Will always recommend carhartt products to all my friends and family. Quality clothing that fits right for good. 10/10
Great coat happy easy to move around in deep pockets
A little larger than my regular size but that's on me - I'd forgotten that Carhartts run a little big. Other than that, no complaints. Can't wait until it gets cold enough to wear it.
The jacket’s overall quality is great and exactly what I expected. Pockets are large and useful too. However, it won’t keep you completely warm unless you’re wearing a hoodie underneath.
Good quality jacket and service was excellent Service I would recommend it
Jacket looks nice but it was too big, so I shipped it back and am hoping to have a regular size large sent back to me in the same black color
Looks and feels great, the full swing gussets are a game changer. Id recommend buying a size smaller- i'm 6'1" and about 200lbs and a medium fits well. Overall seems great and warm, looking forward to using it for years to come! (WIll update after further use)
Overpriced. I had this coat purchased for me because I do not believe the quality is worth the price. The comfort is good and the extra material near the shoulders it's a great design.
Strong, durable, warm, and flexible. It’s a bit softer than my other jackets, it feels broken in, not near as stiff as my other carhartts
Very comfortable and warm
It's a well built jacket with strong material. The down side of my XXL Full Swing Armstrong Coat is more of a "XL". There is little room for a winter "hoodie" and constrictive. I have two other "XXL" Carhartt jackets and the other two fit like a "XXL" and have room for a winter hoodie. I'm a bit disappointed. I would not consider this a true winter coat for the daily winter weather temperatures I live in. Someone dropped the ball and or it's designed and measured for people in the far east. <br /><br />I would not order it on line and urge you to find a local store where you can try it on first.
I'm 5' 11'' 280 lbs. with a 52'' chest. At first I ordered a 3x reg. coat way to large. Could of easily had three of the heaviest sweat shirts that I own on and still had room for more. Re-ordered a 2x reg. this coat is prefect. Still has extra room in the shoulders and chest.
I’m 5’10” ~150# medium is just right over anything but a thin T-shirt. There’s enough room for even a hoodie without being too tight. Quality is what you expect from Carhartt.
Gift for my Dad, he LOVES it.<br />Great fit, comfortable, and useful pockets! <br />Highly recommend! We love all our Carhartt products!
Great construction but runs one size larger than stated
definitely recommend this coat, the Full Swing is absolutely an awesome feature !
I am very satisfied with this coat. Fits as advertised. This coat allows me great range of motion without being oversized. Have worn it outside in blustery cool conditions (45-50 degrees, winds to 30mph) so far and it performed well. Will also use for some hunting situations.
I’m a big guy and I really love how it fits
Love the coat well main details are nice just not a fan of the ribbed cuff In the sleeve, it keeps cold air out just makes it cumbersome to get on and off . Overall great coat!
Runs big. I’m 6’ 2” 210lbs and a medium fits well
Heavy duty, durable , big pockets , great look. Highly recommend.
Loved the product..returning because I should have ordered a large. Wish you did exchanges !
Got his jacket as my Christmas from my wife, I was excited to have it. Medium fit me prefect (6'4" 210lbs) the look was good even through I'm not liking the soft canvas Carhartt is using. Took the jacket to the lake and on the third morning the male end of the Zipper feel off sending the zipper and pull tab falling to the floor. As a Canadian customers we paid the duty, exchange rate and shipping to get this jacket, needless to say this is more than disappointing. In additional to this my wife felt terrible had to explain I appreciate the gift but its not her fault , Last time we order from the site sorry guys.
Carhartt has made great improvements on a classic coat. the full swing technology gives great range of motion and I love the upgrade from Velcro to riveted buttons
Best Coat I’ve ever Bought! Very Comfortable, Durable, and high quality! I’m 5’6 155lbs and got a size S with plenty of room for extra clothes underneath.
It was too heavy for what my husband wanted so we sent it back.
Great Jacket! Warm but not to warm fits nice without being bulky. I use to dread breaking in new jackets. This thing feels great right out of the package. This Thing Rocks!
I work mostly outdoors getting in and out my truck and high up into forest clearings. I needed something warm enough for the winter and raining seasons, durable for being up in trees, and flexible enough to be comfortable for all day use. I’ve used this for all of winter so far and it’s been amazing. Had a tree branch snap on me and hit me right in the torso and the jacket took pretty all of the blow. If you’ve owned Carhartt outerwear before, then you know. It does run big, especially in the midsection. I normally get an XL but had to go down a size for this jacket.
First Carhartt and very pleased. Coat is comfortable and allows for great movement without feeling to bulky. The service at the main DETROIT store was exceptional as well.
The full swing Carhartt jacket keeps me very warm in frigid temps. I really like the design as it allows freedom of movement and does not feel bulky.
Well made coat. Should last my lifetime
Love the warmth, extremely comfortable and the fit is just as I expected, big. But that’s why I listened to the reviews and got a size smaller. I’m very happy with this coat as I hope it seems to last me for a long time. I love the mobility features and also the cuffs that keep it tight around my wrists even with all types of movements.
I ordered a large because it was what your site recommended for a 40-42 inch chest. It was too large so I reordered a Medium and it is fine.<br />Like the jacket very much. Durable and warm and the brown color is very appealing. I would recommend the product highly.
Amazing coat but need to order a size smaller
Excellent work coat.
This coat is well made and warm. Pockets where you need them.
Great quality. However I am 6' tall and weight 200 lbs. I am not a small guy, yet I feel like I am swimming in a Large.
If you like tough and rugged this coats for you it’s warm and comfortable and the full swing feature is the only way to buy a carhartt coat very comfortable driving because of the full range of motion
Heavy duty and keeps out the cold.<br />Great investment
Nice coat built well
Feels heavy until you wear it - then you feel the flexibility built into the design and construction. Well made - real Zipper!! I expect several seasons of wear (New Hamsphire winters)
Very nice coat. Great quality. Lot’s of complements. I’ll be wearing it every day til it gets warmer
Returned it. Far too long. Bad fit. Ugly on.
I wish the front had just the zipper and button flap not Velcro. <br /><br />The insulation could be thicker. <br /><br />Adding option for a zip in Sherpa lining would be ideal.
This is really a review for a hood that supposedly goes with this coat. But I'm leaving this review here because if you're thinking of buying the dark brown coat with a hood, you need to read this!<br /><br />I really love this coat! It's very comfortable, love the longer length, deep pockets, strong metal zipper, smooth nylon quilt interior, ability to attach a hood. I normally wear Medium in Carhartt products. I bought the Medium and the torso and sleeves are a little too long. The shoulders and chest fit good for layering. If I had bought the Small, I think the shoulders and chest might have been too tight for layering, so I'm happy with the Medium. I'm 5'8", 175 lbs. pretty average build.<br /><br />But there's one thing to watch for...the dark brown hood that supposedly goes with the dark brown Armstrong coat doesn't match! I ordered in the Arctic Quilt-Lined Sandstone hood (102367) in dark brown and it's way darker than the coat, almost looks black compared to the coat. It seems the problem is that the hood is Sandstone duck fabric, and the coat is Washed duck fabric. (Maybe the wash affects the color?) Carhartt, when are you going to make a Washed Duck hood that matches the dark brown color of this coat?
Love wearing this jacket in the Minnesota cold!! Looks pretty cool too.
NICE FIT, COMFY, BUT A BIT PRICY.
I really like this jacket. The fit is true and great quality. Seems durable like other Carhartt jackets I've had in the past. But I just got this so I can't speak to the durability just yet.
Always a first rate Jacket
I love this product, I got it to replace my old Chapman Carhartt that I outgrew... Works as a good winter work coat in the central valley (CA) definitely recommend getting the hood with it, the hood with snaps in front work great when driving tractor in the early morning.
The jacket is as advertised. It comes ready to be worn. It seems sturdy and like it will last a longtime.<br /><br />If you're a pretty thin guy, I would suggest getting the jacket one size smaller than your usual shirt size. I'm a Men's M across the board, but went with a small and it's still a little big, but then again, it'll leave room for extra-layers.
Great fit, comfortable
I owned a Traditional in duck. Had it for 15 years. This coat is like a highly improved version. Amazing flexibility, comfort and fit. One of the best purchases I've made.
This is great jacket for those cold winter months. The Full Swing is great for those with broad shoulders or who do work that involves the need for unrestricted movement while wearing the jacket. Living in Minnesota this jacket had plenty of warmth for the cold days/nights. I would highly recommend this jacket. The size does tend to run a bit large. I am 6'4" 260 lbs and ordered a 2XLT. The only sizing issue I had was around the waist was too large. Other than that, I found the jacket fit very well.
Awesome jacket. Fits perfect. No break in period needed. Feels as if I’ve owned it for years. Super warm. Another review complained about the cost of $150. It costs $150 just to put Thinsulate in a jacket. I don’t see the issue. This jacket feels as if it should last many years. It’s a Carhartt, so I trust it will.
Love this coat. Fits great and keeps me warm.
Before I tried on the Full Swing coat at my local store, I tried on one of the standard canvas coats. I felt like that little kid on the movie "Christmas Story" than got bundled up with winter cloths by his mother. The little kids arms were so stiff that when he fell down in the snow, he couldn't get up, or even roll over. Then I tried on the Full Swing coat. Oh my, it was so flexible that I'm sure I could make snow angels in the snow if I fell down. I would definitely recommend this coat for anyone that wants to avoid the embarrassment of that little kid on "Christmas Story" that couldn't move his arms. Dave L.
Coat is big on me but I’m afraid if I went with the smaller size it wouldn’t fit
Great buy , well made product
This coat fit and acted as advertised. I like the freedom of the extra swing. I didn't rate durability because I've only had it a few weeks but knowing the durability of Carhartt I expect a long life and many years of service. Comfortable to wear. Warm, which is what I was looking for (it's winter) and it looks good.
First off before i write my review, i wanted to give it 5 stars on comfort and durability b/c for some reason, it wouldn’t let me. idk, but the coat is SUPER COMFY! I fell asleep in it. It’s a great coat and $20 more then the other Armstrong styles only b/c of the 80g thinsulate in it, which you think would be warm right. I loved the coat, it was super comfortable and i could move in it. The oversized front hand pockets have a thin layer of insulation in them - like a thin layer of fleece or something. It’s nice to stick your hands in there on a cold day and not necessarily need any gloves. The pockets are huge. I can fit a big sized bottle of Smart Water in it and still have lots of room to spare. I love the roomy outside pockets on this coat. I love the insulation by your wrists. So many other brand coats have that sleeve part out and then the wind goes up it and you’re cold. Not w/ Carhartt Coats - you’re wrist is protected and no wind is gonna go up your sleeve. I’m female, so i purchased a size medium which fits me like a large. This coat does run large. The large i tried on fit too but more like an XL. I had more length past my butt and it was roomier. So i guess if you’re going to be layering lots or want a roomier fit, get a large (i wear a large in female non-carhartt brand coats and an xl in carhartt female coats). However if you want a closer fit, go with a medium. If you’re not sure, then i highly recommend going to a store to try it on as this particular model does run large. It’s a nice loose fit though which i enjoyed.<br /><br />As great as this coat is however, I’m not sure it’s worth $150. It’s not that warm for the bitter cold climate I live in. I’m in NY and our winters have been in the negatives this year and still currently are. I wore this coat when it was 30-35 degrees out, zipped up fully w/ a lightweight fleece sweatshirt on underneath along w/ a long sleeve shirt underneath the sweatshirt and i was cold. I dress as warm as i can underneath whatever i wear. I usually will have on fleece jeans or flannel jeans from cabela’s and then a long sleeve warm shirt underneath either a mid weight, or heavyweight or lightweight sweatshirt along w/ a Sherpa lined hat. I did all that - tried the lightweight sweatshirt w/ it first (equivalent to like a force extreme carhartt sweatshirt) and i was cold in 30-35 degree weather with it. So i tried a mid weight sweatshirt - same result. I tried the Clarksburg Sherpa lined sweatshirt by carhartt (female’s) and that is the only sweatshirt w/ this coat that kept me warm... but it was the Sherpa that kept me warm - not necessarily the coat w/ 80g thinsulate. The only time the coat kept me warm w/o having to layer or if i was wearing a lightweight sweatshirt was when ny temps were b/t 40-45 degrees but who needs to wear a coat w/ thinsulate in that weather - that’s not that cold to us New Yorkers especially for thinsulate which is spose to be more for cold temps. I know carhartt does not temp regulate their coats, but if you search the “Extreme” temp category, this style pops up in it b/c of the thinsulate. This coat is not that warm in bitter cold temps - sorry to say and that’s why i returned it. I really did like the comfort level of it. It’s very nice, but i don’t think it’s worth $150. I have the J140 (quilted flannel) w/ no thinsulate mind you and i put on the same lightweight sweatshirt as i did in this style, and guess what, the j140 kept me warm and dry while i was snow blowing in 5 degree weather w/ wind blowing snow. I was caked in snow from head to toe this past week snowblowing, but i was very warm and dry w/ the j140 which sells for $99.99 - now i can see why it’s carhartt’s most popular buy which also is in the ‘extreme’ temp category (usually listed at the very top of the page). Now that J140 is worth every penny but i’ll write a separate review on that coat later. Like i said, you’d think w/ 80g thinsulate it would be warm but i feel it just couldn’t stand up to NY cold. I think the coat would be better suited for mild/moderate temps. The only time this coat kept me warm was w/ the Clarksburg heavy Sherpa on. I guess i just expected more from this coat being it has the thinsulate in it. I think if carhartt was to bump it up to maybe 200g thinsulate, then it would be really warm. My northside boots are waterproof but they have 200g thinsulate in them and boy are they warm. Nothing penetrates them. If carhartt would add more thinsulate to this coat, at least 100g if not 150g or 200g, then this coat would def be warm and worth the price tag, but for me i’m sorry to say, it just didn’t hack it w/ NY winters. but the j140 sure did and still is. Who would of known after me trying so many Carhartt Coats trying to see which ones would best serve me in our bitter cold that it would of been a stiff j140. I originally wanted full swing from the get go but i ended up w/ the j140 b/c it’s wind/rain proof. (See my sep review on it)
Bought it for husband as a Christmas gift. He is so happy with the comfort of the full swing style...for cutting wood for the wood burner.
The fit is perfect, well made and I just look good in it.
This is really a five star garment. Carhart really did their homework when they designed this for an active working person. I have let other people try my coat on and they were sold the minute they felt the roominess and comfort. It is very warm with pockets big enough to hold a holiday ham. I highly recommend this to anyone thinking of buying their next Carhart coat.
Bought this for my 16 year old son...he loves it, wears it everywhere. Great fit...great coat...warm, rugged.
A really good looking jacket that is warm and comfortable. The Full Swing feature is a really good idea and works as advertised. This is my first Carhartt product and my only regret is that I did not buy some of their products years ago.
I bought this for my husband for Christmas that does contacting and works outside a lot in the winter months. He actually said it's too warm! Which I guess is a good thing in some instances. Easy to move in and work though.
Warm, flexible, durable, not too hot to work in though breathes nicely! There’s a reason I only buy carhartt costs and it’s because they’re the best!
I like the jacket, but I’m still having difficulty with the double front zippers
The coat is of high quality and will give me years of wear.
I wish you had a medium tall. Jacket is a bit too big in the gut.
My husband loves this coat “Seems long lasting, Durable and warm”
Bought this for cold January and February winters so only wore a couple of times but it is really comfortable and nice color. Anxious to try when gets to zero. Will add to this review if they allow it. Would recommend this coat.
Husband loves the coat, but also wanted a hood. Ordered the brown sand stone one which works, but is a lousy match. Come on Carhartt how hard would it be to make one that matches??
I haven’t owned a Carhartt coat for several years. I never seemed to find the right fit. I’ve been looking for a new one for 2 winters now. I recently purchased the Full Swing Traditional coat and couldn’t be more pleased. I’m 6’2” and the large regular fits me better than any Carhartt I’ve owned in the past. Excellent job on this design Carhartt!
This is my first Jacket from Carhartt. The first thing I noticed is the weight- this is a very sturdy jacket, with heavy duty zippers. It’s also well insulated, and the collar is very soft and comfortable. I have unusually large shoulders and arms that makes jackets hard to fit - this one fits great (3x).
Excellent Coat. Easy movement in shoulder area, hope carharrt makes this coat in MOSS next year. Thank you
Bought this jacket as something to wear everyday. It has only been a couple of weeks but so far so good. Keeps you warm and blocks the wind. Usually wear an Extra Large, but tried on the Large Long in the store and it fit great (I am 6'2" 210lbs Athletic build).
Nice jacket, bought this for my grandson. It’s a little roomy but overall nice. I’m sure it’ll last for years.
Love it! Wow! What a big difference from my last coat. The full swing really allowed me to move with comfort.
This coat replaced a 20 year old carhartt chore coat that served very well. <br /><br />The full swing feature is much appreciated. Just enough extra room in the shoulders to make overhead lifting possible without the coat binding. <br /><br />Good insulation for cold days. I usually layer this with a vest or flannel shirt when temps dip below freezing. <br /><br />The zipper front And large pockets is a nice feature. All seams are tight. It’s just what you would expect from Carhartt
Very unimpressed with the coat. This is the first full swing coat I’ve owned and likely the last. Fits way to big and will probably get it the way of my work if anything. It doesn’t feel comfortable at all and unfortunately being from Canada it’s difficult to return. Guess I’ll keep it even though it’s not what I was hoping for.
im 5'10" 150lbs. bought a medium was way too big exchanged it for a small and fits perfectly. lighter and easy to move it then the previous carhart i had and still just as warm. great on the motorcycle.
Great coat. Really love this one that replaced my old one of 10 years. Will always buy a Carhartt coat. This coat is the long length version so I ended up ordering 1 size smaller, I usually wear a medium and this small fits perfect. Would highly recommend.
Warm, comfortable and durable!
It is a top quality very tough work coat. Insulation is minimal since it is for heavy exertion. I needed more like a barn coat, warmer insulation while standing inside a freezing barn.
Incredible jacket. So warm, looks great. And can truly move in it as advertised. Generous cut, so I had to order a size smaller. Best jacket I have ever owned!
Great jacket. Able to move unrestricted. Very warm. New favorite jacket!!!
S is tight and M is huge
Very much like the coat, keeps me warm even out in the 20 degree weather, nor does it restrict movement. However it does run a little big on me, as a thinner-framed guy even smalls don’t seem to fit the best.
I just got mine with the sale and couldn’t be happier. It’s a great everyday jacket, very warm, pockets are very soft to warm your hands. Has 2 handy pockets inside coat. Have worn in rain
Love this jacket. I was really worried about the fit, since my shoulders and chest are broad, but arms are shorter. I have a little bit of extra sleeves here, but it's still very comfortable and warm. Built very well too.
Im 5' 11" 220lbs Athletic. Big arms and shoulders and a large was really nice in the shoulders but HUGE in the body! Really long and wide. I exchanged for a medium which is pretty snug in the shoulders but the body fits perfect. With the full swing shoulder technology im still able to move freely without the jacket riding up.
I spent weeks looking for a good winter jacket that would both last and hold up to the work I do. After stopping at a carhartt store the rep help me pick the right jacket and got me the right size. The store didn't have the color I wanted so he ordered it and I got 2 days later. It extremely comfortable and moves with me no problems. The jacket will probably outlast me and I couldn't be happier. I recommend this jacket for Minnesota winters that require you working outside. Worth every penny.
This coat is very nice fits like it should but still room to move and not feel restricted. The color is great, quality feels excellent I would recommend it. This is my first Carhartt coat and I'm very pleased.
Purchased this coat as a Christmas gift, so hubby will not see for a couple months. That being said, however, he has a coat nearly the same, just not the full-swing. Hubby has nearly worn out the Carhartt he’s wearing now and I know that with the extra room of the full-swing, he’s going love it! Color is perfect as well.
